Great video, but I think that taking a couple of minutes in the intro to explain how the decks work would make the video more exciting.

Last veedeo feedback was that getting to action was great. 😅 I guess we can talk about it mid game1 a bit after the beginning. But I like the idea of starting with turn1 underway.

@@AndreaMengucci IMO something in beetween would be the best. I don't need every interaction explained at the beginning, but a 30 second quick explanation of each decks "plan" is nice. Something around the lines of: "This is a midrange deck. It's goal is to disrupt the opponents first turns with removal and discard until we can deploy our big beater in the form of Exalted Angel or/and pumped Nantuko shadow" (while showing the cards that do each thing on screen, so whoever wants can pause it and read them), should be more than enough to give some context without dragging the video. Also I'll add that I don't know what's the majorities opinion on the matter, but I personally enjoy top players explaining decks, there is a lot to learn there, specially from people with your knowledge and skill (which are not that many, at least not that many making content) . If it's there, for people who don't enjoy that, they can just skip it. If it's not there, people that do enjoy it, can't watch it. Anyway, that's my two cents. keep up the good work!

Just played in a 68 person Premodern tournament in MA this last weekend. This format is freaking awesome.

I played too and top 4ed with deadguy ale :)
Growing up in the 90's I remember playing with my dad's older cards. The first real deck I made was a The Rack featuring Hypnotic Specter. Turn 1 Hypnotic Specter at 7 years old was the first time I heard the term schadenfreude.
“Ignore this effect if opponent has no cards in hand” Thanks for clearing that one up for us WOTC😂

@@MengusWorkshop I have. I honestly love the transparency in the explanations of the older cards because there was no website you could go to or KZreadrs to break it down for you. It’s very cool that they wanted to make it so new players could figure out what the cards did and how they worked by just reading them but looking back on it now with a little bit of magic knowledge is just funny to me. It seems so simple now, almost like second nature, but we’ve all had to pick up a card and read it to understand it at some point so I do find the older cards to be both endearing and a tad silly haha

Other card games don't let you activate cards that interact with the hand if that hand is empty.
This video makes me very happy and nostalgic. I started playing during Invasion block and Odyssey has a special place in my heart. Now I want to play pre modern too XD
So much nostalgia. I absolutely love "older" cards. This makes me want to give premodern a try.

Great matchup with lots of play to it. And the editing in these videos is just next level! Keep the premodern content coming
Hypnotic Spectre and Nantuko Shade!? Lets gooo Mengu great old-school vibes today!!
Premodern looks really fun! Thanks Mengu for introducing it to me! Never would have known this was a thing if not for you.
I love it when there's a new premodern video! Thanks Mengu!
Perfect example of how card advantage wins games, well done!
Greetings from Portugal. Thanks for bringing back some memories with Dark Ritual + Hypnotic Specter. Played some tournaments with an old school deck. Bad moon, black knight, order of ebon hand, diabolic edict, dark ritual, hypnotic specter, hymm to tourach, drain life, lake of dead, back in the late 90's. BTW, Tommi i want to see those lands making a 90 degree angle. 😂
Such a good idea with this channel. Was really fun watching you play all old border in paper, so much flavour. the games were good too! lots of back and forth!
love these pre modern videos mengu, no one else plays this format. It's so cool to see so many cards i have never seen, but mixed in with the powerhouse staples.
Loving the channel and loving even more the premodern videos. Always nice to see this kind of gameplay videos :D
That was great! Can’t wait for the next Premodern video. Cheers!
absolutely loving your channel! been watching you since the start and its a gift that keeps on giving! :)
Finally, another Premodern video! Loving seeing the format being played on here, and looking forward to see more!
loving seeing more premodern content! so many wonderful match ups!
So many decks to pick from in this format! StifleNaught, Terravore, Madness/Survival, Standstill, Elves... I love seeing 2 of the more "fair" decks facing off, but there's a lot of broken things you can do even with just old cards.
I loved the idea of bring old decks/formats, i am a player since 2017-18 and is very fun seen how onde magic worked!! I think the intro could have some explanaitions about the decks and show us the decklist and sideboard tho! Plus, bring some legacy or some old Modern matchups for the next! Love from Brasil!!
When not every playable creature had to be a must kill threat. Great format, beautiful games!
I love this format, please carry on with these videos :)
This match makes premodern look amazing! Definitely interested in the format now, didn't give it much of a thought before
Awesome to see you play Premodern! Would love to see more Premodern decks like UW Control
This match was a great example of card advantage wins games. Especially in a midrange or control mirror match.
First video I've seen from that page, know you for a long time from Legacy... this is very cool, thanks !

Glad you discover this! Hope you’ll enjoy the rest too!
I started playing in 2002, onslaught is the block I remember most distinctly. I play a lot of modern now, idk how it didn’t occur to me the block I basically started in was the cutoff for the format. Kinda makes me want to play some pre-modern. I love the idea of a format frozen in time that will pretty much never have your deck messed up by new cards.
Great video, as always. Definitely do more pre-modern, please. These 2 decks are so nostalgic to me, this was the time I was playing Magic every day and absolutely loved this era. I fondly remember having a version of that BW, with Braids, Arenas, Gerrard's Verdict, Vindicate, Death Grasp, Spectral Lynx, etc.
Great video, pre Modern is such a cool format that we rarely see Please put the highlighted cards a little bit bigger, it's impossible to read on the phone screen

Very nice. I’ve been having fun recently playing Bane of the Living alongside Exalted Angel in Black/White. It’s a nice little game of cups for your opponent to remove the correct morph.

these decks are sick! this matchup is so cool. I agree with Tommi, the OG tokens are just so much better with all the other old cards haha

Thta was really fun to watch!
Tommi is right, this format is amazing. Up there with pauper. Great stuff!
Great banter, sweet decks and easy to follow what you guys are doing in terms of decisionmaking and strategy. This is a really well produced video and coincidently, it made me very interested in the pre-modern format. So far the decks that I've seen are far more combo / control oriented, which is a bit out of balance if you ask me. There are basically only monored goblins / burn as aggressive options, but the format might evolve a bit, so I still have hope. The best part about it, is that it involves only non-rotating cards and has a very understandable banlist. That means buying into it might be expensive, but the cards will never rotate and more or less keep their value or increase. Please consider featuring a little more of this interesting format, it fits really well with the vibe you guys have and your love for older cards.
cool video, looking forward to the pro tour final rematch!

Arena Zoomer here! Please play more Premodern, it's really neat to see an era of Magic that looks so foreign, yet is still the game I love! I'd personally love to see some Premodern decks matched up against some Standard decks as well, just as a comparison of Magic across eras. But I fear the Standard decks might be too strong, even with the smaller cardpool.
I love premodern. Thanks for video.
Yes! More Premodern! It's been on my mind lately since Lobstercon registration opens this Sunday. I think I'll play Burn or Terravore Oath : )
Great Video from the best Format. But i have to admit, that inreally like the Left and Right Setup more than the Top Bottom for showing the Game.

The Rock, what a solid deck. I used to play it at the time, finished an extended tournament with it with full score 12 points. Great veedeos, love them. P.S. Compra sti token altrimenti ti crepano anche al prossimo video!!! 😂😜
Not gonna lie, I think the way some Premodern matches play out remind me of Pauper. :) Keep up the Premodern content coming. :)
Double Nantuko Shade was SCARY ❤
Old and slow magic, the best imho. Great video Andrea! 😊
Funny that mengu should mention it, i do like premodern and want to see more of it

Dark Ritual into Hypnotic Specter... So nostalgic... Thank you for that
Premodern is the best format at moment. Grazie Mengu ottimo video
Thanks for having the original tokens, Tommy!
Love the premodern content really much ! Old frame cards being played in 2024 what else you can demand in this world ?
Love this channel !!
At 35:30 why does the Braids trigger go on the stack before the Arena trigger? It's Mengu's upkeep, both triggers are "at the beginning of your upkeep", and Tommi owns Braids, so wouldn't the Arena trigger go on first then the Braids trigger?
Bellissimo video. Personalmente in premodern mi piace tanto giocare Madnes
Nice content!! More premodern please! Try an Aluren deck!
More like this please!
Next one Sligh Vs Landstill ❤
Great video! Why only 2 maindeck deeds in the rock decklist?
premodern looks like fun! this looks like a really good power level for a constructed format
Thanks for another interesting video. Are all the decks we see in the channel Andrea's, or does Tommi also bring his personal decks?

fun stuff, can't wait for more legacy videos
Not gonna lie, never played this format, but seems pretty fun. You can customize your deck with very old & cool cards but it's relatively cheap if you want. Plus the mechanics are really nostalgic
I love Premodern so much! I wish there were more opportunities to play it myself
I would loooove to see either premodern standstill or some mono black legacy with exanguinator cavalry
11:47 Hey Andrea and Tommaso, good content! I wanted to pitch something of a technical suggestion: if you haven’t already, in the side shot, would you consider framing the players in a way that shows their hands and maybe a bit of the field? On a side note, have you, by chance, experimented with a side view that gets both players and the table in the frame? Keep having fun, Cheers
