Thanks for reminding us that it's ok to tear down & rescape our tanks. It's easy to get discouraged when the first try doesn't measure up. As always this was a beautiful build

Haha I made an Aquascape for first time at evening and in the morning it was changed 😂😂😂 And I am going to change again tommorow after a month of its cycling cause I have better plans but only 2 tanks.......🥺

I often called my 5 gallon tank my underwater doll house. I'd get tired of an aquascape and tear everything down and redo the tank. My fish never seemed to mind that I changed things. 🙂🐟🐠

It's the only way to get better. Providing you keep the fish safe, I see no harm in switching things up if you think you can improve or fancy a change.

@@littlemidwestrebornsdolls for a long time I only had a 75gallon. Doing a really involved scape is so expensive because you need so much, it just always ends up being a couple of massive amazon swords & bits from the brush pile. Now that I have several smaller tanks I'm having so much fun. I can do something really interesting for much less money & changing things up isn't such a overwhelming process. I can understand your love for the 5 gallon completely!

I live in Japan and Medaka are very respected and revered here. I’m a very avid medaka enthusiast so I appreciate your representing them here! Breeders here have created very elegant medaka with amazing colors and long fins, some going for $500 a pair!

I really appreciate the lovely end of the videos when we get to fully enjoy these builds for more than a few seconds!! It is truly so soothing to my soul and I wish we could see more!! I wonder if anyone livestreams their fish tanks on KZread? That would be so awesome!! Great job MD! I've always thought rice fish are beautiful!!
love how you always give viewers a few minutes at the end of each video to appreciate your tanks in their full glory with calming music! Nice work, beautiful tank!
Ohh that is gorgeous... Quite different from what you normally make. The stones are beautiful
I can honestly say I’d be lost with out this channel . I find it so relaxing when I’m chilling in bed . Love it
Hey MD, love the vids! All the advice you have given has really helped me out as newbie to the hobby: creating a pea pebble base, the aquasoil in bags, building stands, and don't overthink the scape!! Your hard work in filming and explaining is very much appreciated!
His driveway must be literally gutted the amount of times he takes stones away from it 😂
“Don’t be crippled by indecision, get going” I LOVE that! Please have it quoted on a hoodie with an aqua scape logo. I’d buy it straight away! great channel. love your work man✨

I never realized how beautiful rice fish are. This scape really shows them off! It's such a pleasing scape, I could watch it for hours!
You should start another channel that just high lights specific tanks each day with calming music. It could be very therapeutic!😁

I have said it before and i will say it again....this is just about THE best aquascaping channel there is ☺ !!! MD's simple and yet effective style of presentation is just awesome
I’ve been watching on and off for years. You have come so far. You’re an inspiration for begginers, a leader for veterans and all around talented scaper. Respect. I always keep your strategies in mind when scaping.
Really hope to see an update on this tank in 3 to 6 months! 💙😮 So beautiful
The color scheme of this scape really compliments these fish in an amazing way. Love your eye for these things and appreciate you sharing.
Medaka are my favorite fish! Thank you so much for showing yours off!

Love the rescaping. Always look forward to the new scapes you produce. Gives me new ideas for my own tanks. Can't get enough of that part of the channel. Thanks again.
I like that you showed the aquarium fully setup and running at the end longer! Gave me a couple extra minutes to appreciate it thank you!
This is exactly the inspiration I needed. I was thinking ricefish and river, lo and behold my lord MD came upon me.
I love the way your "temporary" rice fish tank looks like my idea of perfection. If i could manage something as amazing as that, I'd be a happy bloke!
Always love these videos. The mesh bag idea has been a life changer for me. So much easier and neater in the tank. A little tip for those looking to save a few dollars, instead of using Aquasoil, get a bag of organic potting soil and use that. Make sure to mix it with some water before putting it into the bags to create a "muck" if you will. Also make sure it's organic so that no chemicals are hurting your fish. I've had amazing results with it. Cheers, and keep the videos coming!!

The soil stays in the mesh bag? I've used potting soil before but I sifted it and it was very fine. What do you use?
@nelaina
2 жыл бұрын
I think with that method, which is a take on the Walstad method, you really need to make sure that soil is capped heavy and tight, and I would recommend pouring boiling water in it first and letting it dry out. Then using a very small amount. Way less than what could fill a inch worth of that bag. (Ex: 10 gal tank maybe 1-2 tablespoon max. If you're going to have fish and plants, it's very important because you don't want that soil leeching into the water. Not to mention, organic or not, it will have critters that may not work out in your ecosystem.

Like MD says, this is not advice for anyone looking to put an aquascape in a show or anything like that. It's advice for someone that wants an affordable, functional, nice looking low tech fish tank.
I like the vision you have! So many times through that build I was a bit sceptical, but once it was all done and the fish in I loved it!! 👌🏻
You always remind us how consistent and courageous we should be and learn from making mistakes. as I am a big fan of pet fish keeping from my childhood I learned a lot from you now I am keener to apply them to my tank back in the home.
I'm using this setup as inspiration for my second 55 gallon that I set up earlier this week, I have a bunch of river stones as the substrate but was stumped on what to do for hardscape... more (and bigger) river stones it is! I love how this came out, it's so beautiful!
I enjoy the balance between aquascaping and natural look! That’s a beautiful naturestyled tank and I like the medakas.😊
I used to do scapes for my fish tank some years back, when the only videos on youtube were of aquascapers who made unsustainable (but very beautiful) fish tanks. To do the scapes you do, you have to be a real artist. Kudos man.
the moss looks awesome in the ricefish tank.
Really gave me an idea for my 20 gallon..thanks buddy willing to see some more in near future
Awesome job! This is the exact kind of look and style I want to do with my tank. Now I got a great reference to use.
The one life changing thing I learnt from this video is the soil mesh bag. I had always wanted something like this without realising it could be done this way. Thank you MD from India.
Perfect ending with some footage of the tank and the music 👌
Great color setup. The stones and the rice fish matches. Well done. 👍
Awesome scape. Rice fish have become my new favorite. Mine are in a lily tub, not an aquarium. I have no room for more aquariums. Lol. I will have them outside in container ponds in the summer. Galaxies are my favorite so far. I have a mixed lot of rice fish babies, too. So cute. I look forward to more rice fish on your channel. Very under appreciated fish in the hobby. Keep up the great work!
Those ricefish seem to glow! Wow. Once the tannins release a bit they will shine ever brighter. Nice setup, MD. Take care.
I love this setup! Probably my favorite, so far. Well done!
13:10 love all those Kribensis in the background
23:58 I dont know why, but that snail looks like it tells the best stories.
Wow that is an absolutely beautiful set up and I really enjoyed watching you build it. Inspirational! 🙂

Hey MD, you have really changed my interest in the aquarium hobby...ive went from african cichlids (still have them) to being addicted to low tec aqua scape...im 3 tanks in in the past few months. What im wondering is what type of recording equipment you use and what editing software? I'm finding this hobby rather expensive lol and am looking at trying to support my addiction or at least supplement it with a KZread channel. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi jonathan. Thanks for becoming a member to help further support the channel. So recording equipment I use now is very expensive, but obviously I have built up to that. I currently use a Canon R6 with RF 15-35mm F/2.8 L IS USM Lens (the lens is worth as much as the camera. I also use the RODE videomic pro+ which isn't too expensive but again not cheap. The thing is, all you really need to get started is a modern camera phone. I got to 120k subs with my samsung s9. The new phones are even better. I edit with Lightworks but there are lots to use and something like premier pro has more tutorials and online help.
One of my favourite scapes you have done 🙌 so natural.
Love, love your settings. They look so natural.
Matt has to be a standard appearence in your videos. I love his energy and I get so happy whenever he's in the video 🤩
Nice scape and cool little fish. They seem to swim throughout the entire water column.
Has to be my new favourite tank although I seem to love every tank that you build/scape. Love the simplicity of this tank 😍
Stoked about a ricefish rack! I love my ricefish. Looking forward to seeing what varieties you get.
Imagine waking up every morning and doing this kind of work for your job that's amazing
Ahhhhh so very relaxing to see this set up. Love, love, LOVE the eater sprite! Such a pretty & sorta under appreciated plant. This is hands down my favorite set up to date! (Until your next build lol)
Water sprite makes a stunning floater, changes shape and long roots hang down into the tank
I love a nice cobble tank, so do hillstream loaches 😉 would be perfect temperate bottom dweller
Stunning and creative as always MD🐟🍀🐠🐌🌿
Finally! I have 6 platinum rice fishes and they’re breeding and I’m trying to get inspiration for a new tank and man, perfect timing!
Absolutely love this scape and I am really enjoying your content, keep up the great work. You make me want more tanks
That ending music was everything!
You outdo yourself every time! Great work 🙌
Awesome video this rice fish tank looks so realistic great work md
I love their blue eyes! And I need to get myself some alder cones they look amazing in your tanks
I love this tank so much. It really reminds me of the beach. I actually have a similar one that I had created for my goldfish.
The botanics with the rocks looks great. 👍
Nice work! You really made something different this time and it's looking great. LOVE the end where you show the tank with the fish for a couple minutes. Would like to see that in every video :D
One of my favorite builds and I’ve been watching your channel for a long time.
Best aquascape and fish channel out there.
So peaceful.. thanks for sharing
Look at how well rested Matt looks. Muahahahaha. Came here to rewatch from the new short. Mission accomplished?!
One of my favorites, such a beautiful job. 👌🧡💛❤️
Was thinking of making something like this but wasn’t sure how. This video was perfect and gorgeous. Definitely doing this set up.
MD I wasn't sure how it would turn out but once again you've pulled it off. I love how naturally the leaves have fallen... excellent tip for those who want that effect in their tank set up. I'm looking forward to more rice fish videos as I am unfamiliar with this fish in the hobby. Apparently they are very well respected and developed in Japan so you appear to be representing them well here. I hope they attract more attention as I don't know how available they are around the UK or if they are here in the USA. Thanks again for another enjoyable build.
Fantastic! Reminds me of riding my horse at the river where I grew up! Thanks!
i dont know what you did different.... but the music was bangin on this one. great job.
This guy's seems the really love his job. His he the manager? Id buy fish there just because of him.. respect matt!!
The aquasecape is really cool
Hell yeah, I've been looking froward to this ever since youn said you wanted to do ricefish! I actually gasped out loud when I saw this video hahaah
You could say that this tank really.. rocks!
I’m not gonna plant too much, wait I’m just kidding gonna plant this mother out. Your builds are always so amazing.

Fantastic! Very realistic and natural. The use of so many rounded pebbles looks just like rivers near me in Ohio, US.
I absolutely love it. It's what I would love to set up my next tank to look like. I want to make a betta community tank..
This is beautiful.
Love your videos. Thank u 🙏🏽
Great tank !!!
Great video! Pack of Hillstream Loches would love it here!!!...you might even get a spawn!
The fish store guy with the beard, looks like he has a side quest for you 😂
You encouraged me to actually scape decently in a new style
That’s a big tank ! An even bigger dude !!
All the way from the USA east coast thanks for helping my insomnia lol
