On our debut episode of 'Efiri Tete' We take a deep dive into the history of arguably the greatest city in Ghana, Kumasi.
Kumasi is the capital city of the Ashanti Region and is very rich in history and culture. Their language is the most dominant in Ghana, [TWI]
-
Together with our guest speaker, Teacher Osei Bonsu Sarfo Kantanka, a Historian and Researcher at Pedagogy International, and an official at the Manhyia Palace, we learn about Kumasi's great history and how it became what it is today.

Everything should be written and documented. Oral history leads to exaggeration, misinterpretation. I taught Social studies at JHS in 2000, when I first graduated from Akrokerri Training College. It was very interesting.

You have to explain why Kwaman became Kumasi as a result of Komfo Anokye uniting all the states to form Asanteman.

The tree is Kuma tree, not Kum tree. Dormaa was at the south side of Bantama where we have the Sofoline Interchange, according to my grandmother.

You would get more subscribers if you do this in English. We in the diaspora wants to learn our history too. I guess I won't subscribe

We're working on adding subtitles to our videos soon. We believe this will solve the problem of the communication barrier. However, we can't make the videos in English as it will defeat the whole purpose of teaching our culture with our mother tongue and preserving the little bits of our heritage that we have left. Thanks for the feedback though.
