The Role Of Francesco Totti | Tactical Profile
Спорт
Francesco Totti’s career is remarkable for both its longevity and quality. In 616 Serie A appearances for Roma since 1992/93, he has so far scored 250 goals, second only to Silvio Piola in the league’s all-time list. This video examines how Totti was used tactically in order to maintain such an impressive career.

Totti is proof that you don't need a large trophy cabinet to be considered world class. The number of players who get overrated just cause they're part of quality, trophy winning squads these days is unbelievable.

One of the greatest forwards ever. Creativity, finishing, technique, leadership, set piece ability - this man had it all. The fact that he is still playing at top level in his 40s showcases his incredible professionalism as a footballer. Football will certainly miss him after he retires.

Francesco Totti was the complete player in terms of attacking play. People talk about Pirlo but i have never seen an Italian pass the ball better than Totti. In terms of finishing, his trademark chipped finishes were reminiscent of my all time favourite Dennis Bergkamp and his Panenka penalty in Euro 2000 will always be remembered alongside his volley against Sampdoria in the 2006/07 season. In terms of technique and execution, it was one of the best goals i have ever seen. Totti is truly the Roman Gladiator and one of Italy's best ever!

Honestly when i watching highlights of him, i can't believe player like him exist. Passing, finishing, vision and set pieces. No wonder why Maradona love him and said totti is his favourite
You forgot the season 2007 in which he conquered the golden foot playing as a true number 9
As a Roma fan born in '92 for me my team is Totti and other 10 players. He will be really missed :'(

I'm so happy that you did a video on him Totti has been one of those players I have always looked up to ever since I started watching football In a world here money dictates your allegiance, he was among the dying breed of footballers for whom wearing the jersey of their boyhood club was everything they wanted Even if his trophy cabinet isn't as big as some of his other compatriots and even if the entire world forgets about him after few hundred years His legacy will always be immortal at ROMA :')

I'm a Juventus fan but I'll be sad to see such a good player for the game leave. His overall skill and vision for the game made him an amazing player. Totti our teams may be rivals but you make yourself hard to hate. have a good rest of your life

Totti's role: everything from the half line up
Best player maker in the history of the game. A top scorer but his creativity was in a different class. His 2006 injury changed his style of play considerably.

man, Totti is the last classic player in this season, I really love football in early 2000s, batistuta, montella and many more, when Serie a was a great league
I'm worried my love of football might fade when this guy retires. True legend of the game.
Simply a legend. Us Brits underrate this guy so much
Spurs fan here, Totti is a formidable player. Lots of respect
He had the best vision and passing. The quickness of his thought is amazing
Totti and Baggio are the Italians I wish to meet ...talk about swag and style
Much respect to Totti. One of the greatest and the symbol of loyalty.
One of my favourite players ever...
Thank you Totti for everything.
Great to see some one from the uk give totti credit. Il never forget the day man city had to play roma. The english media were giving roma a hard time for having a 38 year old in their squad who apparently wasn't even good when he was younger. Any way Totti scored a screamer. Not bad for a 38 year old
Incredible video. I just wish you could have shown how much he is loved, not just by Roma fans, but everywhere.
The most underrated Italian player of his generation
Superbe analyse ! Totti mon joueur préféré, c'est toujours plaisant une analyse sur lui ! Merci
We've always wanted to know the actual role of Totti! This is top stuff, keep this going :)
Greatest player . They said the king of Rome # 10 .
The eternal captain for the eternal city. well done!
Molto Grazie UMaxit......Totti is in the heart and soul of every living Roman who loves Calcio. He will be dearly missed by any true fan of Football. Supremely talented, unbelievably loyal, a maestro of the beautiful game that hopefully serves as an example to young players now.....it's not always about chasing money and self gratification. It's a crime he never won the Ballon D'or; but Totti himself probably never cared that much about it anyway. He played his entire career for the city he loves, the club he dreamed of as a boy, and has made himself a living legend in Italy. Molto Grazie Capitano!!!!

Damn man, you're really a great in explaining football tactics. This is only the 2nd clip I watch, but from now on, you have one more subscriber and a true follower!
I just came here because I got totti in pes last week and I was so confused at how he plays but then when I played him couble of games I understand that totti is more like false 9 or AMF linking up play with the wingers and I know a guy who does that today Roberto firmino at liverpool
A Steven Gerrard one would be cool showing his shift from DM to CM to RM to AM to Shadow striker and then back to CM and DM again in his later years. he is one of few players to play almost every position in midfield and played many roles under many managers
@Gaga4Parma
7 жыл бұрын
kennedylfc Gerrard is very overrated. The fact is that Liverpool offered him the luxury to do as he pleases and showed great amounts of patience towards a player who was inconsistent and wasn't always at the top of his game but because he was loyal (though he nearly joined Chelsea) and was committed to the club they offered him the same back but as a footballer he wasn't technically gifted, he wasn't particularly intelligent either but he worked hard and it paid off ultimately. Players like him are common Germany has Khedira, Italy has Marchisio and France has Matuidi. All of them far and away better than Gerrard on a technical level. All of them far and away more successful as players too.
@Gaga4Parma
7 жыл бұрын
kennedylfc The truth is your opinion is clouded by you being a Liverpool fan. This is the problem you watch too much EPL and believe the hype. You believe ex-liverpool players opinions on him like Carragher, Souness, Hansen, Lawrenson, Owen, Phil Thompson and McManaman. The Liverpool bias on TV is unreal and it filters through like brainwashing because you will only hear them repeat the same stuff about Gerrard. If you hear it enough times you start to believe it.
@KennedyLFC
7 жыл бұрын
Gaga4Parma seriously? You have to recognise that it's not only ex-Liverpool players that consider Gerrard a great? Almost any player that has played against him would tell you that he is one of the best?
@prithviprakash1110
7 жыл бұрын
Lmao, Gaga4Prama you're clueless. Anybody who understands the game would acknowledge Steven Gerrard as one of the most gifted midfielders in history of the game. He could pass, shoot, defend, cross, you name it. But most importantly he was a leader. I bet you're one of those people who started watching football 2-3 years back when he started to falter. During his prime Gerrard was as good as any player. Lampard, Terry, Zidane, Pele have hailed his ability.

Master I don't think he's an out and out attacking mid. That's Silva's role. His role is box to box mid. Linking the defence to the creative forwards like Silva and Aguero as well as arriving late in the box to finish from long range or to help overload the box. Yaya Toure is a great player but his 'controversy' with the manager (mainly Pep) taints his image a lot.
Wonderful, a fitting analysis and tribute to one of the best!
Thank you for this. Amazing work and very easy to enjoy.

Football Tactics shows that nothing is really impossible, and tactics works good if coach has understood what kind of resources he's got in a team. Italian coaches are masters in creativity and concreteness, they've showed that in many countries in latest years

Would've been great if you'd show his assists record as well, if I remember correctly, he has around 26 for Italy and over 200 in all, but I can be off. Great video nonetheless.
Capitano ❤
2:30 Ah, Capello's famous snowman formation.
Spalletti is one of the most underrated coaches in history he is trully a mastermind he always make a 150% performance from weaker team 217 games as Coach for Roma between 05-09 and only 49 losses in the Serie a when Milano were the real deal and Juve was always strong
Would love to see an video on how the 3 at the back seems to be taking over, for example how clubs have adapted and how roles of certain players have changed (i.e the number 10 role)
El Capitano ❤

an all time great!
Nice video and a great tribute! But still, I think there's something wrong about the explanation of Spalletti's first Rome. The one that you show in this video it's only the structure of defending position, with De Rossi as extra central defender. The most interesting part is the offensive transition, with the structure that rotate and evolve in a 4 2 3 1, with the double playmaker De Rossi-Pizarro, Mancini and Taddei as wings and Perrotta as trequartista in costant insertion between the lines. Totti in this schema occupied the most avanced position, I think the first ever fake-nine of football history, that allowed him to win the Golden foot trophy as the best goal scorer of Europe also beating pure striker such as Van Nistelrooy
People in imdern said messi the man who created false nine role, They didnt know how great totti play as false nine As midfiedlder that got golden ball in europe ( top scorer at 2007 in top euorpe league)
I agree with you that player like Totti will be missed, i dont know when i could see such player again..

Guys , the midfielder of the Scudetto team is spelt Tommasi
The complete centre forward is becoming more and more rare. It's a shame that most systems now rely purely on pace up front; we'll never see another player like him unless Lukaku manages to adopt that role.
