WOW, you mentioned everything that goes on on worship. As a background singer I thank you for this. Thank you for your great tips, advise and encouragement. When it comes to harmony I'm a bit insecure so I'm one that many times hold back and prefer to sing melody, but I do not hold back on my stage presence, I'm aware at all times that my role is to usher the people into His presence and if I'm not in His presence first then I cannot help the congregation to enter in. It's about God nothing more, nothing less.

I appreciate this video. It's something I wish I had heard years ago. I've recently come to terms with the idea that I just don't fit in our worship team. My voice isn't pleasing to the leader, and that is very stressful. I am much happier worshipping in the congregation where I can give God all I have.

I have recently become the worship leader in my church, and i didnt have that much experience or many tips. Many times i saw myself not finding the right words to express what i wanted from the BV. Do you have a training for musicians that are playing and singing at the same time? We have no dedicated vocalists in our small church. Every singer is also playing an instrument, so we have a lot running through our minds at the same time.

Hey Claudia! Still you can use some of these same principles-I recommend that you plan out your harmonies and when each person will be leading and coming in, in each song, so that it creates a journey throughout each song and the worship set list.

Does it mean we can train to sing all parts?

Yes! I encourage worship vocalists to strengthen their voice and expand their range so that they can be versatile vocalists -- be able to sing multiple harmony parts, in different parts of your range!

I don't think there should be choirs or backup singers. Just a worship team where the best singers sing the most. This is from someone who used to be in choir and suffered much abuse in church. They found out I sang better than them and got jealous.
