David Hunn At 1:20 when you had finished your break and were pulling out onto the highway, it was interesting the see the torque reaction of the cab as the truck worked its way up through the gears. I must say that the Volvo I-shift has to be the best sorted automated 'box on the market and is streets ahead of the Mercedes Benz Actros of which I also have used. When you reload at the mine, what do you bring back, is it just empty pallets and cages etc?

Yes, because it was pulling 3 trailers it was in the heavy duty mode, not much fuel efficiency but it gives you the maximum torque, the truck is rated for 135 ton so it is definitely doing what was designed for, is not just empty pallets, it is also all the recycling materials and the dirty linens that are being used, used cooking oil etc.

Hi Tony, good trip, you definitely sounded a lot more relaxed being back on your usual run and the roads you enjoy. I've been watching along for quite a while now and the Wubin Assembly Yard always seems to annoy the @%$# out of you. Suggestion for your fleet team, would it be worth sectioning the assembly area into say a quadrant on a map bounded by Grt Nrthn Highway and the Mullewa-Wubin Road say North and West with the townsite as South. Then when the TGE guys drops the trailers they can let fleet know approximately what quadrant. Just a thought - I know that yard is a bit of dog's breakfast, I've driven through it myself a couple of times, but any suggestions may make things a bit easier for you. Stay safe out there.

We always tell them when we are leaving from the destination to what time we are going to be in Wubin and what trailer we are going to drop off and then what time we are anticipated to be back in the depot, but usually the dog runners won’t be there until after 19:00, Monday to Friday, no dog runs in the weekend.

@@roadtraindrivingwithtonyivanq would it still be possible for the approximate trailer location to be advised to you via text - I have worked previously for another transport company and this process had a good degree of success - just saved a world of time to not have to drive around the Wubin yard. Oh, I work with a little shit, he told me he keeps in touch with you.

Once you have the necessary experience and knowledge plus good references with clean driving records it is easy to get the job, they are always looking for a good reliable drivers and it’s in the top five best paying companies.
