So It’s not just me that thinks this too!?! As a child, the theme tune used to scare me. Didn’t help with those funny looking puppets. Nothing cute and cuddly about them like you’d kinda expect as a child which as a result then I wouldn’t watch the show.
The theme tune was awesome. I loved this show.

The music at 0:13 really misleads viewers into thinking The Riddlers are scary.

Hated this programme as a kid. Scared the life out of me!
I have had this tune in my head for literally YEARS and havent been able to remember what show it was from. I have listened to multiple videos on here totalling a good few hours trying to find out what show the music was from and today, after years of having an unsatisfied earworm, I have found it. Onwards and upwards now at last!
I'm glad I'm not the only one. I thought I was alone in finding the intro tune creepy and unnerving (but still sorta likeable in that regard). For some reason, anytime I am walking a scenic route in the dark, this tune always pops up in my head. Every single time.
I haven't heard this theme tune in over 30 years haha nostalgia attack
The Riddlers is one of my childhood memories!
I always found their puppets so creepy it doesn’t help that as soon as they appear the theme tune turns sinister as fuck
My childhood bossing it 😜👍
I remember as a kid, I used to headbang to the theme tune haha 😄
Interesting that Tiddler would go on to play the role of Kay Burley on Sky News.

I didn't mind the program when I was younger and quite liked the theme tune. I looked back into it when I was a bit older and really liked the sound of it. Listening to it again now, I can hear folk metal elements in the tune itself, which makes me like it even more :D.

@@richardcrook2112 Shortly after making that post I realised that is the song it reminds me of. One of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands!. I can recognise the melody used. There is also a website claiming this, which I find interesting. "There is one exception and that is "The Widdershins Jig", a song that would hint at the folk metal future, Taking a folk chord (apparently purloined from the theme tune of Children's ITV's much missed puppet show "The Riddlers")"

@@Queenmoreta You have amazing taste in music. Funnily enough, Martin Walkyier's previous band Sabbat used the theme tune to kids TV show Inspector Gadget -speeded up for their song Behind the Crooked Cross.
Never really was too fussed on this show, but the intro was pretty memorable, most likely because it had a kinda sinister edge to it

it was composed by neil innes, who was in the bonzo dog doo dah band/collaborated with monty python

There is a big clock in the middle of Telford town centre which used to play that tune or something very similar every hour on the hour and a frog would peddle a type of bike over a tight rope and back while blowing bubbles.......it was pretty creepy......but I always noted the resemblance between the tunes.

0:13 misleads the viewers into thinking that they're scary and sinister.
Bloody hell, haven't heard that in nearly 30 years. It's properly macabre.
The Riddlers is available on DVD.
this brings me and my sister back when we were little
I used to love this show as a kid and the theme tune❤️
I used to watch this just listen to the opening credit, then I'd switch over...
I never understood the logic behind a) making the characters look creepy AF and b) making the theme tune turn very sinister just as they appear. Unless scaring their core audience was the intention? Weird decisions.

Same, I always thought that they were actually evil characters or you couldn't trust them because of this and because they were ugly.
Always found this theme creepy as shit, why did they have it get so sinister half way through ffs

When the theme music turns creepy and sinister at 0:13 it misleads the younger viewers into thinking they are scary characters.
theme song is composed by the late neil innes who also composed the raggy dolls
🤟🏻
With my child on the way. They will be watching what I watched in the 80s and 90s. None of this modern crap. The old ones had great life lessons and didn’t treat children like idiots.
Sprite from the eternals reminded me of these for some reason.

I just did,… bloody hell, it’s this theme played in a minor key! Is that riff a traditional folk melody?

tiddler was voiced by Mike Gallant.
As a kid this to show gave me nightmares every night for years and Hypnagogic hallucinations. It got so bad that I had to see a doctor and they had to prescribe me with medication. When I say this please understand it’s all true and was a very difficult time
