Great that they "found" it again. I've used the royal mail for years posting coins and I've actually never had a parcel lost. I think their service is quite impressive for the most part. But like you say, you do pay for it highly now!

This is a common problem with large companies. All systems have errors, but when these errors come to light at "Customer Services" there is no feedback loop that leads to a fix and the errors continue. I have had issues with three large companies that I have escalated to the CEO's office and asked for them to contact me to discuss how they will improve their system going forward. However it has always resulted in the usual small goodwill gesture. The fundamental fact is that it is less costly for them to pay the goodwill gesture than the costs of rectifying the faults in their system as most people either don't complain at all or get fed up with time it takes to actually get an answer. Glad you got your package, but I bet the error hasn't been identified and corrected so it will undoubtably happen again in the future

I sent you a message a while back about an item I bought on special delivery that went missing. It took ages for the money to be paid out and had to wait 30 days before they agreed it was missing and lost in the post. I've sent 100s of items out using royal mail special delivery and bought 100s of items sent to me with royal mail special delivery. That's the only one that's ever gone wrong. When something goes wrong it's a nightmare to get through and a nightmare to resolve any issues. I feel your pain 😢

The Royal Mail is rapidly becoming one of the worst companies in Britain. I wonder if some ex-managers from Evri have been given management jobs there. I can guarantee that if anything is sent second class, it will not arrive. I've got a feeling there are people stealing in their sorting offices. Only send first class special delivery fully insured and requiring a signature.

Royal mint and Royal mail are two sides of the same coin, they find every opportunity to ripp off their customers

USA here in a VERY remote location, with dozens of mail back and forth on precious metals over the years. Twice has happened, once a total loss and reshipped replacement, the second a seriously long delay (3 weeks almost) for relocating the package and making me sweat. Not bad for scores of online shipping companies but it does happen. These are all very large well established businesses so I don't know how bad something like EBay results are.

Crap happens unfortunately.I've worked for a postal service and yeah, there are lots of items, lots of things that go wrong and not everyone is going to be an expert at their job. Oh yeah, and the odd bad egg. Good news that they found it though.

I'm so glad Australia has a government stamped insurance that all companies have to abide by.

Was it next day guaranteed special delivery? If not use that next time claim limit is 50k on that one, royal mail make mistakes all the time from delivering my post to another house round the corner, to losing my medication parcel.... poor service 😊 atleast you got the parcel back thats the main thing 😊

Cracking outcome. Give the Royal Mail some latitude, sometimes they come up good.

UPS, a total nightmare to deal, with, no UK call centre's, poor customer service, been sat on my parcel for more than 3 weeks, avoid UPS at all costs. And yes its theft. Don't think just because its a big company they don't have people nicking your stuff. Please make a video about UPS.

I feel your pain. I've never had an issue with RM inside UK. However I've had orders with Pressburg mint and Scottsdale that have been impounded for weeks. When I rang RM they blamed customs and said nothing to do with us. but on both occasions the packages were released the next day ? Hmm RM are part of the UK government just like the royal mint . Other thing I've noticed is the increase in postage for precious metals . It's f***g outrageous tbh. Problem is most couriers are not insured to deliver pms.

Royal Mail hasn't been owned by the Government for about 10 years now

Seen a post about this on the groups, hope all gets sorted, not good. Indeed if its special delivery and the person you send it to lives alone or with trustworthy family then yes, somebody at RM has stolen it, special requires a signiture like 1st signed.. an employee is likely to be the culprit

The USPS stole $3,000 US of silver coins from me.

Surely anything extra given as a goodwill gesture should be based on the value of the goods, and 10% would be a good starting point. This would have given you an extra £250 on a value of £2500, a fair sum not to be sniffed at. An offer of £50 is somewhat insulting.

I wonder what else with the word Royal in it will try to screw you over 😢

From what I understand, the seller is responsible for a providing you with the item that you have paid for look at Martin lewis for this from my understanding the mint is responsible for providing you with the silver or a full refund and they are supposed to take hit from Royal Mail in essence it is their problem not yours

Grrr, I wonder if your reputation and the name on the package earmarked for the shipment being heisted. My insides are calling for retubution over this. I regularly ship 50 to 100 ounces with no insurance value on the shipment. In Canada insured shipments are horendiously expensive so as long as it is in country there is no need to say what it is on the shipping bill. Out of country is a bit different so I just call it metal and be done with it. So for now it has worked well. not one package has gone missing since I started this gig 7 or 8 years ago now. It's great you had this result but still you will never forgive this transaction, I'm sure.

Unfortunately I feel that your media presence had a hand in the outcome, too many unanswered questions for an immaculate recovery, sorry but great outcome!

Of course most of it is stolen in the system - not saying your package is though. Otherwise packages would really pile up in the corners everywhere which clearly is not the case. However once in a while you can be surprised. I bought a fancy Pi1541 HAT from UK which incidentally collided with the hacking? attack. I think two and a half months passed and I got my money back from the seller and ordered another much less fancy one from EU. I really hope he got his money from back Royal Mail. Because another month or 1½ went by and suddenly a package arrived - and I wasn't even charged import VAT which I expected from such seller - surprise - it was the Pi1541 HAT. So while it should have been faster even with the incident it turned out it wasn't stolen after all - but probably misplaced in an overlooked cage which finally was sorted.

I really need to watch full video before commenting :D But nice they found it. One can always wonder - was it genuinely misplaced or in the process of being stolen. I mean I could imagine that if I was to steal in that situation I'd probably start out by misplacing the item. Then when time is right and I'm confident that the missing item isn't being tracked to me then get it for real. Yeah I know what you're thinking - but really it's no shame trying to think like a criminal in order to prevent it. Sitting back acting like you suffer from touch anxiety doesn't solve anything.
