People tend to forget Trinity and Peppermint's alliance before the Finale. They thought there's no way either of them could win against Shea or Sasha. So they decided if they get a chance to pick their opponent for their lipsyncs they will choose each other so that Shea and Sasha would have to go against each other giving either Peppermint or Trinity a better chance at winning. So that was also a key factor in the downfall of Shea.

I think the issue with this season isn’t that there wasn’t a solo challenge win Sasha was robbed of. It’s the fact that there were so many where it was neck-and-neck between Sasha and someone else, and the producer’s always chose to give it to someone else because they saw them as more winner potential or because it had a better storyline. Sasha could’ve won a lot of other solo challenges over the season, but I think the producers never really gave her one because they never really expected her to do *that* in the finale.

Also (not sure if they discussed this is the video, haven't gotten there yet) but I wonder if Cynthia's ties to Pulse night club played a part in her return as well. It gave producers a very real opportunity to discuss on air a perspective from someone who was literally supposed to be there that night. She basically cheated death twice that year. She was beloved on top of everything.

I honestly was so disappointed in Charlie during that lip sync because this is also the episode where she opened up about living during the AIDS crisis and gets very emotional about burying her friends and having survivors guilt. I empathized with her and I thought she could at least stay another episode, but oh my god when the lip sync happened I was like Cynthia in the background “CHARLIE LET’S GO!”

I think part of the makeover is also getting your makeover partner so comfortable that they actually develop their own drag character a bit, like Wintergreen, or Miss Crumbs.

But the reason why season 7 always stuck out to me is because not only was it incredibly rigged, but the rigging was also SO obvious. It’s like they didn’t even try to hide it. I was literally a child when that season aired and so I still tended to get fooled by reality tv at the time, but during this season even my naive little self noticed that it was rigged as hell. Lol.

Alexis irritated me so much because she could have gone farther but shot herself in the foot. Why would she eliminate Lala after Bing saved by her just to keep Kandy?? Had she eliminated Kandy I bet that Lala would have done that well in the roast and she probably would have been eliminated. honestly whenever i want to show someone drag race i will show them season 9. To me its one of the best traditional seasons in the entire series. the cast is great, the first episode has gaga. some of the most iconic eliminations, no intense distracting drama, the more serious moments like the pulse convo were great and well navigated. the reunion had the hot drama and the finale was satisfying.

9021-HO really is about as good as a drag race acting challenge can be. I regularly forget who actually took the win because Trinity, Shea and Valentina are all such powerhouses. Kudos to Farah too.

I will never get over Wintergreen on All Stars quoting Kennedy Davenport’s crystalized glamazon speech! She is so fking funny without even trying

At first I thought Trinity was gonna be mean, but by the end of the first episode I started loving her and now I'm happy that she blocks ppl when they try messing with her? I recall seeing a comment where some lady thought Trinity was rude for blocking her because SHE said something disrespectful to Trinity? Fans being able to connect with their favorite queens is cool, but when the toxic ones verbally attack the queens, I don't think it's such a good thing?

season 9 is my comfort season and one of my favorites but this video made me realize how objectively amazing it is

As a former competitive cheerleader i must admit that i was quite terrified when i saw the cheer challenge and at the level of performance they were expected to give. No matter how good at splits and tumbles and death drops you are, cheerleading is not just gymnastic and requires a high level of control over entirely different sets of muscles and coordination than what ''ordinary'' stunts do. Had they, as you said, toned it down a bit to a more beginner level - which would've still been amazing - i think they would've been able to perform a lot better and be more into it than what they did. They still delivered, but obviously at a high cost.

People seem to forget the cheerleading consistently has some of, if not the, highest percentages of injuries in any sport. It is incredibly physical and unbelievably dangerous and production seriously expected THAT MUCH out of them while only giving them a few days to practice. It's a wonder no one was left permanently disabled or worse

Before I watch this, I’m hoping there’s a lot of Nina content, because she did a lot better than fans seem to like to remember, and her drag was definitely the most ignored of the season

@@ev1802 yeah, there’s gonna be a collegiate level course on how the queens all dogpiled on Nina as the season went on because her mental health wasn’t as important to them as they were making it seem when they were speaking to her. It was quite literally disgusting to watch them all gang up on her during the season and also at the reunion for essentially being down on herself. There’s such a huge difference between attacking somebody for being constantly negative and attacking somebody for their mental illness which *CLEARLY* prevents them from seeing the positives. Knowing that the reunion was after Shea lost makes it super weird that she would carry on negative energy by attacking a mentally ill sister for as much as she did, also Sasha. I hate how the girls just gave up on her, I know it wasn’t their job to make her feel better but that doesn’t mean y’all have to make her feel WORSE like idc

My season 9 hot take is that the Greedy lip sync is a bit overdramatised in the sense that Valentina would go home anyway if even she came out the womb knowing the lyrics to that song and having recited them to the writers of the song herself. Nina was doing great in that lip sync mask gate or not. Also, as a huge Kesha fan especially at the time of airing, I was bummed a Kesha song was not chosen (C'mon and Your Love Is My Drug are literally begging to be lip sync songs), but I never expected them to actually go through with it at the time. The filming of season 9 must have been less than a year before the first trial for her lawsuit against Dr Luke took place and the FreeKesha hashtag took over social media for a moment. Given that the state of her career was in limbo at the time due to the fact that Dr Luke was blocking Kesha from releasing anything and receiving royalties from the moment the lawsuit was filed in 2014, it would be a punch in the face to have her on the show, while also putting money in the hands of her abuser

I was also introduced to Peppermint back in 2010 because of the Telephone parody way before I knew about the show. 😍🤘🏻

I've always felt this season was so interesting with the sort of anti-social media sentiment felt throughout. The queens with more alternative/tradition, organic styles of drag mangaged to make it far and be rewarded while the social media darlings and glamourous queens were kinda ripped to shreds by the judges. Interesting route to go since they went the complete opposite the very next season imo. Also the idea of casting some of the best queens on Drag Race* and some of the worst queens ON DRAG RACE* in the same season is such a wild ride lmao. Everyone here is iconic for different reasons.

I can’t believe I didn’t think about how 3 of the top 4 have won crowns. I’d love for Peppermint to come back and win. That would be iconic

You say that Aja was edited as spoiled, but idk, so many moments she does something spoiled or comes for someone, and then she's shown to have recognized that she messes up and gets on screen chances to fix the problem and apologize. That's what made me stan her this season tbh.

yayy season 9 is my fave season because the cast is just stellar, along with s6 and s12 cast, everyone is just so likable to me. but also s9 is my fave mainly because sasha is my fave rpdr queen lol. would love to see her on another all winners season but i highly doubt it 🥲

maybe a bit off topic but i'm pretty sure the reason we didn't get a kesha song for the Shea vs Nina lipsync is because of the messy legal thing she had going with Dr. Luke. I don't think she could sell those rights at the time and if she could, it would've gone to Dr. Luke so yeah

Tbh I was worried when Nina opened up she was isolated from the drag community in her hometown. This is because I knew production will used it for the self saboteur storyline.

People who didn’t have LogoTV say this was their first season and it’s a good first VH1 season that really elevated the show but I do miss the simpler times from Logo where we got our fav winners like Jinkx & Bianca This season also has just about one of each challenge in the franchise except for: talent show, girl group, and the fairy tale princess challenge could also be considered the “sewing” challenge but it’s a design. They’re lucky they got this instead of the drag on a dime challenge.

I think your forgetting they was also judged on their sidekick and concept in the princess episode not really as much the outfit they designed. Hence why Valentina was in the top as she had one of the best side kicks and she looked great
