The Rise of GEORGE WEAH: From Soccer Star to PRESIDENT of LIBERIA

George Weah’s life has seen him move from a childhood in the slums of the capital of Liberia, Monrovia, to Europe's most famous football clubs and now President of Liberia.
Weah's soccer exploits, and his charitable work off the field made him a hero to a country divided by tribe, politics and a brutal civil war… At some point his charitable work even put him on a collision course with the Warlord and former Liberian President Charles Taylor to such an extent that Weah feared for his life.
In this episode of African Biographics, we look at the interesting life story of the man known as "King George" to his supporters.

This video is hugely under-researched and tends to present a one dimensional view of Weah, his so-called humanitarianism and the Liberian political environment. Primarily, I acknowledge that Weah as a footballer brought great pride and joy to Liberia and would forever be appreciated for achieving such unprecedented sporting feats. However, as a statesman, he's a complete disgrace and violation of the sacrosanctity of the Liberian presidency. To say the least, he's an incompetent, unserious, corrupt, irresponsible, perverse and gullible individual whose leadership has practically dragged Liberia down the gloomy paths of decadence, violence, poverty, destitution, illiteracy, division and anarchy. Today, Weah and his cohort of ill-informed, belly-driven disappointment of a cabinet continue to pilfer state resources and market their ignorance, thus bringing unending embarrassment to the country. From countless and evident state-sponsored looting which has led to an economic catastrophe to the miserable reality of creating a nearly ungovernable state where violence and ignorance stand tall, George Weah is an anti-thesis of everything a determined and good leader represents . In fact, he's seemingly a doom to Liberia's future, a strooge of the devious political class and an eternal regret to the Liberian electorate who irrationally entrusted him (in all of his glaring unpreparedness) with the highest duty of the land.

His life story is interesting and somewhat improved my opinion about him as a person. But I still think, he is not a good president and you are too much celebrating him for the background and not actions. You did not mention the amazing success of Johnson Sirleaf, who brought peace to Liberia after the civil wars, rehabilitated child soldiers, stepped down peacefully after 2 terms and handled the civil war in neighbouring Ivory Coast (influx of refugees) and ebola epidemics. She trully deserves both her Nobel peace prize and Ibrahim prize. And he disputed her win in 2005 election and only bowed down to the pressure of other leaders, while in 2014 his presidential campaign was supported by former warlords and even Charles Taylor took his part himself from the prison - just to get rid of Sirleaf´s regime and collaborators and with a hope, that Weah will be easily manipulated. He is probably a good guy, but not really smart or effective and has too much self-confidence and conflicts with the previous peaceful regime. Liberia is economically collapsing :(

Many, many uncountable developments ,such as Road building ,electricity to all, free education , scholarships, hospitals, n building Peace among Liberians ,are some of the services that He President Weah is doing or has done, I want the Liberian people to give him another 6 years mandate so that he will do all his unfinished projects that he began since 2019. President George M. Weah he is the leader of the youthful generation. May God accept his wishes to lead Liberia to prosperity n permanent peace in Jesus might name - amen ! ! !
