No duh, this isn't what actually happened, it's Ruckus's version of what he chooses to remember, as evidenced by the fact he was never a white baby. So this is actually a caricature of his parents, and a distillation of his defining characteristics. We all do it.

This self-hatred and abuse in this scene is hilariously funny and sad at the same time. In real life, it's just vitiligo, it's just that for some people, it regresses and re-inflicts the paitent because the body is trying it's hardest to regrow back the melanin it lost to protect the skin. Vitiligo affects people differently, it can go in remission for a years and then reemerges, causing more phycological damage and it's often stigmatized. I find it crazy that a cat or dog with different color patches on their bodies is adored and celebrated while humans with the same condition is feared and shamed, I wish there will be more positive awareness about Vitiligo so we can stop this shaming.

Nowadays in modern countries it isn't a big deal for the most part. Birth marks and skin conditions are more accepted. Historically though it often was seen as a curse or as a form of leprosy which was highly contagious so people with blotchy skin were often persecuted. Dogs with spots just have different fur colors. If under the hair the dog had splotches or patches of welts it would probably be thought mangy and put down. Kids however are brutal about skin deep differences until they learn empathy.

Animal colour patterns are on their fur, not their skin. Not saying that it excuses Vitiligo shaming, but it's the reason why it's treated like an illness unlike animal patterns.

What i never understood about Ruckus in not just this episode but the entire series is why he never thought to have plastic surgery in order to get his deformity corrected, i mean i know that's one of his most iconic features but i'm just saying that with today's healthcare and what not Ruckus could've had his facial deformity with his eye corrected if he wanted to.

This show is cool… nostalgic. Every-time I think of it I wish there were more than 4 seasons. Or forget all about it to enjoy all over again.

I work as Loss Prevention at a supermarket and we have an elderly black greeter who is absolutely an Uncle Ruckus type. She CONSTANTLY calls and reports any/every black teen, or group of black teens, who enter the store as suspicious people. Everyone in LP has termed her calls as "shopping while black" reports.

Adult Swim… I speak on behalf of the fans…bring this show back but do it justice… ensure Aaron Mcgruder and Donald Glover are behind the everything…and ensure John Witherspoon’s son voices grandad…I guarantee you that your ratings and views will significantly increase

Personally, I think they lied about Ruckus being adopted. A man like him who never wanted kids in the first place and he’s gonna adopt a kid that’s not even his just because he had a wad of money on him? Unlikely. As funny as this episode is it’s also done so well on people have been abused and oppressed for so long can sometimes grow to hate the race they are. Very powerful episode.

The lie was made up by Uncle Ruckus's mother. She lied so he could cope with reality and not turn out like his dad. Plus she too is insecure and idealized white people, hence the wig and later on in the show, she gets blue eye contacts and a white boyfriend.
