2021 player here. This guide saved my ass as well as the lives of half our party. The tidal wave took half of us out because so many of us were new sprouts including myself 🌱

If you have never done an EX trial up to this point and get through this one, consider them all cleared.

I'm a Dragoon. But I will still do my best. to my future party please be kind to me on my first try!

I honestly find it amusing that the game is very specific on how much damage the boss takes every time we hit his tail.

So we skipped the normal primal and went straight to the EX. Most people I talked to consider Shinryu harder than Lakshmi EX.

How is it harder than Lakshmi Ex at all? Randoms can easily do Shinryu as long as tanks know to stack. Lak Ex requires the whole team to know what they're doing for pretty much every mechanic, or they'll die, and she'll probably enrage. PUG DPS and Heals can do Shinryu no problem.

What types of lashkmi ext fail parties you where doing?, Lashkmi ext is pretty much Lashkmi normal version but with more vrils mechs :S! and with the confuse, as i told before, I cleared it in my first try, at second attempt... the difference between royal menagerie and Lashkmi is that every single person have to go thru that duty, casuals and hardcores... and no all people have the same dps and fingers skills

Exactly. You only wipe on Shinryu because the people you match with are a lot of casual players who just want to do the story. The fight itself is brain-dead simple AoEs. Lakshmi Ex has far more involved mechanics, it only seems easier to you because you're playing with hardcore people. The fight is nowhere near harder, it's the people you play with.

Ahh MTQ, thank you and good vid. This is a surprisingly tough fight for a regular story trial. It can be learned pretty swiftly but I swear there's an element of sheer luck to some of the later combination attacks where you'll just have to take a hit or two, and if you don't have the life for it, its a bad time. I will say too that this fight really emphasizes how much more important Sprint is now. It always was of course, but obviously since it costs no TP now they seem to really be emphasizing that there's some thing's you're just gonna have to use it for and even think of it as an important cooldown. Still Its sort of refreshing to have a last boss thats not a complete joke this time, although I'm pretty damn scared for what the EX version of this fight down the line is going to look like. Also if you're doing this, whether for story purposes or roulette, please remember to be patient with people(within reason of course. I understand, some people are a little less "in it" than others. lol) , especially if you're a tank or support who probably didn't have to wait even a third as long as the DPS' did. It's got some legitimately tricky mechanics for first timers even if you read or watch up on it, and we were all first timers once.

i like the design where 2 tanks are attacked simultaneously. also.. basically all his attacks are from primals ifrit, leviathan, ramuh, titan, shiva, and garuda's primal move

And it makes perfect sense, considering that it's an artificial primal that was made by someone who knew about all those primals.

When you're killing him without much difficulty and then the rare third phase tidal wave wipes the whole party.

I also found out if you destroyed the tail not only it dose huge damage to the boss but as a bonuses it also fill your limit break bar by half

Your videos make me comfortable tanking blind on a first attempt! thanks so much. This trial is a doozy but we got through it after three wipes

A piece of advice for keyboard + mouse users; bind your "Duty Action" to a key! You have to do it quickly and I found pressing a key a lot easier than clicking a little button on the screen.

The divebomb's knockback isn't as big as it looks, so if you don't think you'll make it to the safe zone, you can just run to the boss.

I got FFXIV last month and finally made it to this trial after playing basically nonstop. I've been watching these videos for every dungeon/trial and after watching this vid I was certain I would die. I'm happy to say that thanks to this guide I didn't die at all on my first attempt!

I played nonstop too but it still took 4 months to get to this part. xD Were you skipping all cutscenes?

This was the tale of two fights for me. First attempt I couldn't do anything right. I was getting hit by everything. I died four times. I was incredibly frustrated and embarrassed. We wound up wiping. Second attempt it was 180-degree opposite. I was the queen of Dodgeville. Everything I got wrong the first time I got right the second time, and we won pretty easily.

This guide saved me from that tidal wave that wiped out half of my party lol Thank you MTQ !

Should probably note two things: 1) Both tanks are being autoattacked by the boss at the same time, if one tank dies, the other is eating two autoattacks instead of one, so be prepared for heavier heals if one goes down. 2) Earthen Fury marks a platform to be destroyed, obviously don't be standing on that one when it happens.

Not sure, I've only seen it hit someone else if one of the tanks is dead, and as main tank I've had both consistently hit me before if the other tank is dead. Still, something to watch out for.

If one tank is dead, two auto attacks hit the main tank. I've been hit that way multiple times.

For Tidal Wave you can use skill that prevent knockback (like surecast) in case you mess up.

MyVanir tempered will works for all the knockback. the only issue I run into is people will see me stand in place and they try it too and get knocked off lol

Ugh! This was so fun and frustrating at the same time. I kept getting slammed with the holy breath and burning chains when I was just a 280 geared dps so I apologize to the healers that had to spend their time on me. Got knocked off from a dive because I barely missed it, raised just in time to swing as he let off Diamond Dust sending me off the platform. But I did manage to finish him with a LB3 so that was immensely satisfying! Looking forward to EX!

Don't apologize--do your 70 job quest and get the af coffer. 5 pieces of 290 will be a big help!

So I’m pretty new to the game but I did this earlier and everyone seemed to know exactly what to do that this encounter was done before I knew it. There were so many mechanics and whatnot I I just followed the group and went through unscathed. I knew I had to watch a video with details on the mechanics of the fight just so I could see what exactly was going on haha.

It's fun as hell, an actual good boss unlike Thordan which was basically just a visual fight with zero danger. Now on to post-Stormblood and then Shadowbringers. I hope this trend of harder trial bosses keeps up!

I’ll admit I was really janky when I was trying in earnest to put together what the video taught me, into practice. But after the first wipe, things made a lot more sense and we cleared it with randos no problem at the second time of asking. This guide rocks.

Did this fight blind and was dead for 90% of it. Hopefully now that I've watched this I might be able to survive if I end up in the fight for Duty Roulette.

Thanks for the guide, watched this and did 40% of the damage, and one-shot it and never died.

Ty ur video helped me beat this on my first try, even tho I died on the parts where I'm supposed to run far away and I pressed the movement key when the floor turned to ice when I remember u saying not to move LOL. Luckily for me ppl by now have higher lvl gear so it went by faster then it prolly would have when this first came out.

Did this first try with the help of this vid. I watched it like 10 times but I didn't die once so yay!

Yea. It can catch people off guard, esp coming from the piss easy Lashkmi and Susano fights. I think it's safe to assume this is the hardest MSQ trial to date. However, once you learn the mechanics it's not so bad. How good your healers are is make or break in this one for sure. More so than others.

As it should be, it'd be too boring if the last fight is easy! Also it's a good way to prepare for other end game contents which is no less difficult.

Even after watching this, and other videos several times, I died about 8 times.. (Very tired I guess).. I wish I could have just left group and got some sleep, but they kept raising me, continuing the punishment.

Did it the first time a day ago and we started by getting everyone but the two healers thrown of by tidal wave. We managed to recover and while it was pure chaos, we managed to beat him. While I played Paladin, I felt more like a 3rd healer in this one. :D

did it as a healer. couldn't spent much attention to the attacks or strat since I was busy with healing / rezzing but it worked great with AST + WHM but went shitty with everyone else...worst was WHM+WHM. couldn't manage my mana due to all the whm's didnt know how to play their skills. moreover, this fight basically wants you to play as a TEAM! meaning you have to work together with your skills and techniques and since most players dont do that or dont know how to do that, they wipe!

This really helped me! I did it 1st try!

Just went to this place today. It was disaster.

I can’t imagine why it’s so hard to get a queue for this. This is ridiculous!

Ran it for the first time and holy crap that was an event. While we failed, I had fun with it. Prolonged losses might change that opinion. Question: The other tank told me to tank swap for Phase 2 Akh Morns. But I can just stack with the them right?

I did this once for msq and wanted to revisit it for weapon loot so I came here...I have now decided that I'm just going to save gil qnd buy them from market board lol

Scyle I wanted to ask that same question...i tried to see ACT log to the targeted player but there seem not an effect. I'm kinda sure that it will be a mechanic on the extreme, but i have no idea on what it does here

this video helped me with the mechanics for this fight. thanks! after 7 duty entries, 4 tries a piece, the last try was what did it. Gotta love when dps don't focus on one target and when healers don't raise key players first

No Name not a dps, nice guess though. It only took once of getting knocked off by tidal wave to know what to do.

Man it was hard to pump out much dps as a BLM. Having to keep track of the rotation and all the other stuff going on..pretty much got carried. Didn't die though.

Just completed this for the first time. Ala Mhigo celebrated by playing the Russian national anthem.

I just finished this about half an hour ago and it was a LOT of fun. I went in blind, but we had one person in the group who had done it before. I guess they got it from trial roulette. She didn't tell us mechanics the first time since we all wanted to see it for ourself. We wiped to the add phase since too many DPS were dead. 2nd time, she explained a few mechanics that we asked about and then we beat it right there no problem. It was definitely a very fun final fight. I'm glad it went well with the group I had as well, since I know my boyfriend wound up wiping 5 times before getting through it. Is it necessary for the two tanks to stack together for the akh morns in the first phase? I saw only one of our tanks taking damage, so I assume they didn't stack, but even then, it wasn't hard for me to outheal it. I'm wondering if it actually does split the damage, or if stacking for it just means people are taking damage they don't need to take.

It is recommended that tanks stack up for ahk morn... however I believe one tank with take more damage than the other, I'm not sure but that's happened to me in every run I've done of this

When Akh Morn is being cast, two players are also tethered, mainly the MT and OT. I believe only these two can stack, and should prepare cooldowns and heals. When tanking it alone, use an invulnerability skill just to be safe. In the later stages, the next Akh Morn will also cast a static laser pulse on a random party member. You'll be familiar with that one from Sohr Khai's final boss; just move out of the way.

I'll suggest that it does split damage... but you probable had a tanky melee DPS stepping in and out of it just to ensure the tank didn't die.

Is it just me or did difficulty ramp up quite a bit in stormblood? This trial seems insane

How do you zoom your camera out so far?

Casters should take Surecast and other dps should take the same similar skill so you can ignore most of the knock backs.

For now it seems Susano EX, Lakshmi EX, and Omega 1-4 give i320 gears. I'm pretty sure Shinryu EX will appear just like Nidhogg did, and will probably give at least a i325 - 330 gear.

Actually not as hard as I expected. Only thing that made me and randoms wipe twice was the first half wind thing. But I told them what to do cause I saw this video before starting and then got 4 commendations at the end of the trial :D And im a dps too! Dps don't get comms usually

It is indeed much easier than expected. Think we wiped three times but group was very chill. Very fun boss to do as well honestly, especially as a healer.

Huh. With all these comments I expected this thing to be a nightmare. My first group wasn't great, but after a few wipes they voted to abandon. My second group did it in a few tries with a very clean kill. The fight can really seem overwhelming at first, but it's just a lot of flashy stuff to dazzle and confuse you your first time through.

I remember when active time came up I pushed a button and it said I failed and died :(

i watched this 6 times already..... here comes 7th

I spent 6 hours yesterday with 5 different groups because they refused to learn the mechanics and just wanted a carry, pretty much ending in vote abandon after 6 or 7 wipes, such an easy fight once you learn it i don't get why they didn't even tried to learn.

I feel that 70-80% of the playerbase are just too lazy to learn anything beyond simple 1-2-3 combos. It's why there are so few healers and tanks in queues.

Chisa yes healing is not for the faint of heart cause that adrenaline kicks in a shit gets crazy! Nothing like the feeling of party on verge of wipe and you save it with your heals!:F

Just did it with WHM for the first time, not nearly as hard as it seems. WHM has plenty of stuff to deal with the damage.

Awesome raid or w/e u call it in this mmo deff has more mechanics than most swtor nightmare content was alot of fun tanking! :D
