I like the idea that whatever you're doing is essentially practice. It seems to be about repeating something (irrespective of whether it is conscious or inadvertent) to the point that it becomes second nature. This something can be a musical concept (pocket, voice leading etc) or responding to musical stimuli. But the bigger problem seems to be about reducing the gap between what we do and what we want to do. That's a problem in all facets of life. The bigger our worlds the better our music.

There are three things that are inter linked 1. Instinct 2.Talent 3.Practice . We do our daily activities right from birth as instinct. It usually doesn't need practice as such. We just do it. But, where instincts might require some practice is where is happens a break in that flow. For example after an accident , we might need physiotherapy. For Alzheimer's patients, there are a certain set of things they need to practice as a part of the therapy. So on and so forth. Now, when it comes to learning, art, games or whatever else all it might be, no matter whether someone had instincts or talents or both too....in order to maintain & sharpen it practice is necessary. No matter how much instincts & talents one might possess & is feeling confident about it , it might not always be made to come into play or tapped fully without practice. What distinguishes a great musician like A.R.Rahman ( or anyone else in that case) is how he has put all his knowledge, skills, experiences in music,re-recording & in practice. Sādhanā - regular practice is the key. It helps bettering once's instincts and talent. And the more one gets better with it, it , in turn helps practice. Earlier , if one used to practice 10hours, with bettering / polishing / nourishing both instincts & talents ,that person might now need only 3hours of practice. And its is practice what establishes a connection between the person & his working tools. If a cricket player like Sachin has to change his bat in the middle of a game it would take some time for him to get used with it & bring in his instincts and talent because of the lack of practice with that particular bat.Same would go true for musicians or anyone else.If a musician is playing his instrument ,he would feel at home where as he has to play one that is in the studio,it might take a while. If we are driving our bike or car, we would feel at home. But riding a friend's bike or car, its not the same. in all these cases , our instinct and talents are the same and everything runs in our brain & memory. But with practice one major thing happens which is " Muscle Memory". Isn't it true that until a musician too develops that muscle memory he might still have to look at his instruments , hand positions or thing like that while playing no matter how good are his instincts or how talented he is ? But as soon as one attains that muscle memory he can get totally immersed in playing an instrument, cricket, driving or whatever else & that becomes his instinct. And when something thus becomes an instinct , all your creative juices , talent could flow much effortlessly. That is how instinct , talent & practice are interconnected & why practice is very important plays a major role. By the way ... i love this channel & almost all the musical contents published so far.All the best to the entire team for all the future projects ❤🙏
