2022 Update - I felt like I needed to mention a thing or two since it's been almost two years since this video went up, supercell games are no longer developed by a group of 5 people, this changed in 2020-2021 when they started to expand the groups for each game. also, it seems lately things have been okay for the game, it is not nearly as dead as it was in 2020, you can say this video didn't age well, but most of it still stands true on why the game fell so hard 2 years ago and ever since, its been a steady climb back.

I don't know whether I'm considered an og, but i still remembered days before the electric wizard came out I played around 2016 when the game was super hype and after playing for like 2 years, i was already Level 12 and most of my cards in my main deck,hog cycle, are maxed The only difficult card to max out are legendaries because one couldnt request legendaries and they were really hard to get. I stopped playing in 2018 But 6 months ago, i tried it again, and in a spans of 2 months, leisurely pushed to arena 10, and surprisingly gotten two legendaries from opening chests. Then i got bored and delete it again

Its actually returning I think. Veterans like me are slowly coming back to the game. I was originally 14 when I first started this game, and now that Im 18 the game feels so fresh again. Ive been playing for 5 months, the only thing I complain about is the matchmaking. Overleveled players are everywhere lol

I remember being the Leader of a clan called Supernova (A Top 50 global clan and #1 UK) with a bunch of feeder clans and we agreed to do a merger with Nova Esports. Once they had all my members and created multiple feeders of their own they kicked me out, still have a Nova Esports Jersey and maybe one day I'll burn it in a sentimental piece of content. It tought me a great lesson, never trust anyone on the internet and more importantly never give over control of anything you have put time into and built. Made me have a distaste for the community of the game and therefore I quit moving to shooters on mobile, couldn't be happier with the outcome. Also great video Havoc been a sub for years maybe around 2017 time, much love!

I remember getting my first legendary on a Sunday morning with my older brother. He hadn’t gotten the witch yet and he wanted it badly, he said, “Yes I got the witch!” And I opened a chest and said “Yes I got a miner!” And he responded “NOOOO” he wanted to get a legendary before I did.

Miss the good old days playing CR and hoping that I can obtain a legendary card. Until Royale Pass appeared. And when you have to face level 13 players and Max out Star level cards when you're still level 10. I've been playing for 4 years but got stuck at level 10.

I still have no clue how I made it to Level 13 while being F2P and doing it in less than 3 Years....IIRC correctly The Legendaries I had on both My Accounts was: 1 Graveyard,2 Inferno Dragons,1 Princess,1 Electro Wizard,1 Mega Knight,and I think that’s it.....I remember watching a Clash Royale Video that towards the end Mentioned Brawl Stars,I made an Account for BrawlStars in December 2017 and stuck with it until Mid 2020 when I Broke my Phone and lost my Supercell Account............I miss those Accounts ;-;

Pretty sad it’s gone this way, the good old days is what made me comeback to play it again after a year, I got better. And now I don’t have that enjoyment of it anymore. You use to be able to have multiple mini accounts in CW1 no sweat. Now it’s a struggle to have one in CW2 and now I put all the minis I had or accounts I worked on for my friends all in a dead clan. Sad times. Now you need 32 max cards to be good in clan wars. We will see how the future goes for me and this game

Yooo I remember getting night witch from a free wooden chest it was hype and it was my first legendary it was sick

Now havoc has to make the rise and fall and rise of Clash Royal

I’ve been playing it since release and I have the badges they give you yearly to show for it, but in my opinion I feel like it’s been the same as when it first came out, yea they’ve added a bunch of new things and one of the most confusing things for me to get used to was the new clan wars. I don’t except tooo much crazy content from a mobile game especially a “real time strategy” game. I still enjoy it and it’ll always have a place in my life especially because of the time in highschool when I first started playing it lol

I loved your conclusion part, i still play clash royale just for that feeling,that vibe which we used to get back in 2016,what I believe is that this magic/feeling/vibe of golden days has kept the community motivated to still play the game,i rly hope that one big update will soon be there,which will make cr popular again and we'll experience that feeling again

here's the thing though, right before the conclusion segment you share the final tally of Clash Royale's popularity. That number read 11, I feel like 11% popularity for a 4-5 year old game is outstanding honestly. I don't think it's fair to ask supercell to try and get their game back to it's glory days.

Here in Italy the game is making a comeback, everyone in my school plays it including me

i introduced this game to my father from when it just came out and he is still playing it everyday till now and whenever i ask him if he is bored of it, he always say its still fun lmao

I spent very little money. Bought a few emotes and bought the pass a few times. I have over 200,000 donations on my main account. One level 13 and 2 level 12s...lol. I still enjoy the game, but barely ever play ladder and hate the new wars.

The hype when the lumberjack and log were announced was insane... definitely my favorite time in CR

Here after lvl 14 update. Seems like they have just made the game even more pay to win! Especially the fact that everyone is upset about, is the way they brought the update. They made everyone to update their cards to max level 13 before update with Slash Royale event where you could update cards at 50% cost. Further when the event was concluding, they introduced lvl 14 cards as if they want all of their players to use real money instead of in game gold to update all of their cards to max level.

One of the major issue for downfall of clash royale was Brawl Stars. Almost every youtuber started playing Brawl Stars and their contnet was and is always related to Brawl Stars. So, many people left Clash Royale and started playing Brawl Stars(including myself) as the game was a lot more versatile and fun to play.

First time playing Clash Royale at early register 2016 but my phone was broken so i didnt play till february 2017 (i still remember cause the game really helps me to relieve my stress when last exam of my elementary before graduate). I remember the game was really hype and i got new phone so i started playing again, i got addicted, spend some money, and watched alot pro guides. I was one trick xbow player struggle when the first time using it but after one year at august 2018 got master 1 league, since that i never playing Clash Royale again. Cause i find alot overleveled enemy than me, my old clan started to inactive, the game feels boring, and i dont have goals i feels its enough. But yeah i miss this game i hope it have another chance to rise again. Sorry for grammar.

I quit playing in 2018, simply because I had like no trophy gain for a few months, even though I was upgrading my cards and everything. It felt too pay-to-win to me, since you got the good cards so rarely. It was fun while trying to figure out decks in the lower arenas and advance and catch up to where my friends were, but as you started to get higher, it became a slog to try and get through arenas to me. Idk maybe I was just bad at the game but it just didn't feel worth it to play anymore, and I still don't really see a reason to go back to it.

The game started out amazing it had so much potential yet they messed it up because the money got to their head

I still remember the excitement that hit me when Chief Pat first showed Clash Royale, the time when where I'm staying is not one of the soft launch regions, and I had to download the game to my family iPad instead of my personal android phone. This was the first time that I was truly excited and dedicate a large portion of my time to a game that I truly love. At that time, the genre was very refreshing, and Clash Royale was truly the best mobile game in the market. Clash of Clans was such a grind at that time, where walls are expensive, but I still played that simply because there were no other truly great mobile games at that moment. I've been playing this game constantly for 5 whole years, and I can recall almost everything that was mentioned in the video. Ye good old days when cards and updates are amazing, legendary cards are rare. I still remembered the excitement that I felt when new cards and arenas are being added, and the moment when I got the first legendary card when it was rare. But the game just becomes stale in the past 1.5 years. Its a fact and no one can deny it. As a long time F2P player, I just feel that the game doesn't offer enough F2P content, and the challenges are getting stale. I was still logging in daily before the clan wars 2 update, but after it dropped, my frequency of logging in just went down really fast, to like every 3 days. I really want this game to have a resurgence of popularity, and be genuinely exciting once again, but I just feel that with the current update pattern, it would be almost impossible. As a log bait player for the last basically 4 years, I feel that this game is really skill dependent, where log bait can somehow still stand the test of time and not be completely nerfed. The skill dependent aspect of the game, and the fast pace of this game, with cartoony sound, visual effects and nice arenas, are things that I truly love about this game, where no other game can copy this formula and make a comparable game that I am able to indulge my spare time in playing for long term. The most recent time where I have genuine interest in the game is when the 1 card glitch happened, where chaos follows. It was a truly refreshing way to play the game, and it actually persuaded some of my friends that used to play Clash Royale to return. But this is not an official model, and developers are not able to overhaul the way that we play the game which makes this game boring. I seriously hope the developers can save this game, or at least win me over to logging in daily again to play this game, with interesting game mode or other amazing content.

Clash royal on the rise again

i started playing when it first came out my junior year of high school, and shortly stopped. me and a bunch of my friends started playing again last summer, and as of recently, it seems to be popular again. i see lots of clash roylae related tik toks and youtube videos, would love an update on the stare of clash royale npw

The only issue for me is it's matchmaking software. Idk who developed it but sometimes you just have to face a player who's maxed all his cards and your cards are at level 12.

Watched the whole video and it pretty much sums it up. Saw the decline in 2017 when Update got rare and the Game stale, Supercell took to long to deliver any content and still havent. Switched to Fortnite in 2017. Congrats for surviving this long with this game 👍

Matchmaking even more worst in classic and grand challenges with totally new cards added very frequently some are nerfed some are buffed, some are underrated, some are overpowered. I loose my patience, never expected from clash royale oh its Cash royale 💸. And yes. I quit.🚮

The pass royale value didn't age well💀

my little story I loved it and played religously got higher and higher in the arenas until i hit the leagues and after hitting the leagues i felt there wasnt much to progress to. sure ther were new cards and events but thats not why i downloaded the game in the first place so i quit and havnt touched it since.

I remember playing clash of clans on my dads phone everyday. When I finish playing he would uninstall it. This would continue every day until i found clash royale. Then the same thing happened except for clash royale instead of clash of clans

I remember when it felt amazing to get a Legendary card. Now it is just too easy to get and it doesn't feel the same. Also when the cancel button didn't work. I have a lot of good and bad memories with this game.

I remember going to school and find everyone playing it, and I've play COC for a while so I was excited to play a new Clash-related game. I remember starting clans with the homies just overall having a good time. I remember the day the Executioner came out and that was one of the craziest troops to go against atm. I remember getting my first legendary, I screamed my ass off getting the ice wizard. Good ole' times

Man im 32 and still playing it. After stopping Cr for 4 times I have to say the game now is better than ever and even as free to play player you can come pretty far.

i think the reason clash royale falls in the summers is because, from my experience, its a game that people play in school, during class and lunch etc. thus, when summer breka hits and people arent in school, they have far more options open to them

My first legemdary was a graveyard when I was 9 years old now 14, never forget that day when I got out of school and got on my phone so hyped to play, I hope it will come back up like 4 years ago😞😢🥺😭😖childhood game

I remember our clan being strong enough to crush others. Full clan very active. After the clan wars 2 update, everyone left the game and even our respected leader. I was an active co-lead at that time and all my fellow co-leads just left the game too. I kicked out inactive members hoping new people will come in. Some people joined but after a few days, they left because of our members being inactive. Our clan just don't do clan wars anymore. We were still a bit active a 2 months ago and a new leader was supposed to be appointed already since our old one didn't go online for so long. Until he decided to come back... and left after a day... Then he never came back and the supposed to be leader already even quit the game now. I was appointed as the new leader a few days ago. I don't know if I can still bring back the glory of our clan. I made a few changes even back then when I was still a co-lead. Back then the required trophy was 4000. I kept decreasing and decreasing it hoping new members will come and make our clan great again. The required trophy is now Zero. No one still comes in......

I recall playing the game when it first released, and in just a few weeks I felt underpowered against most players due to being f2p, and I expressed my frustrations to my friends who played the game and they agreed. I also recall talking about how matchmaking would've been better if it was based on card level instead of player level.

ik supercell definitely noticed this issue since the birth of the game and don't wanna fix it. Why? Developing Clash Royale was a business after all and you need money to pay for workers. They want us to spend money on and if they successfully pull bucks out of your pocket it is profit. "But it is 5 dollars to progress really fast". Oh yeah? Remember when you start the gamejust wanting to have fun? And now you end up paying for the game. It is just 5 dollars to you but with supercell it is $5 and $5 and $5 from players and players which generate millions. They let us play the game for free, but they want us to buy offers to have the best experience. The game in turn of course will lose the majority of players since most of gamers are casual and f2p. I feel like Supercell is saying: "We don't need a large playerbase, we prefer having a small community but everyone pays". I honestly love the game idea of real time competitive battle but Supercell just don't want f2p to have a good time. I open Clash Royale with expectations of joy and chill while playing, to then end with frustration and rage because of over leveled. I'm even considering quitting the game cause I am just stuck around my leauge.
