    I think it just clicked. I’ve been arming it this whole time. I need to rotate lower body first! Thank you for sharing Josh’s critique. Might’ve just saved me shoulder surgery 10 years from now.

    Setting up the hips like that was something I had not considered. I couldnt figure out why some days my throws felt so much more fluid and easier. It definitely has to do with activation of the hips and just general rotation of my body rather than just strong arming the disc. This was very informative for me, thank you.

    While I'm no pro at dg, I am FH dominant and hold my own thanks to it. I was however a AAA baseball catcher that needed to relearn how to throw, from using forearm muscles to, even in a rush, depending on "long arming" the ball instead of short arming. Basically using your body more. He's right, you don't want tendinitis from using your elbow too much. Haven't seen anyone else really do it, but I (RHFH) kind of cross/X step my right foot way left of my my pointer/left foot while going forward to absolutely make my body rotate rearwards and coil/release for not only extra power but making sure you aren't using your arm too much.

    I think looking at tutorials on baseball swing lower body mechanics and engaging the hips could really help for both forehand and backhand power from a lower body rotational mechanic perspective. There is a ton of material out there focusing on these mechanics that directly correlate to lower body disc golf mechanics that are taught at a high level that are more easily incorporated than anything i have found for discgolf.

    Best nets to buy are the cat-nets that people put on their balconies to keep pets from falling. Cheap AF, durable as all hell and usually large enough to string up pretty much anywhere. Mine is 3x4 meters and cost about $30.

    so much info without being too much... not to push back tech stuff on forehand but got excited that this cat wants to do next level, "qualify for tour card" and doing the work up front... the thing that caught me is the wisdom to be doing non-disc workout... this game, like most competitive sports, has a major attrition attribute - so many rounds in whatever weather, NOT sleeping in normal bed/environment in between rounds, et al... my, I am social level player so my opinion more from three decades of coaching D1 sport and then seeing it in my elder self, best rounds always second round - r1 gets me in disc golf mode, next day hitting lines/putts, next day shows fatigue physically and mentally

    Nice job Anthony, very helpful. I have a lot of off-axis torque. Definitely have a lot more power than spin. When I try to cock my wrist more, I lose a lot of grip. Feels like this disc is slipping right out of my hand. Did you have this issue at all?

    Form question! I noticed a seemingly big difference from the advice given here to the afvice of Ryan Sheldon. Whereas Overthrow recommends a 90 degree angle of the back foot for mobility, Ryan preaches forward facing feet and hip shoulder separation. So the movement is more a core coil/uncoil than hip-based. Any thoughts ? :)

  • @OverthrowDiscGolf

    @OverthrowDiscGolf

    Жыл бұрын

    Both Ryan and I are teaching hip shoulder separation. I also don’t think he is talking about a forward facing back foot during the load. In other words I think we are focusing on different parts of the throw and people think we are talking about the same moment
