The Rise Of The Stuarts: James I's Bloody Dynasty | Game Of Kings | Chronicle

The Stuart dynasty lived through arguably the most eventful, bloodthirsty and trying period in British history, and this series - hosted by Professor Kate Williams - reassesses the royal house's history and legacy in a whole new light.
Following the death of Queen Elizabeth I in 1603, King James VI of Scotland claims her throne along with a new title of King James I of England. He faces numerous attempts on his life, including the notorious Gunpowder Plots, and the threat of the terrifying Thirty Years War raging on the continent.

James VI/I faced real logistics problems because, back then, he couldn’t get on zoom or Skype to talk to followers in Scotland and them happy. He had to rely upon handwritten letters delivered by presumably loyal couriers. It’s difficult to fathom, compared to today’s technological world, the problems that caused him.

Hey can you do a video about the great famine & darkness from 1315 to 1320? According to accounts people ate theirs kids, dugged dead people to eat rotten flesh, cooked robber and their shoes to eat, ate all grass in many towns and the horrors just kept getting worse

That’s a rumor. Allegedly; his estranged mother Mary sought to defame him with fraudulent paintings showing him as a homosexual because of her hatred for Protestants. He was apparently very close friends with a man, and they would share a bed at times. However, sharing a a bed could have been a way to stay warm. I don’t know either way, but I will tell you that it’s obvious historians hate him and the Bible he commissioned. So I’m inclined to think it’s a defamation attempt.

Calling the conspirators of the Gunpowder Plot religious fanatics but not calling James one as well is definitely one-sided. Given his obsession with witches and Christianity over-all I'd say he was a greater fanatic.

I am part of the Stewart clan, the clan started after 1066 in Scotland. They were originally from Brittany, not Iberia. The term Jacobites means followers of James. I would love if they were of African descent, but alas, it is not so. I do have Neandertal dna, but no African that I am aware of.
