Richard Burns achieved more in his life than most of us will ever dream. It's a shame that the disease robbed him and we couldn't enjoy more of his journey.

Even when this man couldn't drive the car, he developed one hell of a video game so that others could experience the thrill of the sport. That one game alone got me hooked into motorsports. And I'll never forget that cheer at 5:43. Thank you Richard :'(

@kedar p dirt rally 2.0 has to take that crown nowadays imo, funny how they are both gone but both burns and mcrae are talked about through the games that got thousands of kids interested in rallying

I never saw him rally live (I wasn't even born before 2003), but I play the game with NGP6, and it's just absolutely fantastic! I also remember watching the WRC highlights as a kid and it was unbelievable that he was able to beat McRae! And then I saw his Wikipedia page and found out he died a long time a go :( R.I.P legend, your contribution to rallying will never be forgotten

I can genuinely see the pain in both Reid's and Richard's father's eyes.This is a truly heartwrenching tale, but also the tale of one of the greatest rally drivers!

Proud to be named Richard, like one of my all time heroes that's responsible for my participation in rallysport. Rest in peace.

God rest his soul. One of the kindest faces in the WRC. He will never be forgotten.

Been watching back the era of Makinen, McRae, Burns, Sainz and co. Amazing times in rallying especially the GB final round in 2001. As a McRae fan I was gutted he crashed out and wasn't exactly ecstatic when Burns won. Now I am so glad that Burn did win his Championship. We have lost both McRae and Burn which is just unbelievable. For Burn to pass away exactly 4 years to the day after winning the 2001 Championship was heartbreaking. R.I.P Richard. A true Champion in and out of the car.

Tears in my eyes watching this. Met Burnsie in 1999 before the final stage of the network q rally. I was only 12 but he made time to sign autographs and have pictures taken and had a joke with me and my father. Juha kankkunen pulled up behind and was pretty miserable. Top bloke, would have certainly won more titles

I was there on the RAC in 98, 99 & 2000 for Burn's great wins. Squelched back from Walters Arena in 2001, just in time to catch the BBC show him winning the championship. Legend in my book.

Fantastic tribute to an amazing driver.. met him a few times in wales and was the most humble individual I have ever met with his regard to his sport. Proper fans will never forget.... rip RB and CM...

He left an incredible legacy together with SCI with the game Richard Burns Rally, I still play that game and mods have made the game very up-to-date.

I had around 14 years old but ill never forget him, was one of my favorite drivers and one of the best in Rally Acropolis.

A nice tribute to a great rally driver. I remember watching R.B. on tv , saying something like "Why can't I drive this car?" to Robert Reid. Soon after, he was in hospital. It was sudden, sad, and shocking for me, and I didn't even know him! As a momento, I went and bought Richard Burns Rally for XBox (better on PC?) and got a sense of the complexity of rally driving. Didn't win much money though! Still have the first two copies of Rally Sport from 1999. Burns and Reid inside! R.I.P..

I'm old enough to remember where I was and how I heard about JFK being assassinated. I remember clearly where I was and how I heard about Elvis dying. And I can recall vividly where I was and how I heard the tragic news of the great Richard Burns passing. RIP young man, I admired you greatly.

It was so terribly sad what happened to Richard unfortunately I only started watching WRC in 2004 so didn't get to watch Richard driving apart from old seasons in KZread. You have to wonder how long his brain tumor affected his prior performances as well as his rallies before Spain weren't great and of course a tumour dosent grow overnight. RIP Richard who was a fantastic driver and a great overall package for any team and was good on any surface.

Almost 15yrs since Richard Burns passed, as a fan it still stings our heroes will never be forgotten. There's only two or three people apart from immediate family I still get a little blue thinking about Richard Burns, Greg Moore and Brandon Lee. Keep up the great work and his legacy will live on.

Was watching Hammond enjoying his freshly rebuilt Subaru and with the help of nostalgia ended up here. Had one of these cars the year Richard Won the title so he definitely influenced us fans. People who achieve that level of greatness in their lives will never be forgotten❤️❤️ I didn’t want to watch this video because it’s proper lump in the throat sadness, but I’m glad I did because we so often take life for granted. It is very cool to have all these moments online for eternity, for everyone to cherish. I hope his Wife family and friends found some happiness as time moved forward❤️❤️ What great times these years were, they are our hero’s, living the dream, and we enjoyed watching every second of it with them.

God had a rally car in heaven, He needed the best rally driver to drive it, So he called Richard. RIP Richard Burns!

RBR fans will end up here remembering this man. I know it seems trivial but he lives on in that amazing game kept thriving by a dedicated community who love Rallying and love Richard. His spirit is there with us each time we tear up that dirt (and his voice literally guiding us through the tutorial stages).

Richard Burns was always (and forever will be) my number 1 Idol. A true legend who demonstrated endless bravery to show exactly what he, Robert Reid and their cars could do to take home the Champions trophy! Once I've decided how, I'll be hoping to raise money next year for the RBFoundation.

I really enjoyed this video and found it to be very emotional

I never really knew him or met him, but he left an impression on me with his skilful driving and general attitude and I've never forgotten him. Just like one or two others from that era of Rallying, he is permanently engraved in my memory. I can only imagine how awful it must be to outlive your child.

So sad for Richard's family. It always happens to the good people. RIP to one of the best British Rally drivers Britain as ever had. As you can see many people have never forgotten him and lives on in many people's thoughts
