*RNC from Mount - Rickson style* 0:38 Mount and have opponents elbow off the floor, can be done by obviously punching them or making them defend cross collar choke. 0:47 Put your hand behind their elbow, keep your elbow glued to your hip and push their arm a little bit. By keeping elbow glued to the hip you don't use muscle, you can use pressure. 1:52 Put your chest behind their elbow and move your chest towards their face. This will bring their arm completely across their body. Use your weight to pin their arm. 2:07 Grab their wrist with your hand that's furthest away, come underneath their head to grab. 2:19 To turn the opponent Post the foot that is on the grabbed hand side right next to their hip (so that the opponent doesn't trap your foot after you turn them). With your free hand, put it on their elbow and push whilst pulling the grabbed hand. (note you will need to posture up a bit for the turn to be more effective) 2:51 After turning opponent, with your free hand sneak inside the gap of their elbow. Tuck opponent's elbow and arm into their body. This will help when you turn the opponent on their belly as there will be no obstacles in the way. 3:17 Opponent may be curled up here so with your back leg, place the knee further back and drag opponent until their body is straight. 3:41 Once opponent's body is straightened up, place your chest on their shoulder and push them onto their belly by using your back leg with toes on the floor. *back leg pushing is very important*. As you push them, the foot that was posted by their hip will go in for the hook, the other leg will also go in for the hook. (basically both feet will be inside their legs) 4:06 Once your feet are in, open your knees up to apply hip pressure. The hip pressure is what keeps the opponent down. 4:21 To get the hand out from the opponent's elbow: open your hand and keep turning side to side to wiggle it out. 4:53 The choking arm will be the arm that the opponent's head is facing. (e.g. if their head is facing left, choking arm is your left arm) 5:10 To peel the head upwards if the opponent has tucked in their chin: Use your knuckle and scoop it across their eye. Use the thumb side of the wrist, place it on the bridge of their nose and pull their head up. (You avoid biting in doing so and the structure of the wrist against the bridge of their nose guarantees better grip.) 6:04 After the chin is lifted, shoot your other arm in for the choke. Open up your chest for your other arm to snake behind their head (use a knife hand). Having the knife hand behind their head, reduces the chances of opponent being able to grab that hand to try and get free. 6:57 Head down on the back of their head, pinch and hug your elbows together.

I've seen this a couple years ago and even as a white belt, transitioning to technical mount and establishing the gift wrap has been a gamechanger. Since then I bought many of Henry's HJJ courses, highly recommended. It's the type of info you can bring into practice the next BJJ or MMA training right away.

this is a very effective technique that makes the difference between going thru the motion and really applying the technique correctly but yet something that I can apply unlike the super fancy low percentage type fo techniques.

Pinch the elbows together. Been working that choke since Royce started the whole Shebanga. Never new about that. Learned to expeamd the chest. Thought I heard that from Henry. Either way, gives it that little bit of extra pressure.

It's the little variations that make the difference. I was taught to expand the chest then pinch your shoulders together and you can feel the pressure increase with each stage.

0:59 rickson wouldn't have been able to do any of this or get as far as he did in mma in the usa if he had the level if athletes that are in mma today! it's the same reason you don't see the traditional guard in mma anymore. as eddie bravo and joe rogan noted, it's because people kept getting hit, despite the gracies claiming it's safe. How many times have people been busted up by punches and elbows while in someone's 'guard'?!

  • @evanburgess4340

They wouldn't be that level if it wasn't for what Rickson had done. Having said that, I am sure he could, because he would have been able to study what they new and counter their innovations. You're missing the point of what made him good, he adapted his techniques to work against the styles against him. He can't fight what wasn't there, but he'd have worked it out fine.

@@alexneville8168 irrelevant! What they said still stands because it's seen in fights that they watch and in the case of rogan, actually call live as it happens! You asking that is about as stupid as asking 'what credentials in math do i have', just because i said 1+1=2. Truth and fact doesn't need anything to help it!
