The Right Way To Use a Two-Point Sling, With GBRS

Ойын-сауық

Mike Glover, a former Green Beret and owner of Fieldcraft Survival, sits down with Cole Fackler from GBRS Group. This veteran-owned organization provides elite tactical tier-one training to discuss the company’s new SBS (Second Best Sling).
The design is a simple, sleek two-point sling that converts to a single-point sling with a handy QD adaptor. The SBS can be customized to fit any body type with or without kit and can adjust for use with multiple weapon systems.

I was just an Infantry guy, but I invaded Iraq with the 82nd and did two more tours with 4th ID. I messed with one and two point slings my first tour, after that I just had a fast tech clip and about six inches of nylon tubing the rest of my career. I was alway in body armor, and could secure my rifle behind my nods bag, or my mag pouches depending on which side I wanted to keep it oriented. Now that I’m a civilian, and don’t even have body armor 😂 I have been playing with slings, they are a pain in the ass! 😂 I have homemade one/two point slings for my rifles now, and I miss just clipping my buttstock to my IBA. I did have a sling back then, but Ot was for going to chow, or the gym, ya know when I wasn’t stuck in IBA. 😂 And again I was just a plain ole grunt, so I don’t know nuthin and that’s the story I’m sticking too.

Then you know nothing! 🫡 I got out of RIP in 97 & within weeks my back was broken & we were detached at the time at Bragg with the 82nd, FISTER 2/319 we def were out in it more than the battalion or the other spec ops. I think I’d rather have a gunfighters duel with 98% of SO guys than a raging grunt like Dan-O Holloway (drinkin bros podcast) I was out before the fighting started but o know in 2nd Batt , we didn’t go out in the field for weeks or months . We were supposed to come in, kick some kinda ass within a…..less than a week, that’s fosho.the all Americans(AA) guys are out there, usually start to finish. So if you want to know how a tshirt fits or a sling hangs, prolly the dudes that have been attached to their gear for months at a time, not some super hero’s that come in, hand out asses & back to the chopper we go. I’ve been exposed to a spec ops outfit & a,…uppper teir reg army outfit & it’s like they are tougher & wiser about that kind of sh!t than most any military body. The 82 might be ground zero for being hardcore but not spec ops. & you can trust, their deployments are waaaaay different & rougher than & while uoure here. You’re here. Could be every day or maybe a week but 82, 101, 10mtn(?) hardcore yet not spec ops these guys are the ones you would be mistaken to underestimate. They know what works out there cuz they didn’t jump in blrrrt blrrrryt blzzzzdt CLEAER, & off to the chopper. I digress.

These guys are great I’m going to grab a few of these slings and support these guys. Cole and DJ are good dudes and Mike Glover is a professional student which is what I’m constantly training to be I’m not married to a particular system if I see a better way or different tactics I’ll evolve and I’ve watched enough of Mikes content I can tell he’s the same way. Just a quick example when DJ blew Mikes mind showing him that he doesn’t have to acquire his sights on a close pistol engagement he can break a shot accurately by using a Glock or Sig slide backplate as a point of reference I practiced just that drill a few weekends almost going through 1k rounds. It’s just refreshing to have guys that have been there and done it transfer this knowledge to us, the people they spent their careers protecting, thank you all for your service to our nation and continuing to give us the tools, training and mindset to be responsible citizens always prepared for the fight.

The best sling is still a piece of nylon webbing with a plastic backpack adjuster at the front. I've tried all the Gucci slings, VTAC, Blueforce, Haley, etc. The backpack strap is the GOAT. Slings are like gun oil. Some people will always insist on paying $300 per liter for "super-duper spec-ops tactical oil" while others have realized that the quart of motor oil on the workbench does the exact same thing.

Depends on your body type, and what you're doing with the rifle. I set mine up using the sling loop on my stock, and a chunk of paracord to connect near the magwell(I don't like how QDs rattle). I don't like having it down near the muzzle because it's something else to get hung up on shrubbery(same reason I don't like a bipod on the front of my gun all the time). But I did my time in reconnaissance, and my rifle sees more time in the bush than a flat range. Don't overthink it. It's pretty easy to move around in all different kinds of ways. Try a few and see what you like.

0:15 The sling isn’t coming out. It’s been out for a long time. It’s a decent sling but c’mon Mike at least pretend to know/care about the product you’re advertising. Also what happened to that Hydra mount you loved so much?

The trex arms sling is the best sling in the market, but no one will admit it because the owner of the company wasn’t a tier 1 operator. It does everything every other sling does (with the exception of 2-1) easier to quick adjust, better, lighter, simpler

Nobody is hating on Trex and his sling dude. People are just more inclined to think highly of sh!*t designed with input from actual guys who used sh!*t downrange to do sh!^t.

Fax, my favorite sling I’ve used ever and probably cheaper than GBRS slings

@@TacoTory556 You are correct. T-Rex is cheaper. $55.00+tax. GBRS is $59.99+tax. Not a huge difference though. I have both. Plus a Magpul. I've Spiritus Systems. I do prefer the GBRS sling over the T-Rex Arms because it's a little slimmer, I believer, and you can size it better for you body. It's all user preference when it comes to that. There isn't a huge difference. Yes, people simp, but I think for the most part people enjoy what they enjoy and prefer what they prefer. That's all. Nothing serious.

Gear companies have made billions over the course of the last 21 years because they have mastered the exploitive nature of marketing the next best thing. In our gear room, we had a large box full of stuff guys used, but discarded when they got the newest gadget. We called it the shit box.

Two point = If you work more, and shoot less. It covers 90% of usecases. Single point = Direct contact, no work at all. All focus is in firefight, the only reason for this is you cn quickly change from left to right without being entangled in the webbing. Thats about the only thing with single point. If you let go a rifle in Single Point mode, it will swing uncontrollably during normal walk. A good two point is golden. 1% of you guys will use single point as most are not effectively trained to control their weak side anyway.
