The Right Intentions - Khutbah by Nouman Ali Khan
This Khutbah was recorded on August 5th, 2016 at the Bayyinah Mussallah in Euless, TX.
Revisiting the context in which Surat Al-Munafiqun was revealed, Nouman Ali Khan sheds light on the multiple lessons to be deduced from that series of events. This Madani surah was revealed after the morale-boosting pre-emptive attack and victory of the Muslims over Bani Mustalaq, a tribe that had planned to storm Madina following the Muslims’ defeat in Uhud. When the daughter of the tribe's leader, who was taken prisoner along with over 100 others, accepts Islam, Prophet Muhammad marries her and as a gift, releases all the POWs which leads to the entire tribe accepting Islam. Upon their return, when an argument between a member of the Muhajirun and one of the Ansar threatens a bigger conflict between both groups, Prophet Muhammad urges both sides to let the incident pass and refuses to authorize the assassination of Madina’s most notorious hypocrite Abdullah Bin Obai Bin Salul, who seized the opportunity to fuel the fire and sow divisions between the two groups. When the surah was revealed, with all tenderness and care, Prophet Muhammad first recited it to 11-year-old Zeid Ibn Al-Arqam, who had recounted to the Prophet and his companions that Bin Salul had insulted the Muhajirun and helped the Muslims avert an internal conflict.
In its core, Khan sums up, the theme of the softness of the heart binds the whole incident together: letting the prisoners of war go, urging the Muhajirun and Ansar to let the incident pass, dismissing Bin Salul and ignoring his lies, trusting the child and caring for his emotions. Clean intentions and sincerity to Allah are the key take-aways from this story.

I feel so ashamed after hearing what the Ansar (RA) did and the muhajariin. I know that we can do better for the people of Syria, Iraq, and Yemen. May Allah change of fear of losing out on material possessions into fear of Him and Him alone.

the moment when u said there were 2 ayah just dedicated to Zaid and his narration , islam just became more and more beautiful that it already is . and pointing out that softness of the heart has to be delicately handled is so important i almost miss that all the time . Subhan Allah. The thing that struck me the most was the behaviour with children. I still remember how much i had heard about praying in the first row and i used to be very excited to get that opportunity as a child. But i was kicked out of the first row for being a child and it hurted very much. To this day a part of me hurts when an Imam says not to keep children in first row! We expect children to come to Masjid and remain dead silent. Come on man. They will make noise bcoz they are children! But more importantly they are tasting the environment of the Masjid! Its sad how we have forgotten the Sunnah to deal with our children!

We had a murder case in my location recently. The killer and the victim were both Muslims and actually knew eachother. Just because this Brother who was much older slapped the the youngster, the friend of this youngster pulled out the gun and shot this older brother multiply times. When I heard this, I was shocked and angry and so many other emotions that hit me in that moment. We knew the brother, he had a family and kids and basicly died because he hit the pride of these youngsters who were obviously not okay with beeing slapped and guys, it is not because the older Brother did it withouz purpose. No, these youngsters acted disrespectful and disgusting a like thus leading the older Brother shocked. It's sad how people's ego are taking over their brain.

Mind blowing. He's absolutely right because I myself still remember many things i used to listen in my childhood and they just pop up in my mind whenever i hear something related to them and they are very helpful sometimes.

*30 angels rush to write down the reward when you say this during Qiyam of Namaz(Prayer):* ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ Rifa'ah bin Rafi narrates: "We were praying behind the *Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)* one day and when he raised his head from bowing he said: 'Sami Allahu liman hamidah (Allah hears the one who praises Him).' A man behind him said: *'Rabbana wa lakal-hamdu, hamdan kathiran tayyiban mubarakan fih* *رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ* (O our Lord, and to You be praise, much blessed and pure praise.)' When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had finished, he said: "Who is the one who spoke just now?" The man said: 'I did, O Messenger of Allah.' What if u had the clear intention to go to juma prayer on Friday but u miss the speech and ur able to make only the prayer dose that count as u making juma because u clearly intended to make it

yes I saw that video and I think you should look into the autography of the Quran you have to read about it I couldn't find any videos on it but that will help with your question but from what I understand the different recitations (which the tafseer have fully documented) they talk about the added benefit for having the different readings of a particular word at that particular point (in the Quran e.g qatala & qaatala (he killed/he fought) ), we get additional information or details through the different recitation so if anything it will increase the depth to which we can go in terms of understanding and lessons derived via the quran
