You know in Ecuador sport has no much support and cycling isn't something that we practice or a national sport so having a champion is something that surprised me, but the best part of it was that he won at Mount Fuji since I love Japanese culture and dream to visit that country in the future. I love your sentence.

I can only imagine the pride his family, friends and the people from his home town, are now feeling now that he is an Olympic Champion. Such a humble man.

Apart from being one of the best bike riders in the world, he is great human being and a fine example of dedication, hard work and determination!

I wasn't familiar with Richard Carapaz before his Olympic Gold Medal win yesterday, but having only recently starting riding he is an outstanding role model. What a beautiful place to have grown up, a connection to nature is what made him win.

That kid riding next to his hero made this video extra special...I hope Richard’s never say die attitude rubs off to him and makes him a world class rider one day.😉 I wish Richard knew just how much of an inspiration he’s been to me as well down here in South Africa 🇿🇦😉 I also pictured myself riding like him while training to lose weight in 2020 and through him I lost a whopping 21 kg in 9 months of pure torture and never say die spirit that’s made him a great cyclist...Richie Carapas and Nairo Quintana are my two climbing inspirations,both from humble beginnings of South America✌🏿 Thank You INIOS for such a great video of such a great and inspirational cyclist.👍🏿👊🏿✌🏿

He visto grandes vueltas y siempre que veo la combatividad, entrega, compañerismo y humildad de Richard tanto en competencia como fuera de ella digo QUÉ GRAN CAMPEÓN! Gracias Richard, soy mexicano, pero me siento ecuatoriano cuando te veo correr, cuando sufres en carretera y disfruto también tus triunfos como si yo hubiera corrido esa etapa o competencia. I didn't know his humble beginnings, almost from zero, working hard helping his parents, always pays off honoring and respecting our parents!!! Baruch Ha Shem for this wonderful kid of a very successful life, so far, I'm sure there is more to come, my blessings and thoughts are with you and you while family! Aquí un colombiano es tratado como cualquier ecuatoriano siempre y cuando haya respeto mutuo. En Colombia el ecuatoriano es tratado como un ser inferior y que al que hay que invitarlo a la puerta de salida. Eso sí es ser malagradecidos.

Isn't it awesome that he goes home to train and prepare for his next race nearly every chance he gets. When he talks about Ecuador in his interview his face just lights up.

Mexico es mas de otros deportes en ciclismo aunque saquen ciclistas no seran potencia pero bueno en algun tiempo sacaran uno bueno

I feel proud of being Ecuadorian when I see this guy. La Locomotora del Carchi, Richard Carapaz is such an inspiration.

Carapaz has just this infectious enthusiasm and charisma about him that has been missing from grand tour champions. Probably since maybe Cadel Evans. Really excited to see him in the tour this year. I don't think it suits him but I have no doubt that in week 3 he's gonna throw the kitchen sink at the GC on the climbs and if they're not prepared for it, he will be on that podium.

After this video, I'm going to be one of Carapaz fans ❤️
