@@joaogomes9405 No, not really. It was Micah who insisted on robbing that ferry in Blackwater. He's clearly very self centered and it's really obvious that, aside from Abigail (very briefly at that too), he didn't give 2 shits about the other gang members, especially the minorities. He's not very bright either; he suggested there's a rat in the gang during Chapter 6. That's a lot of attention he brought to a problem he's directly involved in for no good reason. During American Venom, Dutch says "Same as you, I suppose" to John, who was in a standoff against Micah. Micah didn't catch on to Dutch's not so subtle hint. It's more or less Dutch's failing mental health as a result to the events leading up to RDR2. The failed bank robbery in St Denis resulting in Hosea's death was the icing on the cake. Remember that Micah cares about himself and only himself. He cut a deal with the Pinkertons that allowed him to abuse Dutch on a fake promise that he wouldn't swing.

I thought the scene where agent Milton and Ross show up at the camp outside of Rhodes was a better showcase of that bond. All of them, their wonders about Dutch and his slipping grip on himself, still went to arms to defend him and show that they aren't just some pushovers that will bend a knee over a promise to freedom. That scene, was the best in my opinion.

I like the idea that Uncle just showed up and Dutch was like “Huh, okay.”

The story of how John joined the gang is pretty poetic and perfectly illustrates Dutch's downward spiral. At first, Dutch was willing to save a random 12 year old boy from a hanging, and now he leaves a man he's known for nearly two decades to hang.

RD2 has left such an impact on my life that I can't ever let anyone bad-mouth this master peice. I cannot recall the last time I've shed tears for an MC, the way I did for Arthur Morgan. Thank you RockStar for going above & beyond for us.

Micah was such an effective antagonist bcs he managed to tore up the gang and manipulate Dutch forcing him to break his long maintained loyalty with the older members of the gang by exploiting his weakness, ego. He appealed to Dutch’s inner desires every turn of the way to advance his own agenda because he knew the only thing that truly kept Dutch moving was his firm ideals, so Micah kept the fire raging which managed to engulf the entire gang in the process. Hate Micah all you want but he truly is one antagonist that you just love to hate for all the right reasons.

I miss the gang,I miss them being happy from Chapter 2-4. Hosea's Death and Arthur having TB are the reasons the gang fell apart. They are the two most important members to stop Dutch from being crazy.

Pretty sure when Hosea and Arthur play dominoes he says Bessie taught him how to play not Grimshaw

That wouldn't work though, since Blackwater took place just a little bit before the events or RDR2, so unless they pace it extremely slowly, it wouldn't be a good idea Unless you meant that the story ends with the blackwater incident, and the "starts" was just a typo

I have a feeling that's why we never see Mac Calendar... RDR3 main protagonist...? I agree with you on the story for the most part. The opening cutscenes should show the development of the gang including John's acceptance into the gang, as well as maybe a few others. The main story will begin with the new main protagonist (again, perhaps Mac, but could be someone entirely new) and throughout the game play the other members are introduced and join the gang. The only problem is that in order to keep with tradition, they would have to have the main protagonist die and allow you to play in an epilogue as Arthur Morgan, which would be nearly impossible if the game includes the Blackwater massacre, since they immediately flee into the Grizzlies afterword. So, most likely it will not be Mac, but someone else who dies shortly before the Blackwater heist, and we will finally be able to play freely as Arthur in New Austin and all of West Elizabeth.

13:37 when that music starts playing it makes me kind of want to start crying. It reminds me so much of watching spaghetti westerns with my grandpaw growing up

Sadie Adler has to my favourite npc of the gang, she's cold and stricken with grief in the beginning but slowly becomes a cold blooded killer to the o'Driscolls and a badass woman of the gang even saving them, keeping them strong and together when Dutch went missing.

This whole backstory would make the most amazing prequel to rdr2, the formation of dutchs gang and how the grew to the point of their downfall

I liked it when Hosea and Lenny was still alive and dutch didnt have brain damage. I also loved playing as Arthur. My favorite game charcter alongside with nathan drake

The next prequel for the game should be about Landon Ricketts in his prime and what led him to become so legendary that even John and Arthur knew of.

This video made me emotional just watching it, the start mostly I felt like i knew Arthur, Hosea, Sean and the others. It was a fun journey playing story the first time, but the second time i knew what to do and when to do it

I'm so stupidly emotionally attached to this game, it's pathetic but so awesome at the same time 😂 Its my favourite story ever, including books, movies, series, the lot. I was blown away by every aspect of the game. I remember being stoned out my tree crying like a wimp on that last horse ride 😂😂 It's some emotional stuff. This is a great video, well presented and interesting the whole way through. I literally got that sinking feeling hearing about Arthur and Dutch.

Great video mate! What's incredible to me is that the characters in this game have such a detailed bakcstory in addition to the story we experience in the actual game(s)

I would love to play the rise of the Van Der Lind Gang and it would be cool that instead of sequels the rdr games countinue as prequels

They were Irish, so it makes sense. I’m Irish and we pronounce it the same way.

Red Dead 3 should be playing as Hosea and meeting Dutch and starting the gang. You just keep playing as one of the best characters in the series.

i love watching these videos they are incredible and awesome to find out extra back story and easter eggs great work man

I’ve been watching you for about 2 years and this is by far the best quality video you’ve ever made, well done this was actually mad I felt like I was watching a documentary.

thanks for this you gave me inspiration for a character and a gang I’m making for the story

such a great game with really well developed characters, I have felt legitimately angry over how the government just betrayed John after being their errand boy for a year, or the callousness of Dutch's betrayal of Arthur during both the oil fields raid and on the mountain near Beaver Hollow like I felt actual anger, I think that emotion from me is a testament to how well the game is written

6:41 would be nice if grimshaw tought ME how to play dominoes

The story needs a DLC where you play through the creation of the gang plzzzzz

Toby Thompson Yeah, but that was all RDR1 told us. There was more than enough room for a prequel. Now, however, with RDR2, it wouldn’t work. We already know the exact date in which each member joined, how they joined, why they joined, where they joined, and when they died. Another prequel has no reason to exist.

I’ve always fantasised about a 3rd entry in the series being similar to the movie Young Guns, where you see the “Regulators” form, I’m almost certain R* took inspiration from that movie because there’s a scene where they save Billy the kid from local law and how it plays out reminds me a lot of John’s introduction to the gang. Seeing Dutch and Hosea travelling through the states slowly meeting younger versions of the characters we’ve come to know and form a gang would be amazing

Listening through this entire video with high quality headphones was amazing. The music score used in the beginning especially is a banger.

If there is ever to be a Red Dead Redemption 3, this ought to be the plot. I would love for them to make a game filling in the blanks of some of the mysteries of the gang's origins.. Even knowing all that we do about the earlier years of this group, I still believe it would be an entertaining to play through it all.. Maybe this time, we play as Dutch

Little known fact: Young Dutch van der Linde was in actuality Steven Seagal.

It's crazy that I'm on my fourth playthrough of RDR2, and I'm still left in a state of awe after watching a montage of its gameplay footage!

thank you so much for making this video. I had questions about when some members joined, and for what reason( Specifically Pearson, Molly, Reverend and Uncle ), and hearing the origins, and how they actually helped the poor by giving away their score in the beginning, it really puts a perspective on the gang. Like I had never heard of that lol. But yeah, great video!

I think one of the best parts of red dead online is that you can interact with different members of the gang like Sean and Sadie Adler
