I went to Crystal’s viewing party for the finale and when she asked who people wanted to win, it was HEAVILY in favour of Divina - I think a lot of people just didn’t listen to Vivienne’s growth in time for the finale and instead primarily focused on what she was like before with Divina and Cheryl

I think my favorite moment of the season being Cheryl lipsyncing to Cheryl in front of Cheryl is a great example of non rigged storylines that are amazing. This season had a lot of good non rigged moments that other seasons force and it proves UK is just that good.

You forgot that Baga should have been up for elimination in episode 6. She had one of the worst runway looks of the season and just as awful of a commercial. Blu had a really cute look which should have saved her so that was some riggory you missed.

Glad someone is portraying The Vivienne in a positive light. Everyone always says how “Divina was robbed” when the two of them were neck and neck, so it just came down to storytelling and i think The Viv had a better growth arc.

@Shiny Hunter Palette but you could say the same for Viv winning over sum ting wong for the first episode and snatch game was a shared win. Yes Viv was the best in snatch game but Divina was better than Blu and on par with Baga in the girl group challenge. Plus Divina's animosity towards Viv was based on the fact that the Viv had constantly put her down even before they were both on the show for not really any good reason. That's why she got so catty towards Viv at every perceived slight, when someone is constantly coming for you over every little thing you're gonna end up getting really pissed off. It grates on you to have to put up with that. You can't blame the edit for an issue that started before they were even cast on the show either, Vivienne was nasty for no good reason and Divina was justified in being upset and angry about that.

True, Davina already came in as one of the most competitive queens ever, she really did SLLAAYY the season, so what would we be watching the season for if the winner was sssooo obvious, plus The Vivian did just as well and she has the best growth(story line wise)

They paid Cheryl dust every time. Her look was loads more interesting and thought out compared to Baga's. Do I think Baga should have lip synced? No, I think hers looks better than Tayce as well. Should have been low though.

I personally loved this season; however, the water commercial episode infuriated me beyond belief. Baga should have 100% been in the bottom over blu and the only reason she wasn't was because they wanted her show with the Vivienne to be a success. I'm guessing they assumed baga going home (because ain't no way in hell she would have bested cheryl to a cheryl song in front of cheryl) would harm the viewership or something? Whatever blu is an icon and so is baga but the primary colour that creates green when mixed with yellow did not deserve the bottom 2 with that look and ad.

Cheryl should've been; LOW | LOW | LOW | SAFE | HIGH | HIGH | WIN | TOP 3 Going from misunderstood to just missing out on 2 challenge wins, 1 girl group and 1 in front of her idol, to finally winning a badge and leaving the 3 frontrunners to fight for the other spots in the final.

The Vivienne gave me some May Day fashion vibes for the James Bond runway. Bagas look was a reference to Oddjob, so I'd let it slide too, but Vinegars was pretty bad.

As a British queer brown person, I always kinda hated that they had American judges in Ru and Michelle. It felt like aspects of the UK drag culture were missed in the judging especially certain references. It felt to me like you were rewarded for using the most obvious UK reference that Ru might actually get rather than things that reflect UK gay culture especially black and brown UK gay culture.

For me, Scaredy should have been in the Top episode 1, let her show, why she got there and what a promising queen she is.

The Vivienne really came and murdered this season. I don’t think I’ve seen a queen just have the energy and presence of a winner from the jump like the Vivienne did on uk1, maybe raja. Say what you want about divina but in my eyes the Vivienne is the winner of drag race uk.

Baga reads as a "Bond Girl" in a kind of roundabout way. She has a costume like Bond and a hat like Oddjob!

Completely agree, the only thing I disagree it's about the commercial challenge. It's maybe the worst episode of the season, like you said, besides Viv, all the commercials were bad lol. However, we have the runways to break that tie. Divina and Blu had the best runways besides Viv while Baga and Cheryl had the two weakest ones. No only that, but Baga's "much better" was too repetitive already and overused by her. We all know that whoever was against Cheryl would lose the lip sync and Baga was definitely saved from elimination here (not only that, but she even admitted in untucked that she didn't fully know the words).

I love how miss Divina Decampo said she never wore a red wig and dress together before and was literally working it in her promo looks 😂

Before even watching this I just wanna say if production had pushed for a Davina win this season it would have been so good! She had the perfect under dog story line in my eyes and could have been a Jinx Monsoon level kind of win! I really want to see her on a season of All Stars/ International All Stars!

I really Loved Cheryl hole, she was just so loveable just like tia kofi in uks2 +love blue

In my opinion, Scaredy was really set up to fail, even though she could've killed the season had she not been screwed by The Viv. Also, as for episode 4, Divina and BLU had the best runways to me, Crystals really doesnt read as Science...She is just wearing a mouth guard. But still this season was so good so.

Thank you for pointing out that we needed Baga. This season would have been boring if we didn’t have a FOIL or “robbed” moment here and there. That’s the gag and the goop we all want but have a hard time admitting. Also no shade to the S1 queens but the confessionals were not the business. If Baga wasn’t there after EP4 it would have been Viv squiring and Divina sucking air while she laughs at herself. Huge fan of S1 and 2. Weird Krystal is getting kinddddd of a Viv edit.

From this video, I can see that the judging was pretty much 95% accurate throughout the whole season up until maybe the end where it was more about storylines. Season 1 of DRUK was for sure one of the best, and I feel like it’s very much forgotten because it’s “the first season”. Some could say that they put DRUK on the map and then S2 knocked it out of the park 😅😆.

You talking about Cheryl Hole made me remember that other video you made about the cursed 5th place. Even though Cheryl was top 4 on DRUK, she'd fit right in as a victim of the curse. If the season had a bigger cast, I think she'd win the makeover challenge (as she should've) and then be immediately cut the following episode, just like what happened to Miz Cracker. This video made me realize how great of a story season 1 had overall. It's something we can't quite notice at first watch, but once you know what happens and go back, it's all there. Viv has a hell of a winner journey, Divina is a lovely runner-up and Baga ends up as the villain of that top 3. And it was different from the typical Drag Race, because Viv was never the lovable underdog.

Also... Baga barely knew the words for 'Tears Dry On Their Own'. It seemed like the only words she knew were the chorus because every other part of it was sloppy, and she showed no facial expression. Fight me on this but Cheryl won the lipsync for that reason alone.

To be fair Bagga was angry at her mum. Her mum gave her to her grandma to raise as a small boy , married another man and raised his kids in a family unit. I think Bagga’s mum was doing the show to try and make it up to Bagga is some way but the resentment Bagga had towards her mum was just oozing out of her pores and I can’t really blame her. Imagine being a little kid and wondering why your mum doesn’t love you enough to keep you but at the same time seeing that she has kept all her other kids and is raising them. Maybe she was young when she had Bagga but why once you were older and in a stable relationship having other kids wouldn’t you bring them into the fold also. It must have been pretty devastating to a little Bagga. That being said as an adult she should have been more aware of her own behaviour and how it would be perceived on television but I get the impression Bagga has no filter and the anger and bitterness just leaked out of her uncontrollably. I remember thinking what an awful person she was until I saw her talking to Ru and Michelle about it and then I had a bit more insight into why she behaved like she did.

Interesting to hear this retroactive. Having not rewatched the series and going by what I remember my first impression of the season, I remember not liking it due to the major riggory and unfair placement. While I can see what production was going for, I found it too apparent and not fun to watch because how blatant it was. Also by the end, I think most people were rooting for Divina because her steady rise was apparent versus The Vivienne's holier than thou attitude before still overshadowed her more flushed out character. Anyways, I was super sad to see Blu and Cheryl Hole get eliminated because they were my favorites. Also found it unfortunate to see Scaredy get eliminated so early because I was really intrigued by her aesthetic. It was super unique. I wish production would stop doing the tired storyline of "inexperience baby/bedroom queen are not good enough" because there really are some new takes coming from some of them that is worthy of exposure. Just my two cents. (Edit for typo.)

i think Viv being the "drag ambassador" wasn't the sole reason she won, she's an amazing queen and an amazing competitor but she won the drag ambassador for a reason and they mentioned it for a reason! i wish we got more of Scaredy Kat bc she had such unique looks!! the UK seasons seem to have so many great queens
