The Saga of Ragnar Lodbrok, part 1 - Pixel History

Many things have already been said about vikings and the iconic Ragnar Lodbrok. Many people have no doubt heard of his exploits through the series "Vikings" and its portrayal of Norsemen in the Dark Ages and Viking Era. However, how close to "reality" are those exploits? Were they reality at all? And how did the real legend go, as opposed to the more recent portrayals in media?
The first two questions will be difficult to answer. But the latter? Well, it just so happens that the Hipstorian brushed up on his Old Norse and is about to share the story as it once used to be told in times of old by the skalds themselves! Fine, he may have used the help of a translated version by Chris van Dyke as well, but it won't get much closer than this!
Minor parts may have been excluded from the original story for the sake of pace and clarity.

As usual man, incredible, absolutely incredible work. God I love your style man. And I'm always so impressed by how customizable it is! I mean you made a giant snake and a drakar! I also call the mother of the girl I hope to marry "horribly hideous".

Thanks as always for the kind words! It's very fun to work with this kind of material, even if I threaten to go a bit overboard in editing the "assets" and end up getting sidetracked as a result, haha! The hideous woman part was a particularly amusing bit to read up on. Apparently, vikings have no filter for the things that they say to old ladies whatsoever!

can't wait for this channel to be in the thousands, these videos are fun to listen/watch. (I loved your Generation War video especially since I watched the mini series probably last year or two? Really good mini series)

Thank you so much! Still got a loooong way to go to think about the thousands, but every little bit of support and praise helps to keep me going towards that goal! Glad to hear you liked the other video too! I might consider doing more series-related videos to switch things up from the usual pixel history-related videos.

Hey, I really love the style of your videos and was surprised to see so few views! One small suggestion - change the thumbnails up so they maybe reflect more obviously the amount of time and effort that's gone into them!
