Just saw Static-X live on July 20th and they sounded exactly like I would have expected them too sound 10 years ago. Wayne is gone and forever missed, but Xero is the best possible replacement and he nailed Wayne's parts 100%!

The problem with static-x is they make excuses why they aren't playing the new shit 2 years later. No band as big as they are (with pandemic considered) in modern music has put out an album and then only 3 years after its released, finally play the songs live "because we want to save it for our next headlining tour". BEEN 2 FUCKING YEARS SINCE PROJECT REGENERATION VOL. 1 CAME OUT!! They'd been on a few tours since. They had no excuse because I called them out on FB this past weekend and I flat-out accused them of misleading the crowdfund patrons and that Edsel and Tony are just being typical L.A. rock star cash-grabbers.

Some incorrect information here: 1) Ken Jay left before the recording of Shadow Zone because he was not pleased with the direction of their radio friendly oriented sound. He wanted it to be more aligned with Machine and Wisconsin Death Trip. 2) Wayne brought back the name Static-X with his solo band members without telling his members and then asked Tony for the the permission of the name use. Tony and Koichi wanted to return, as long as Tera did not get in the way, which did not happen. Wayne was so sucked into Tera's Kool-Aid that Tony and Koichi's image for being in Static-X, as well as decisions made by Wayne were affected. 3) The hernia causing the Static-X tour to be "postponed" was made up. Police records show that Wayne and Tera were caught on a drug bust at a checkpoint stop on your in Kentucky. They posted bail and had to go home. Tony did not ask for money because there was no more money to give. All the guys have been wanting to get Wayne back but Tera was the true downfall of it all. The reunion after his death was their farewell because the first memorial at the Whisky, Tera banned members of Static-X as well as their old crew from before she came around. She committed suicide probably because she felt guilty that Wayne died on her prescription drugs. A lot of people will for sure ask me how I know this and I don't give a damn if they don't believe. - Signed, a friend of Wayne, Tony, Koichi, and touring crew members.

One of my best friends is Nick Oshiro who played drums in Static-X for about 5 years. I talked to him often when he was on tour and he told me how crazy it was at times to keep up with that lifestyle but he looked up to Wayne and I remember how shaken he was when Wayne passed away. Nick is an extremely talented drummer and passionate musician and it took a lot for him to walk away from all of it when he left. I think Wayne kind of just went sideways from all of the partying and marrying that porn actress...and in reality even Tony who was there since the beginning couldn't get through to him and the whole thing was very sad. However, Static-X had some very good songs and an identifiable sound...and for those reasons I think it's great the band is out there because people still want to hear it. Replacing someone like Wayne seems impossible, but if done in a way to honor the legacy it's admirable in a sense even if part of it IS about money. Look at Journey...they were about to give up and found Arnel Pineta 15 years ago and have been touring in arenas ever since which seemed impossible after losing Steve Perry years before that. I don't think anyone should wish these guys any ill will...they paid their dues.

I'd say the biggest reason for their downfall was that they showed up at the tail end of the nu-metal era. The music industry was changing to more radio friendly rock at the turn of the millennium, so bands like nickelback and others like them were getting all the attention.

Static-X is killing it with Xero standing, and doing a great job paying homage to the man Wayne Static was before the drug use got out of control. Important to remember that these guys built Static-X together over 15 years of constant hard work. Not a single one of us truly knows the group's dynamics because I doubt any of us were in the tour bus with them every day for those months and years they were on tour together. Calling it a "cash grab" because Wayne died before the band had a chance to reconcile is silly parasocial nonsense driven by reading too many shitty articles written by hack now unemployed metal writers. The band has the permission of Wayne's family to do what they've been doing since a year before this awful video was made. That's all we as fans of Static-X need to know, and we should respect it for what it is. If you don't like it, move on. No need to try and drag them for your shit take on their relationships which you saw through a 1 inch by 1 inch square cut in the wall.

So since Wayne we have had two versions of his xero thing and the lame milk toast by the numbers metal fans that just want something loud to identify with due to their extreme blandness in music tastes are just totally fine with a fake ass singer. I was there at the memorial service for Wayne Static at the Whiskey A Go Go. It was said by Terra Wrey that she was going to be releasing the unused music from Wayne.... I rejoiced with everyone there on the prospects of having one last time to get down to the sound of Evil Disco one more time. The fact that she died before the attempt could be made had me crestfallen, cuz I thought it would die with her (though I blame her for Yoko Onoing the split and downfall of Wayne after COS). Nevertheless I am happy that Static X have returned with the founding members (I will cede the fact its on the bones of Wayne rather than memory) having the reigns to put out more Evil Disco than Terra. Either way more music from my favorite band that introduced me to Metal! \m/

Dude. Pfft. Whatever. I loved Static-x the very first time I heard them and they've been my favorite ever since. I got to see them in Dec '19 and if you went to one of the reunion shows you then you'd no longer be questioning their reasoning for this whole process with the the Frankenstein album. No they had no plans of reconciling when Wayne was all here, true. But listen to what Tony has said about the situation. There's plenty of people in this world that can relate to losing someone to drugs. Wayne(who was/is everything in my world) chose a path and it changed him. Tony says, in a clip that was shown in the video, how he never got the chance to reconcile. Had that happened, of course its speculation but it's reasonable to think that they must likely would've patched things up. They would've gone on to create more music together. Can't say for sure obviously. That's why I say their intent with the new album is genuine. Being at the reunion show was to bear witness to the band's grief. Tony especially. He was in tears as much as he was trying to mask it. They hid Xero in a mask because it wasn't about him. And we all know that no matter the band, the vocalist is the focus. It was their way of keeping that focus on Wayne. They "found" more than just isolated vocal tracks. If you're gonna have such strong opinions about the band as to make a KZread video and entice people to engage in a dialogue about it, you might ought to get your facts straight. Yeah the shit with Tripp was kinda shady but you know, piss on that fucking piece of shit pedophile. It was material that involved Wayne so they wanted to use it. Tripp got his credits on he album for but that doesn't take awayfrom the POS that guy is, the reasons why they didn't want to be associated with him. It's not like when the material was initially made that the band knew what Tripp was doing. I think it's fucking amazing how the album came together and m forevergrateful to have it. If you listen to the babe explain the work they put in, the time and effort you can really appreciate the production. Amazing. It's give be a double album and Xero did contribute. They've toying with continuing Static-x after the second album is done, like creating all new music. I'd guarantee that Xero would have his own Edsel face should they indeed decide to continue as a band. Can't say I'm too excited about that notion, but who knows. Xero did an excellent job on the album and on the tour though, absolutely. So hard off to him there. Wayne, by his account and others that knew him, loved to make music that made people move. And I'd bet he'd be happy to know that the rest off the band did him this honor, that his music made us dance and headband one more time 🖤🖤 Longest comment ever...if you could make it here🙄

Interesting long comment indeed. As a long time Static-X fan, I did appreciate the work they did to complete & release songs that Wayne had started. I've seen Static-X many times & have met them all various times before Wayne passed away. I don't know how genuine Tony Campos is. People usually don't change. And it's sad to think that it takes a death in tbe family to realize your mistakes. I think Tony probably feels guilty and is trying to make amends for what he couldn't accomplish while Wayne was still alive. At the end of it all, if Static-X continues, it loses its genuine feeling of "In Wayne's memory' to becoming a cash grab...

I've never been super huge into Static-X, but I have been to a bunch of their shows over the years and I do enjoy their music. They are one of the few bands I've seen that sound just like their records live and put on a great no nonsense kickass show. I remember when Trip joined the band, he seemed disinterested in actually playing the music and flirting with all the raver girls in the see through fishnet tops at the front of the stage. Everyone else is over there rocking out, and he's way over there by himself on the other side of the stage spitting into girls mouths. No shit. I was not shocked when he got busted, I thought it was only a matter of time. Dude was a creep and anyone could see it coming from a mile away. I also remember one of the last shows I saw, it was during their last album cycle, when Waynes pornstar girlfriend/wife entered the picture. She truly was the Yoko-Ono of the band. It was a lazy, un-energetic performance, which was un-characteristic, Wayne looked wasted and she was on the side of the stage the whole time with her boobs literally hanging out. He couldn't take his eyes off her, and frankly neither could the audience, but it seemed like everyone else in the band was weirded out with her being there all the time, like you could tell the body language was "WTF is she even doing here?". Even in press interviews you could tell they were obviously madly in love with each other but she truly was a succubus is there ever was one. It's a shame Wayne died, but at same time, I'm not surprised. He was living fast, and he died fast, all because of her. He truly changed when he met her.

However, I love the fact that they are taking a lot of his unused vocals and making something out it them. As a matter of fact, a lot of the unused vocal tracks came from the "Shadow Zone" sessions. So they e been tucked away for a very long time. Anyway, and them recruiting Edsel was just a smart move. He and Wayne were really good friends and went on tour a lot together. So Edsel knows and almost perfects Wayne's stage presence and movements. He's doing a fantastic job so far. I've seen them twice now since their reforming. They put on such a great show. I'm honestly just disappointed in this video. I saw the Static X reunion set in Adelaide for Winsconsin Death trip with Wednesday 13 and Dope. The show they put on was unbelievable, they were immersive with the crowd, they played with fantastic energy and at the end of the gig, all the original members spent 5 minutes shaking everyone s hands and speaking to everyone, all except Zero, which knew that he is just merely the voice portraying Wayne, and went back stage so that way the band could end the night interacting and thanking the crowd that came to see them. The look in their eyes were musicians that missed their friend, And love composing, playing and performing for the fans that meant so much to them and Wayne, which part of his reason of his suicide was because Sony were withholding the release of their music because they felt it wouldn't "hit the mark" in their current economy. This video is honestly a fuckin cashgrab.

He allowed his guitarist Valor kand to take over under verbal agreement that Valor would change the name because Christian death was Rozz's creation. Essentially valor turned his back on the verbal agreement and changed the name back to Christian death. Rozz started recording under "christian death ft Rozz Williams" along with Rikk Agnew (the original Christian deaths second guitarist) and eva o who was Rozz's wife. Idk I just found that funny.

As someone who listened Project Regeneration vol. 1 around 15-20 times already I must say the best songs are the new ones. I love the whole album, it's mastered and mixed perfectly. It's solid proof that the Static-X sound is needed. The big question will be vol. 2, I think the demos run out and that will be a completely new album but I have faith in the original lineup, they crafted vol 1 really good. They are killing it in live, shame the EU tour is swifted to 2022. So all in all I don't think it's a crashgab. Crashgabs are the idiotic movies in the theaters where they rob you ang shit in your face. Tony released 4 singles and glimpses from every song in the promo videos to prove that they really working the material not just talking about it. And it become a really good album my third favourite Static-X album for the records. I think they deserve respect, for their work at least.

I’m going to have to disagree on a few points. Is this a cash grab? Yes, but I feel like it’s disingenuous to frame the question in that way because literally every freaking thing made in the music industry money is involved. It’s also important to note that without making money, none of your favorite musicians would ever had made it in the music industry, it’s not a charity service where they just play their music for free, they need to support themselves financially and if they can with their music than there is really no problem with that imo. It’s how they go about it that can turn that into something negative. Pointing that out is like pointing out the sky is blue and expecting an applauses or validation for your amazing discovery, yes, they do have money in mind. However I would say that from the countless interviews I read with Tony, they are doing there best to make it a legitimate static x record, which now after having a few months to digest it, this is definitely a static x record through and through. Is it better than there best records? Nope, but it definitely is better than cult of static IMO which was not bad but kinda felt dry and flat (worst static x record but not a terrible album) Songs that featured Zero on vocals sounded like Machine album Wayne era with a mixture of Cannibal album Wayne era, very harsh and heavy vocals. The production is top notch, probably some of their best to date. Do some songs feel stitched together like a Frankenstein esqe jigsaw puzzle, sure. However with what they were working with, the end product is fine, rough around the edges but still a decent static x record. Best songs on record Hollow All these years Worth dying for My destruction Bring you down Dead souls Something of my own Glad to see some effort put into a static x documentary style video, not many people know of or remember static x. @14:00 They never said he was their "hero" or "beacon of morality". Trash video. I personally saw them on their 20th anniversary tour and they paid homage to Wayne, but that's it. They always wanted to keep the Static-X show going, but Wayne was twisted with his drug use and obvious enchantment from his wife. I mean, christ, just look at the interview videos with Wayne and Tera. He looks absolutely trashed. He's a mess. And when the band died, and even after Wayne died, the band expressed sorrow that Wayne wasn't able to come back down to Earth to square things away. Even Tony talked in interviews about how he tried to reach out to Wayne and settle things, but Wayne was out to try to take the Static-X name for himself. And after Wayne died, the band got the family's blessing to continue on Wayne's image through a zombie-like persona by a person who would refuse to be personally identified (i.e. "xer0"). How could you do a video on Static-X like this and miss so many GLARING details that would've spelled out their later history. You're obviously a butthurt nu-metal junkie who - a self-admitted not fan of Static-X - decided to make this video just to trash on the band for daring to continue on, who consistently regard Wayne with respect at their shows. Trash video. Trash opinions. Throw this crap into the bin. Be gone, poser.

Wisconsin death trip was a 10/10 album…. The newer vocalist doesn’t even come close but I’m not gonna pretend like I know a whole lot about it cause I’ll only catch the occasional new song on Pandora and then I usually skip through it at some point, but Wisconsin death trip has aged really well and is still fantastic, like every track is a banger on that album….I actually met Wayne at Ozzfest back in the day, me and my buddy, like a couple of stupid fan boys, asked him what he used for his hair, which he probably heard 100 times a day but we were young…. He just smiled at us and said “it’s an ancient Mexican secret“, he was really nice though, signed all our stuff…. And everyone else around us, really nice guy

I was always in between with Static X but I didn't know Wayne had past away... If I didn't see this I would have thought it was him behind the mask. I don't know I'm on the fence when leads pass away and keep going.. Yes.. I do understand the show must go on and many needs to be earned.. I get my favorite groups like Alice In Chains and Stone Temple Pilots had continued on without Layne and Scott but for me I just can't do it... I loved the energy and the vocals those two had put into their respect groups and as a fan that's all I know and love... I won't knock the new leads but they can't compare. Also that's like someone else stepping in for Chris Cornell and singing lead for SoundGarden.. Or Chester to Linkin Park... Those two voices alone will never be replaced or matched... I wouldn't want anyone to take their spot....it would just feel wrong..

I understand that the new Static-X is basically making a cash grab off of old Wayne vocals, but I think the band genuinely cares for the music and their lost friend and wants to honor/celebrate him with the release of his old music. While the whole "Xer0" character is kinda weird, it seems to me like the band just didn't want to bring attention to the new singer and wanted the fans to only think of Wayne, at least for right now. Also, Project Regeneration Vol. 1 is a very good, high-quality album (in my opinion) and it seems like they are actually putting effort and work into the music. The band may be trying to make some easy money, but at least what they're putting out isn't bad.

I was attracted to Static-X due to their odd lyrics and techno vibe. I absolutely love 85% of their tracks. I never got to see them live, though. When I heard that Wayne had died, I knew that I never would be able to. It is sad. Most of the bands I used to listen to either sound like trash (KSE , Disturbed) now or don't make new music (Mudvayne). And now I won't have another Static-X album either. It was most definitely a cash grab from the band members and producers. But, I got 2 decent tracks from that album. Now, I'm going to go jam Machine.
