Can all fans be removed easily despite air barriers on them? In the noise sample, I could not hear coil whining - can you please describe it and the frequency of its occurrence? How stiff or wobbly are the keys? Can one remove the cables to the three status lights to deactivate them? (Deactivating the power button's light in this manner might be impossible though.) --robert jasiek

I have a 4070 mobile strix 17 inch and it plays all triple a games at high with high fps. It's an amazing laptop for the price!

I may prefer Scar 17 with the lower GPU specs, as the Scar 17 seperates the arrows keys from the numpad and making the 0-keys even bigger.

We have the RTX 4080 SKU here right now. We will have to wait and see if we can get other configs at a later time. But I will try to keep it in mind. I have been trying for a while now to get the lower-end specs, but either manufacturers are still pushing the high-end configs for now, or the smaller cards (especially the 4060) have yet to be widely available.

Do you think the size/weight difference between the Strix 16 and the Strix 18 is to massive?

Size, yes, and weight too. The g16 is about 600g lighter, and the 18" screen is actually a lot more immersive. But it comes down to personal preference. Both are great (I am reviewing the G16 right now too!)

As an editor i would go for rtx 4060 or 4080 for extra Vram. RTX 4070 has the same as 4060 so there is no reason of existing.

Resolve 18, which is what we use for our videos, can quickly max out a 4090 mobile, and I had seen about 20 gigs of usage from time to time when I was testing the 7900 XTX in my desktop. It is really dependent on your footage, I think we use a Blackmagic that shoots in 6k RAW.

@@NotebookcheckReviews Could you please pay some attention to the power consumption in light tasks (idle, youtube, web browsing, playing some local 4k content)? Those new Ryzen CPUs supposed to be more efficient than 13th gen Intel Core. So it's interesting how they compare. And a lot of reviewers usually make only stress test comparisons. It would also be very interesting to see if they're even close to Apple's M2 in terms of battery life and power consumption.

This laptop has thunderbolt port right to connect external gpu if needed..

I am still waiting for Acer Helios 16/18 review, although Helios 16 is already available in Asia.

@@deejones8552 I never change the refresh rate, it's always set to 240Hz. I never see any screen tearing and to be honest, I never think about it.

A 4070 laptop with dlss 3 and fg how much more fps then a 3070ti

I'm looking at Legion 5 Pros to buy and the 4070 goes for an acceptable price. I haven't bought it yet, I have all this information available on it, but I still feel deceived by Nvidia... Put aside the wattage problems of the midrange and lower range cards, the 4070 still has the VRAM "problem". If the 4060 and the 4070 could pull those juicy 140 Watts they would be fine, if the 4070 would have 10 gigs of VRAM it would be even better. I think the biggest problem with the 4070 in general is that it's way closer to the 4060 than the 4080. It should be halfway between the two to offer good value. It's a damn shame, but I guess this is what we have to deal with if AMD won't pull their act together. I can already foresee that AMD will release the 7700M with better performance, more VRAM and lower price, and for next year Nvidia will wake up and release the 4070ti which will pocket the 4070...

I do not recommend the Legion brand, the customer service is disgusting and their products are quite disposable. Mine barely lasted 2; I lost money and above all time.

It is. Modern day AAA games require 12 gigs of vram. there’s a strix g18 with i9-13980hx and a 4080. Ordered it for 2100 usd today and it’s a beast. Disable the gpu on battery and it will do atleast 5 to 6 hours of internet browsing and work. It has a impressive display with a QHD display. I am strictly going to use it as a professional tool ie for simulations and never gaming which won’t even consume 10% of total cpu and gpu power as I don’t want to trash the laptop which people do while gaming. Solid machine though.

I am not crying, my man. I like some RGB as much as the next guys. But with a bit more metal in its construction and less font/writing on the chassis, the Strix would be so much better. The RGB implementation is really.

Sounds like you need to grow up, man. When you’re a kid, having flashy and cheesy “gamer” designs looks cool, but when you’re an adult you’ll want something that looks more sophisticated and high quality. Gaming laptops can look cool while also looking sleek/subtle… it’s not black and white!

Tricky, the Alienware looks much better if you ask me, but it is also massive. I might go for the Scar since it can be very quiet in its balanced profile, and Armory Crate runs a little more reliably than the Alienware Command Center.
