The fact that both of those two plane bodies survived their environment after all those years is amazing. Love your dedication in getting the fallen back to their families after all those years.

Not really..bogs are the best for preserving items. The low, or non-existing oxygen levels in a bog will preserve everything for the rest of time pretty much.

It makes me ill anytime i see a rare aircraft improperly salvaged from the water. With proper care that aircraft could have had all of the silt vacuumed from its fuselage to reduce its weight. Then carefully attach the necessary amount of cables at all of the proper lift points. Carefully placed in a barge with blocking under the plane again the correct support areas. That plane was carelessly removed I’m sorry to say and hopefully they have learned from this

These Russians could really care less…ham-fisted, not professional at all…. What a shame.
A russian P-40 What a rare aircraft good find :D
As someone who loves human preservation and mummification I would absolutely love to have seen his body. I think it's fascinating that the mud, gas, and oil embalmed and preserved his body for 75 years. It's incredible! (Sorry if this sounds weird 🤷🏼♂️ it's just my thing)

You must have loved the show Bones and her visit to a body farm, eh?? And I would have loved to see this one too. Folks find it hard to believe yet if they search out the "Bog Man" who is over 1000 years old and very well preserved of the wooly mammoths and wooly rhinos who also were well preserved for over 10000 year ago. Then there are the WWI soldiers perserved in ice in the alps. A bit of fact you might have not seen but can look up, a camera posed over looking several bodies at a body farm and it is not uncommon to have local animals come for a bite or two. But a flesh eating deer?!?! Caught on camera, having not just one bite but several, chewing and swallowing human remains.
Watching that il-2 being broken up as they attempted to recover it reminded me of Raiders of the Lost Ark, "..you would use a bulldozer to search for a China cup..".
A very interesting programme, with some fascinating finds being details. I'm glad that Sergie has finally had a fitting and honourable burial. May he rest in peace.
Great footage, and how wonderful to have those pilots repatriated to their homeland Shame more care wasn't taken to support the structure when lifting it from the seabed onto the recovery vessel
A fascinating connection with history.
So many great parts. Thank you.
Completely Fascinating!
Think of the WW2 artifacts still waiting to be discovered in Russia wouldn't surprise me it an intact tank or artillery piece is just sitting in some remote farmers barn .🤔
gotta say the bring up of the IL2 at the end was a real shit show.. no others words except that...

It was better off without that crew finding it. A sling with wide straps, better rigging, or even a rudimentary cradle could have at least got it up mostly intact. You get one chance to get irreplaceable history that survived being shot down and 80 years under water to the surface. Take the time to get it right.
The pilot was still there after 75 years? Find that hard to believe. Amazing he was finally found and his family was allowed peace finally.

Considering several factors, then it is not so hard to believe. First, swamps have so mycg peat moss growing in them, there is veary little oxygen in the water. Second, as they mentioned is that the engine oil/hydraulic oil, and gasoline, also acted as embalming fluids and did not allow bacteria to grow and consume the body. But the peat alone is a great preservative. A great example is the bog man who was well preserved for over 1000 years.
Another very good and interesting video. You are doing very dangerous work. Thank you and stay healthy. 🙂👍 Еще одно очень хорошее и интересное видео. Вы делаете очень опасную работу. Спасибо и будьте здоровы. 🙂👍

Very interesting - thank you.
Thank you for the "English" narration, Svetlana.
On the P40, have you got the serial number or the construction number. The construction number was often painted on the pilots seat armour. Would be good to identify this Curtiss P40. На Curtiss P40 у вас есть серийный номер или номер конструкции. Строительный номер часто наносился на броне сиденья пилота. Было бы неплохо опознать этот Curtiss P40.
Amazing 👌
Several comments on the ''lack of care taken to lift the plane'' these People worked with what they had to work with, a ''proper'' extraction would have required a lot more of everything, money being one, the expense of this kind of work is unreal, I for one person give credit to these people for applying themselves to do the best they could for what they had to work with, Thank You for Your Efforts.
One battle hardened plane, several different serial numbers rebuilt from other planes. Sent back into action, to be shot down for the last time.
Magnificent. Respect
Man! I sure would like to stumble upon a discarded collection the next time I’m Europa!!
Around the 1:26 mark she says, "Stupid relatives just threw them away," Lol, o.k.
I guess the family was grateful
Don't these recovery teams inspect their straps and equipment?
Buenos videos ojala los pusieran en español me encanta todo lo relacionado con la guerra
The irony of finding war relics in Ukraine seems a poignant reminder of history repeating itself.
Glad these pilot's can now rest in peace and the families can have peace of mind.

Why did you use an apostrophe with "pilot's"? It is not a possessive. The plural of pilot is "pilots".

@shimshonbendan8730 you can't understand what I meant. Or are you the kind of person that trying to find something wrong with the way I said it or worded the word pilot's.
Always interesting when old artifacts are found but what is with the poster of US Currency behind the female officer in the Russian Police Station? At the 2:49 mark in the video.
I wish that war was in the history books.
Wow
I love her voice.
I'm still not sure I like the idea of disturbing a fallen soldier's site with the body still there - I just get an uneasy feeling like it's disrespectful to disturb it somehow ( no judgement on the crews working these sites...I'm just not sure I could do it ). I really LOVE the recovery of the old machines and other relics...great to see them displayed and get a second life as a memoir or token of past history - AND - that they will never again be used for death or destruction...only education and wonder !!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍®️💯
07:00 how not to recover relics.

IL2 recovery was useless. Just leave it a few meters submerged and slide a wooden cross platform underneath support middle and both wings easy !
The pilot Ejected!!!
Why can’t I ever find shit like this! 🤣

What a shame the fools had no idea how bring the plane to the surface. It would have taken lots of time but those remains could have been raised properly

Rise of what? Surely recovery of a WWII aircraft and the pilots remains is grammatically correct?
Not exactly the world's most sympathetic aircraft restoration! Fairly cack handed springs to mind!
Zelensky will take it!
That plane salvaging was careless. It was a real spectacle before it broke up

I don't really like Russia. Not after the things they did to their country and countrymen. They took away their freedom and they would Throw people in jail for nothing. But the Russians in this episode of World War 2 pilot were very brave men. They gave their so that Germany could not win they're country. I have all the respect in the world for them. Actually I have respect for every russian soldier and every eegular german soldier. I do not respect the SS or the gastopo police of Germany. The regular german soldier was like any other soldier. Because people lied to them, they thought they had to fight to protect Germany. They did the same thing that the Russians would do or the Americans would do. It is the SS and their secret police that made everything bad in Germany. They were fold by Hitler and his lies. They were to the point that it was a cult. Kind of like the republicans and Trump in the US. There leader said ir, and they believed it in World War 2 Germany. Just like it's happening here in the united states with trump and his maga nazis. This world can never let anybody come to power who thinks like Hitler did!!! It can be Germany, France, Holland, The USA. It does not matter where that country is. But we cannot allow someone like hitler to rise in it. It would spell disaster for the entire world. In 70 or 80 more years they will be finding the remains of Fighter jets, And weapons just like they do today. That is if the world survives somebody like that.
A American pilot or what ? I would hope they would contact the government of that pilot hopefully if it’s true ?
