The rise and fall of Baghdad
During the rise of Islam, Baghdad was ruled by the Sassanid empire, the last ruler that was defeated by the Muslim army in 638 AD.
This city was to become the center of various rich traditions and cultures for the next five hundred years. We call this era the Golden Age, before being conquered and subsequently ravaged by the Mongol ruler Hulagu Khan.

Baghdad now is a desolate city, exhausted of wars and conflicts. I am not sure if Baghdad can revive again from its ashes but it is on my list to travel. Thank you Rihland, again. It was great to hear from you as always :)

It will survive , Europe had much worse situations in the dark ages and yet here they are, arabs used to rule the world and defeated the strongest empires in the world at there time and now they are the worst countries

Mongols sent diplomats before the invasion asking the caliph to surrender to mongol rule and pay tribute . He replied by insulting Hulugu . Not very smart considering they already knew what mongols were capable of
But,did they find any weapons of mass destruction.

Not as much as you expect, if at all. Mongols who ruled muslim lands converted to Islam and ruled over Muslims and Arabs for centuries. Ex. Ilkhanate and Golden horde, so that helped ease the tension. Nowadays I suppose Arabs would look at Mongol people as great warriors, but there won't be any sort of prejudiced hatred unless the Mongol mocks Arabs.
