I've not come across these racist comments but I bet you wouldn't give a tinker's cuss what colour skin the man had if he was shedding his blood to protect you and yours. Racist comments say more about your own shortcomings than it does about anyone whose skin isn't of the purest white.

Well said that man - we had 5 Scots based in Canterbury for years - they were loved & respected by the whole community. we miss em. Have a look how the town said goodbye - everyone turned out! Respect and love.
My Gurkha Regiment was affiliated to the KOSBs and I remain tremendously honoured by that.

I was in Holyroodhouse on the same parade 4 years ago,I did cry like a baby.Everybody should see it at least once in a lifetime.I cant explain the emotions and the feelings during the march of this wonderful guys, they deserve to be called The heroes. The locals were telling us this soldiers were fighting in Afganistan,Irak etc...so this is an honor for them to be in this special group. I love Scotland and the Scots and their Whisky with no ice!
Some of my ancestors were Scottish so this means a lot to me. May we all live in peace and harmony with respect. My love to all from the United States of America.

I spent a week in Scotland when i was in the Navy and I loved it. Rolling green hills, fish and chips and Tennents Lager. A small town with the the most loving welcoming people. The bag pipes is the most looked forward to in the US for a parade.
Coming from America! Great job! unique uniforms , love those bagpipes.

Great drill by the Royal Scots Borderers, I'm very proud of you boys, I am a veteran infantry soldier from the New Zealand Army, 1961- 1964. I have Scottish blood in my veins, from my mother, (from Glasgow) and my father, handed down from the McRae Clan. Godbless you all boys. Robert William Wilson. New Zealand.

The lads very smartly attired in a variation of the Black Watch tartan, plain but appropriate sporran- and the Royal Stewart tartan on the bagpipes- correct as this is a royal regiment.

It's a pity that the Royal Scots and the K.O.S.B were amalgamated into this bastardised R.R.oS. all the history and identity of the regiments who made up the Scottish division trashed on the bonfire of cuts and savings.

From the time of Cromwell through Napoleon and even Hitler, despots have known the ferocity of Scots in battle. You get a sense of it in the unhurried swagger in their march.

Wonderful
Thanks for the update. Once you get to know what you're looking for you will be able to identify the various regiments performing public duties. For example, RSDG are cavalry and these troops are infantry. How do we know this? Cavalry regiments don't carry a colour/standard.; they carry a guidon. Here we have a colour party so infantry is all it can be, How do we know this is 1SCOTS? They're wearing Government tartan , note the Pipe Major's pipe bannner and they play Blue Bonnets O'er the border
My three brothers and myself served in Scottish Regiments all over the place,,,No matter what a mans colour he stepped up and put it on the line,,,So till you share your last bit of compo with one who served shut thy trap,,,,Trapper,,,,
ich Liebe es diese musik top top einfach nur cool :-)

Nice troop. Something about the pipes and drums when you are marching that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up. Got to hand it to you Brits (and Scots, Welsh) you have great uniforms and can do one heck of a parade. Not too shabby as combat troops either. :-) Of course the Royal Marines are the top of the pyramid. Thus sayeth a US Marine. It is a Marine thing you civilians just would not understand. Thanks for posting.

It was a movement that was formulated into drill when the SA80 assault rifle replaced the SLR. Its because of the weight and being a bullpup design, it is a lot shorter than its predecessor so it cannot be rested butt first on the ground. The only way to get relief from the weight when doing long periods of drill is to swap shoulders.
