Hi chaps. Thank you for the videos. Thinking of what you said, Anders, about people purchases and marketing, I’ve never seen anyone consider/review supermarket own brands side by side before. An idea for future episodes perhaps?

Hi Andy, own brands are a biggie and we have discussed doing something like this. A World Cup of own brands perhaps. Stay tuned.

When you refer to Tetley, is that the product marketed stateside as Tetley British Blend?

The Tetley British Blend is a more premium blend of the Tetley we talk about. Not widely available in the UK.

Neither are good quality black teas like a loose leaf Assam, Kenya leaf grade, Ceylon or a good Earl Gray in terms of black tea. They are the dust end of the spectrum. Recently we bought tips but have loose leaf Kenya black and earl gray and occasionally lapsing souchong for rare times I may like it. But we keep bags on reserve and used to do so with Tetleys but recently got PG tips at Wal Mart. of the two economy teas PG tips is better and somewhat more flavourful and smooth and I was tempted to make another one. Tetley is crap tea and tastes of cardboard boxes or oatmeal with milk in retrospect. So PG tips is not high end but better than Tetleys if I had to comment. It’s my opinion but I tried to do a curious taste test from all sides

Of course these teas are not as good as quality loose leaf tea. We will get round to some loose leaf reviews at some point. No idea if Tetley and PG are different in the UK market to else where, but here in the UK these are the two top selling teas, which does not say much, more a nod to good marketing.

@@punktea8142 actually I was maybe wrong and harsh I was maybe half asleep when writing. I did make a Tetleys today and it was surprisingly better than the last Tetley I had for an odd reason. Still I know they are not going to stock quality loose teas in McDonalds or Tim Hortons or most office kitchens so it’s good to cover them anyway

Never thought I'd care enough, but .....I used to like tetley, not anymore Yorkshire and pg for me. Tetley is weaker, not as much flavour as pg, and nowhere near the flavour as Yorkshire. If u like it strong, go for a Yorkshire if you're not that fussed or don't like the strong flavour tetleys are fine for that.

Tetley's great, as long as you don't have to get up and do a math problem on the blackboard if you know what I mean. 😉🦴
