In most states you can be tried as an adult at 13... you can change your gender and get ur sex organs removed but you cant use your sex organs?! My husband of 20 yrs and i started dating when i was 16 and he was 20 and i was more mature and responsible than he was lol not every relationship is equal. Just because one 20 yr old took advantage of a 17 yr old doesnt mean every 20 yr old will... its a case by case basis.

Let me get this straight…she was a 17 year old teenager when this 24 year old grown man went after her. Then she was the breadwinner, while he lived off of her, and he got her pregnant by the age of 18. She had three kids still supporting this groomer before she was 25. He was living off of a teenager. How have more people not called him out???

If I remember correctly, her dad is a photographer. He took pictures of her in a bikini when she was underage, crawling on the sand and stuff. They were posted and shared online. He also took pictures of girls I knew in high school, while they were underage. I don’t know anything about her mom but her dad seems a little off.

@@AyshaLovesYou I makes me sad, the way parents are can really influence how someone is. When they are an adult, though, they are responsible for overcoming that. This story seems to show the difficulties a child can have with parents who make bad decisions and/or are horrible and then grow up and don't overcome that. She could have true happiness without all the social media and the decisions she made. I hope she can find happiness.

Yeah, it's interesting that her neglect of animals- which is terrible, and a crime, don't get me wrong- is what is mostly talked about when it comes to Acacia, when this is a disturbing case of an adult man preying on a minor teen girl when he is 24 and living off her income, who she she escaped to live with in order to get away from her father- a worse creep. I understand things like this were ignored at the time, but... it still is a bit upsetting that people seem to bring up everything else while brushing by with only the lightest mention (if anything) about the child molesters in this woman's life. Is she kind of a terrible person? Sure. It's a lot more understandable though, with the knowledge of the creeps who manipulated her in mind.

I had to mature a lot to reach the same opinion. I used to not be able to see the nurture vs nature side of how you evolve into an adult until I became an actual almost 30 year old adult. I think this type of viewpoint is important to see things through instead of the usual “good or bad” only. This situation was more nuanced than I thought as a teen-YA when I would just troll Acacia online. A lot of people struggling to open their paths of thinking this way

The amount of hate people had and still have for little girls is insane. If they can’t be sexualized, they have no value, and if they can be, they’re shamed for it. Acacia has done some horrible things, but the amount of hate she got as a child for existing as a hurt child on the internet is crazy

This commenter is just trying to bring attention to the fact that the people on tumblr/other social medias weren't squeaky clean either, and they did some awful shit to a literal child who was being groomed by adult men.

If no adult ever stepped in to tell a 17 year old the issues with a 24 year old boyfriend.......no adult was definitely going to step in on the pet issue.

Anybody of the opinion that a six year old child can make decisions about gender re-assignment surgery for theirself is in no position to judge and tell a 17-year-old who they can and can’t sleep with. I don't know if people realize how horrific it is to leave pets without food for four days. The Art of Racing in the Rain shows how horrific it is when pets are neglected without their most basic needs of food and water. Acacia and Jairus could afford all kinds of expensive clothing and trip to Manhattan. They could afford a pet sitter or boarding.

Hell, most hotels are pet friendly these days! I worked for one where we even had special beds for dogs we would put in your room before check in. The bed went by the window, so poochie could sit and look at everything, with a little bag with treats and stuff. Just to help get everyone settled. When I had a dog I just didn't travel. Period. Shortly after he died my neighbor's cat decided she wanted to live with me (long story), so now that I have another pet I still don't travel. Being disabled at this point I can't even if I wanted to, so it works well now.

People are understandably quick to call out the conditions of shelters and feel bad for animals in there but at least their basic needs (food, water) are being met. I cannot imagine not feeding my cat, honestly the amount of times I haven’t eaten until late at night because the only money I have goes on cat food, milk and litter. My pet will always come first 🥺

The line between fitspo and pro-ana was so thin. Also I just looked at my Google Photos and I saved an image in 2014 that said "1 heart = 1 day without sweets" which ig is sorta okay but letting online hearts determine your eating habits isn't good

Somehow I didn't have her in my feed, but I was there for all the Felice Fawn scandals, so I understand. It's a similar thing. She got criticized for glamorizing her ED and exploiting her animals for her modeling. Also part of the "club" of Tumblr Vegans, but idk if she is still vegan. She also kind of reminds me of the proto-Belle Delphine but had a goth/witchy aesthetic instead of a cutesy anime/fairy/gamer girl aesthetic.

Regarding faking self harm: It doesn't matter if you bleed or if your skin is just a little irritated, if you cut, scratch, whatever. The severity of the self harm doesn't determine your worth or how much you deserve help, nor does it make the fact someone self harmed any less true. It's not a competition for the deepest cut. It's about being unable to cope with your emotions towards yourself, and it can come in many forms. No one gets to invalidate your pain, even if you don't have stereotypical cuts. A little TW for.. self harm, obviously, but this is a personal story: I vividly remember scratching my arms and rubbing over the skin with a washcloth that had very scratchy fabric, back in middle school. I told my friends this and they made fun of me for it, because a washcloth? That's not self harm! And guess what. It was. Because the intention was to harm myself, to irritate the skin and hurt it. If the intention is to harm yourself, it is self harm. Period.

this is very on point. when i started getting tattooed, i kind of enjoyed the pain, and kept going back for more. but, i had someone i knew in a similar situation that got tattooed for similar reasons, and i realised that what i was doing was harming myself. since my last tattoo i’ve been trying to practice a more healthy mindset when going to get more ink. it’s honestly hard to do, i won’t lie. i have to remember i’m there for pretty tattoos that me and my artist have drawn up, not pain.

Exactly this! I think a lot of people also don’t realise/understand that self harm also doesn’t have to be physical. But of course, if they can’t see it or it isn’t what they consider « bad enough » it’s not real and doesn’t matter and doesn’t deserve to be treated or take seriously. If you’re doing anything with the intention of causing yourself some kind of harm, it’s a problem!

this healed my inner child a bit. when i was in middle school i also struggled with self harm and ideations, and my friends would show picture of their self harm scars to each other and basically compare how deep the cuts were and if they didn't bleed profusely, its not self harm. now that ive grown a bit, ive come to realize that self harm come in many forms, banging your head, self isolation, EDs, and etc. and i mention these specifically because these are the forms self harm has taken in my life. i brushed them off in the past but have come to realize how severe they really are, and that they *are* a form of self harm. anyways i hope youre doing much better and healing as i am trying to

I definitely feel this, I didn't really cut. I did however smash objects against my head, scratch parts of my body till it bled, burned myself, etc. There are lots of ways people self harm, and all of them are horrible and deserve to be validated.

Honestly, I think Acacia’s problem is that she tries to short cut her way through everything she does, which probably leads to immense imposter syndrome creating a feedback loop of trying to be something fictitious via the short cuts

From individuals I have been acquainted with who were children who had a (pr3d)father but they themselves *were not* the target of any of “that”- they are nearly always dealing with neglect, emotional, psych, and mainly maladaptive in how and where they seek approval or connection or valued. When there’s a *lack* of contact with the pr3dator and the other parent is unfit/unable to course correct development then often there’s a deep betrayal that the f’ed up pr3dator parent spent so much time and energy “””loving””” others and not the biological child- and these individuals *understand* the logical fallacy of their maladaptive undertones (they have always been therapized by the time I discuss with them).

I’m sure it’s not for all predatory parents but I also had friends in high school who wished they at least got a fraction of the attention the abuse parent was giving to other kids and/or they felt bad for their friends that got hurt because essentially the parent used their child as bait to get other kids in the home. It is so scary that a couple who couldn't care for pets and rehomed all of them after only a month went on to have three children in rapid succession. You can't give away your children, guys! At least not easily!

Honestly, I feel bad for her. Does that mean I'm justifying her wrong actions? Absolutely not. You can still have empathy for people who have done wrong. She has been through so much and I can't imagine all her trauma. Imagine your life at 15 years old being broadcast to the entire world…YIKES.

i personally think it's a mix... people have very valid reasons to not like her and call her out on her behaviour, but there are also some things that I found that she gets hate for, for no reason. I think misogyny comes into play when we see how she is treated compared to other people, she's held to a higher standard while her male counterparts don't face the same repercussions. So it's sometimes it's justified, sometimes its not.

I didn't realize she JUST turned her mid-20s. I forget how young she was when she was going through everything. She's definitely a blueprint of how your digital footprint can always follow you. What happened to her sounds like a nightmare. I cringed at all her mistakes and actions. Can't imagine being pushed into the spotlight and no one really helping her. I'm genuinely looking for her redemption arc as I was a tumblr girly when she was popular there. Hoping she heals.

Reminds me of a classmate of mine I was hanging out with. We were 15 years old back then when she started to date a 22 year old guy. As an aroace I had zero understanding about romance and physical attraction, but it was still very creepy to watch. But she was so convinced that it made her much cooler by dating a legally adult that she didn't listen to my concerns. It's shocking how easy teens fall for older folks because they see it as a validation of their own maturity

Not disabled but I became the scapegoat of my family by being a drug addict. Continued being the scapegoat long after getting sober. So I know how it feels and I’m so sorry you went through that through no fault of you own whatsoever. I was a dumb ass so I kind of brought it on myself but I can’t imagine how much worse it feels to be blamed for all the problems in your family when all you did was be disabled. When I was 12, I ran an acacia hate Instagram account with my friend & we were in a pretty decent sized niche community. She interacted with my account when I posted “”””proof””” that she faked self harm. She seemed really hurt. I deleted my account shortly after & now that I’m turning 21 this year I think about it occasionally & i feel awful. Nobody deserves to go thru the amount of bullying she got & she didn’t even rly do anything except exist as a young dumb person like we all were at one point.

I think of this every time I see some clearly young person online just saying the most horrid stuff about some small time creator they hate (sometimes about people with like 1000 followers but that makes them "influential" in their small sphere so that makes it ok to send nightmarish comments/content) I often wonder if they'll feel bad in a week or a month or 5 years, and at what point they'll simply forget and rewrite the memory of their behavior in their own mind so they aren't the "bad guy". I'm glad to see one person that recognized they were putting out nothing good, changed/stopped, and still remembers. Dumb kids in a mob of hundreds+ can do quite a lot of damage

I also hated on her terribly in my teen years for nudes and faking self harm. When I grew up and realized how stupid that was it also made me think most the claims that came after that were a reach/not irredeemable

I’ll say this about the Rosemary disability situation, Acacia was really in a damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don’t situation. If she decides to keep Rosemary’s medical situation private because it’s a legitimately private thing, even for a family blogger, people will act like they suddenly have a right to know what’s going on, because “hey, you posted everything else”. And if Acacia DID decide to document every intimate medical detail of Rosemary’s condition, those same people would be roasting her for posting private medical information online and violating their baby’s privacy. Acacia consensually filming a lot of her life does not imply consent for EVERY DETAIL of their lives to be public record. No means no, even if there were a thousand yes’s prior.

Now that you mention that I had an upbringing till about 5 or 6 where my mom would constantly get pets and get rid of them regularly and the rest of my childhood with lifetimes with pets. And people will just drop them off at any shelter even if it's a high kill one. It takes maybe 5 minutes to find a no-kill shelter near you so I that if people have to surrender their pet that they take the time to do it right.

That “unnatural” dachshund is actually considered a double dapple. They are unethical to breed as both parents must carry the Merle gene. The Merle gene is associated with defects to a dog’s auditory and visual systems. So, a double dapple is highly likely to suffer from some issue with its eyes, ears, or both. The issue may be mild but it can also be so severe that it shortens the animal’s life and destroys the quality of it. :(

I have a Siamese that we rescued from a hoarding situation a few years ago. When we got her we thought she just had a broken part of her jaw from eating birds and having to survive. We Had 6 teeth removed initially but eventually had to see a dental specialist to get all of her teeth extracted because of stomatitis. This is not a condition that cats can easily hide. It’s extremely painful and honestly broke my heart having to watch my poor cat scream and throw up food because she was trying to shove it all in and avoid her teeth that were so inflamed. We thankfully had the means to get her mouth taken care of all within 6 months of having her. To ignore this condition is cruel and unforgivable.

i just replied to another comment about my cat, but he recently passed from multiple heart problems. once i found out about his condition, i did absolutely everything in my power to keep him healthy and happy. i mean it when i say i would’ve given him my own heart if i could’ve… the thought of rehoming a pet when they need you the most just makes me sick and if i were acacia, i would not be sleeping well at night 💔

The recent event where she left her kids alone in a park to go take photos of herself playing her switch in the woods really ads new light to her supposed motivation of keeping her kids safe and prioritized.

This poor girl.. where were the adults? She is 17 and he was 24? What??? Her entire life has been crazy and heartbreaking from the beginning. She never learned or had a role model, in my opinion, hopefully she will finally get her act together.

But there is one part where she is judging Acacia for not publicly sharing medical information of her child... Just because she posts everything else doesn't mean she has to post about her childs disabilities. I have ADHD, depression and BPD, I once had a mental breakdown at mass, full on crying and hyperventilating because of the sensory overstimulation and my mom just outright told everyone that I was just mentally ill, like she's not wrong but the random old church lady doesn't need to know that??? If later on Rosie finds that she does want to be public about her medical history, that is her choice, but Madison judging Acacia for not posting about her disabled baby as a NEW MOTHER is pretty worrying...

Totally agree with you. I won't tell you how old i am (😂) but I grew up without the Internet and the change in society I've witnessed over the past 30 years with it has been bone-chilling. It was sold as this amazing thing that would open up worldy knowledge and improve everyone's life. All it did was create predators, narcissists, social anxiety, isolation, online trends that lead to death, and generations of kids unable to face real-world reality. I've a 9 year old, and I'm constantly encouraging him to get out on his bike and play with his friends so he doesn't disappear down the rancid, black hole of the Internet

It's not harsh at all. I was a kid on the Internet before social media (yes I'm very old) and the change in the vibe of the net after social media shocked me. Suddenly people went from being kinda cool to angry, depressed, and lashing out at everyone and everything. I was in my mid 20s when Facebook went public and very quickly mainstream, so I was able to disengage a little easier and much earlier than the kids who came up with it in their lives. I think 13 is way too young to allow kids to have their own profile. Listen, they'll lie about their age, I know I did when I wanted to go into spaces I shouldn't have been in. But we have to at least try to keep kids off these platforms until they're 18 and slightly more mature. Middle school kids should be living in the real world, they should have their drama contained to school where, once they leave, it'll be quickly forgotten. Having all that preserved and blasted out to anyone who wants to find it is hurting them. Badly.

something just occurred to me- i wonder if acacia asked “which 6 presets?” because she stole the rest of the presets from other ppl and genuinely didn’t know which presets were hers. i would not put it past her. also i love how acacia made the ig story and made it seem like she came forward out of the goodness of her heart to make it right. instead of ashley having to basically make her come clean- which she didn’t even really do. she still won’t admit that she actually stole the presets. the manipulation and excuses were gross.

Based on the fact it ended up being 13 that were stolen, it seems more like she asked "which 6" so she could determine which ones she could sneakily keep as she hadn't been caught out for all of them yet.

Nude kitties require A LOT of specialized care. They have to be bathed and have their teeth brushed regularly because they don’t have fur like regular cats. I have done tons of research into them because I want one myself and they require a lot of care. They definitely aren’t “low maintenance” like most people think of cats. I had no idea who she was before this video, and I could honestly careless about her, but it’s shitty what she did to her animals.

I'm surprised that so many people focus and what SHE has done wrong yet no one calls out her dad's which is obsessed with taking photos of teens in sexual ways, and his ex boyfriend, who encourage her to live with him as soon as she turned 18, maker HER support him and herself economically even tho he was a grown ass man of 24 and she was barely 18. The soon after they have children and marry, all while she was barely 19-20. Like, I'm 19 and I cannot fantom marring and having 3 kids while also been economically independent. He's just such a groomer and it seems like yet again, women problems are put under the rug because everything else is more important than women......

I feel like this was very well put. Did she eventually do some stuff that was inexcusable? Sure, but that doesn’t excuse what adults did to her as a teenager, and how she was manipulated and groomed. Even though she’s done some awful things, I can’t help it. I actually feel really bad for her, and genuinely wonder how much of this stuff could’ve been avoided if she had supportive attentive adults in her childhood.

It's not that simple. A person who was raised anti-racist may do something racist later on even if they knew better. We are all capable of doing things we regret. I'm ashamed to say that there were 3 times in college where I sang with the N word even though I knew better. I acknowledged it and decided to never do it again. as someone with a few disabilities it breaks my heart to know that that little girl is gonna watch these videos one day and feel bad about who she is bc of her mother’s behaviors

i’ve watched acacia since the tumblr days. i’ve always thought it was so sad what she was so publicly going through. i also thought it was so so strange she dated a 25 year old at 17.

She had to grow up so quickly and it clearly affected her so negatively. I hope she can find some place of happiness that isn’t online.

I have 3 cats. 2 from a previous relationship and one rescue. I work my ass off and the first thing when I get my paycheck is cat food, litter and put away money for the vet if I need to. First thing. I always get extra so at the end of the month they still have what they need. When my cat, Hades, got sick, I was lucky to have a bonus from work that I spent on his medical bill. It was very expensive, extremely stressfull, and demanding. I can't imagine getting a pet and not taking responsability and rehousing them left and right (repeatedly, as she did with multiple of them because she didn't take in account their needs). It hurt me so much when he was sick thinking that If I didn't have the money, he would have to suffer because of my lack of prioritising and responsibility. Totally unacceptable from her side. No excuse.

I've also never heard of her but I got a cat at 17 when I left home. I had nothing but I never, ever skimped when it came to my cat. She had more stuff than I did, definitely ate better - she was my no 1 all her life. Youth is no excuse nor is fame. I knew an actress called Mischa Barton. Famous young, was her familys breadwinner- all that but she loved her dogs with all her heart. I understand why people are angry about this. Pets give us their best they deserve no less!

You asked how we feel about buying puppies from puppy mills... TLDR: It's complicated My first thought was that it's bad and giving them money is like egging them on. My dog is from a puppy mill. I didn't go there to buy, I went to see what Pomskys ("forever puppy" from 2012 pinterest) were actually like irl before deciding whether I would like to proceed with a reputable breeder who lived far away. While I was there, a puppy jumped over the fence of his enclosure and ran up to me. He was jumping on me so I picked him up and he was just so perfect. He chose me. I didn't know what breed he was or even whether he was female or male; I chose him as an individual after he chose me. He's 11 now and I still feel guilty for supporting a puppy mill. I found out a few months later that shop tends to put down dogs when they get to be 3mo/o, and my baby was days away from 3mo. He's so perfect that I can't imagine him not getting picked by then, but idk how he wasn't picked for so long. That gives me a bit of comfort for my guilt? But what's worth sharing is what the vet told me... That dogs from puppy mills deserve loving homes too. They put down dogs when they get too old, and those dogs are already alive to potentially get too old. The vet said the only humane option is to change legislation surrounding them because trying to capitalism them out of business would mean causing the "ending" of dogs that are already here. If/when I decide to expand my family, I won't go to a shop like that again, but I'm glad I have my baby, and the vet has a point. I don't have an answer for how I feel because I have strong feelings on all sides

I was the only caretaker of my late cat, Willie, starting at the age of 14 from when I got her as a kitten until she died at 17 (and I was 31). I would have done everything for that cat and I took my care for her very seriously. As much as I wanted more animals, Willie was meant to be an only cat so she was my own animal for many years. If someone actually values and loves animals, they wouldn't be constantly adopting and rehoming them, regardless of their age. Now at the age of 36, I have 5 animals who are all very loved and I often prioritize their well being over anything else, because animals are not disposable.

Thanks for keeping it compassionate, I have a 13 year old daughter who's watching and absorbing all of this. I can't imagine of all my dumb mistakes and personas from my teens were out there to be criticized. People do grow up and change. Agreed. As someone even older than you, I am also very grateful that I didn't have this added pressure that could exponentially complicate the most confusing time of anyone's life. I can't help but notice how much worse behaviour from "influencers" is practically ignored today while even a hint of the kind of ridicule and hyper-criticism she was subjected to as a child is completely intolerable today, even against adults.

It annoys me when people say that these types of influencers ADOPT their pets. I can tell you with certainty that these pets were bought, not adopted. It’s not easy to adopt an animal, there are all sorts of checks you have to go through, and these serial pet owners are not those kind of of people who would go through the lengthy process of adoption. I also doubt any decent rescue would let them adopt. EDIT: you literally said she got a dog from a puppy mill, that’s NOT adopting, that’s shopping and buying 😭

She appears to have spent her childhood getting groomed by adult men. It looks like she didn't have anyone to protect her. Of course she's going to end up a hot mess. The posts speculating she hates her child are fucking gross and people should be ashamed of themselves. Those snark subreddits, especially about a single target, turn into really dark places and an absolute circlejerk.

Funny to see how stealing photo presets was what ended up making her leave social media; not her abuse of animals, not her alleged abuse of her children.... presets...

the only way i see this making sense, is that maybe it was due to the comparison of the reactions to the more severe "scandals" (I hate using that word in this context tbh, feels diminishing.) when people are losing their shit because of child or animal abuse, that's understandable. i think she found it easy to handle the large scale reaction, bc it fit the severity of the topic, and it's easier to detach from it in a way. "people are just upset bc they think a kid is in danger, lots of parents go through criticism! its fine!" But when people lose it over PRESETS, and are JUST as hateful over something that is still bad but comparatively less serious, that would be harder to accept/digest. at that point you think, "people must just hate ME, because this isnt that serious!!" (it IS, but her mind is contextualizing it against the other allegations). I think the presets were the moment she realized she's never escaping that digital footprint, no matter how she rebrands, and she's essentially on an Internet Good Behavior Bond at best, if not totally cancelled.

WOW I never realized how young Acacia was when they got married and started a family 😐😐 really hoping she’s got a solid support system behind her now

I’m a huge dog nerd. There are basically three sectors to breeding. Puppy mills, backyard breeders, and ethical breeders. Puppy mills will pump out countless dogs without the care of the dogs in mind typically only producing for looks and money. Backyard breeders a step above puppy mills but often aren’t much better. Backyard breeders typically breed for only money as well but not as such a large scale. Ethical breeders are breeders who breed well bred dogs who have long lineage, health testing, are proven (either by working or going to dog shows and being deemed to fit the standard of the breed). Ethical breeders typically don’t make profit off their dogs and the small amount of profit they get goes right back into their dogs. They breed dogs as a hobby the biggest red flag to a breeder is if their full time job is breeding dogs. Ethical breeders breed to preserve dog breeds to aim to make a new one that fills a purpose! 9/10 any sort of mix breed is not ethically bred! If u have any questions pls ask!

As someone who has spent more times in the hospital than out, I can confirm that hospital do not release kids or adults weeks and weeks after they're perfectly healed. It would be amazing if health care worked that way here, but it doesn't. They will keep you at the hospital until you're stable and then send you home to care for yourself or by a parent or guardian with follow up out patient care. They absolutely do not keep you there to heal until you're safely able to do back flips and cart wheels.

Completely off topic, but Madison is so autumnal purdy in this video, and has put a lot of thought into her hair, make-up and outfit and making the colours complementary; and for some reason it's making the artsy part of my brain go 🥰

This girl honestly had an immeasurable effect on the internet when it came to her influence on selfie culture and thinking about it from that kind of art history/anthropology perspective gave me a whole new appreciation for her and other similar creators. This was more than just my childhood, this was enculturation in real time...

I always appreciate how much empathy you approach these stories with. I feel like a lot of people hold those with fame to a higher standard, but their still just people and their lives are complicated and messy and full of nuance. I think a lot of people forget that you can try to really understand where someone was coming from without necessarily excusing any of their bad choices.

2 months after I adopted my cat his back legs went totally lame. I spent so much money and got no answers and no real solutions. I devoted myself to my cat and did whatever I could to keep him happy. He's 3yrs old now and gets around on his own. He is the happiest most loving cat I've ever had. When I adopted him I made an agreement to take care of him for life not just when it's convenient for me. Makes me question how she treats her children when they're inconvenient for her lifestyle.

I’ve followed Ash Levi for years. She’s a talented artist whose worked her ass off. Compared to acacia who another commenter brought up likes to take shortcuts. I’ve only ever heard of Acacia through her controversies. There are many things I can say about the case of Acacia. She was very young when she first introduced herself online to the world. She was very young when she became a mother and entered marriage. Her upbringing with a predatory parent. But she’s an adult now. She needs to be responsible for her actions. Past and present. What she needs is therapy and maturity not an online presence

I found Acacia right after Brinley was born (despite having been on tumblr since 2012 I had no idea who she was) and it's been really interesting to watch a lot of this stuff happen in real time. I remember being really confused about the accusations of abuse towards Rosemary, it only ever seemed to me like Acacia was doing the best she could while maybe not being the most prepared to have a disabled child, and it definitely seemed like she didn't know how to talk about Rosie's medical issues or how much information she wanted to share online. I wouldn't be surprised if Rosie's birth was the start of Acacia really realizing how awful it can be to document every moment of your life online. Learning more about her life and the lack of guidance from adults plus the abuse she's endured (both documented and speculated) is really heartbreaking, I didn't know about most of that when I was actively engaging in her content. It's SHOCKING to me that Jairus was that much older than her and nobody fucking batted an eye. I don't know. I think she's done some terrible things, and I think she's far from perfect. I just hope as she comes back to socials she really treads carefully and maybe thinks things through a little more than she used to. I am glad to see that she isn't posting about her kids at all. I think that alone is a huge step forward.

A young girl out of control with possible trauma in her childhood making poor decisions in her adult life as well? I'm not gasping in shock. But I wouldn't be surprised if those people who would've wanted her gone from the internet were the ones digging information about her when she decided to step away from it. That to me is truly wild.

I'm only 20 minutes in and I have to say it's wild and horrible to look back at people tearing apart a child for her nudes being leaked and for adult men taking advantage of her. Like I am pretty sure that would be considered CP and getting involved with a minor which are crimes. The fact that her inappropriate photos of her as a kid blew up tells you all you need to know about a big part of her audience. Grossssss.

For me this is the first video of you that I've ever watched, and I want to tell you that nobody covered the topic surrounding Acacia this well nuanced, detailed and objective as you just did. I really adore how you spoke of her story respectfully, not supporting but neither judging her in the way many others do. My highest respect fo you, thank you for this. Her background story, the psychological aspect of her age and the effect of the early fame have never been mentioned sufficiently before. She has to be held accountable for the things she did wrong, but shouldn't be hated for the things she did or said when she wasn't capable to comprehend when she was still a minor. Very well made :)

I love the way you put these together and that you acknowledge nuance without ignoring accountability.

The Black kids who experienced racism at the hands of those kids suffering wasn’t less severe because they were children. Even though they were a child, she hurt other children.

I feel pretty bad for her. She sounded like she never had the opportunity to learn who she is since she was too busy trying to be what the world wanted her to be. The same people who demand accountability tend to be the same people who evade their own demons.

I'm by no means a dog breeder, however I am a licensed veterinarian so can hopefully shed a bit of light on the "unnatural" dog colouring situation. Merle colouring is naturally occurring in specific dog breeds (or mixes of these breeds), and is considered an incomplete-dominant gene. The genetics are a bit more complicated but I'll summarise for clarity. A typical Merle coloured dog will have the genotype (Mm), whereby 'M' is a copy of the Merle gene from a Merle parent, and 'm' is a copy of the non-merle gene from a non-merle parent. This in itself doesn't cause any particualr issues, however if a dog inherits two copies of the Merle gene (MM)- they are extremely likely to have hearing and vision defects (potentially both deaf and blind). There are other health defects involving the heart and skeleton that are potentially linked to (MM) dogs, however the research is not yet certain. This means that breeders must be careful that a Merle dog (Mm) is ONLY bred to non-merle partners (mm) to prevent (MM) puppies from being born. If two Merle (Mm) dogs are bred, statistically 25% of their puppies will be double Merle (MM) with the associated health issues. This sounds reasonably simple to avoid, however the Merle pattern is highly varied and it's appearance is altered by other genes, so some (Mm) dogs may not distinctly appear Merle in colour (sometimes known as being a phantom or cryptic Merle). Backyard breeders may either not know the risks of breeding two Merle dogs together, or may not have performed the correct genetic testing to know whether their dogs are potentially phantom Merles, resulting in problematic (MM) puppies. As a side note: The dog breeds carrying the Merle gene are very specific (for example Aussie Shepherds, border collies and Beucerons among others). Dogs that are NOT one of these breeds that are Merle coloured are NOT purebred- there has been a mix somewhere in their lineage that has added the Merle gene. This is happening in many, many breeds lately (French bulldogs and pugs are some of the most common I see), and is not a practice that is supported by responsible, ethical breeders. Registration papers and pedigrees can be fraudulent, if your dog is not a naturally Merle breed, it is genetically impossible that they are 100% purebred (this doesn't mean they are not 100% good Bois or girls). Sorry for the essay, hope this clears it up a bit for anyone who was curious ❤️🐶

i totally agree! she could’ve continued being a successful influencer whether she posted her children or not, and clearly she shouldn’t have. i genuinely hope she’s grown and learned from everything so that she can “mom up” for her little ones

If I had adopted a black child an my other white child posted the n word online, I would have explained to her why it was wrong and made her post a public apology then and there. The parents really failed their children imo

This video upset me deeply. A former colleague of my roommate bought a purebreed Pomeranian from a puppy mill. The dog ended up getting much bigger than she expected and had severe behavioral issues due to her being abandoned for days on end. They also never potty trained her properly as a puppy. When my roommate and I ended up taking the dog in, we weren't prepared for the amount of issues and concerning behavior the dog would have. Thankfully, she has now settled in wonderfully with us, and I firmly believe she was meant for us. What was very upsetting, though, is that only a month after giving the dog to us, they bought another white Pomeranian from the same puppy mill. They even gave the dog the exact same name given to the dog they gave away. It's so heartbreaking to watch someone view these living and breathing creatures as a 'trend', but if they don't behave attractively, they are just discarded and replaced.

I had a roommate in college who got a little 8 week old puppy. She didn't take care of it, would leave it without food for 2-3 days, didn't train or walk her. I would come home between classes to walk her. I bought her food and started training her. She and I were best buddies. One day, the puppy got out...."got out...ran away." Long story short, my boyfriend and I raised the most amazing, loving, and well-behaved dog. We could walk her off-leash and she loved everyone ❤

As a pom mom this makes me so sad. I got my pom from a puppy mill which I thought was a reputable breeder (don’t worry, I learned that I should always adopt and never buy animals, I feel horrible about it..) and he had so many issues. I had to bring him back to full health since he had worms, ear mites, fleas, and was abused. I called and texted the people I bought him from and let them have it. I reported them as well, and they blocked my number. Of course. I’m glad I have him with me now and he’s my absolute best friend. I just can’t fathom abandoning your pet because they have issues or aren’t “what you thought they would be”. My Pomeranians are my family. 🙁

I have a throwback pom who I adopted from a situation like this! She is my other half, my best friend, my familiar! I had “friends” who had dogs they neglected before I adopted my girl and I cannot fathom a dog getting mistreated. They depend on you and love you no matter what, you should love taking care of them!

I just want to say that I have zero doubt that you are going to have millions of subs. I’ve been a silent viewer for a while and your videos captivate me from start to finish every time. I can see the time and effort that you put into these.

In regards to being young and adopting pets; I've known some people like this and I just don't understand it, age doesn't really matter because I've seen it when they were young and again in their late 20's early 30's. I was 18 when I did some volunteering at a vet clinic and ended up adopting an older kitten, he will be 14 at the end of this year. At 19 I ended up with an abandoned kitten and then a few months later I bought a husky puppy who lived until he tragically passed when he was 5. The kitten will be 13 this year and I've since gotten another dog that will turn 5 or 6 (what even is time?). I love my babies and while I don't brush them all individually every single day of their life; I do absolutely love them and lavish on them every single day. Getting pets to fit an "aesthetic" is disgusting, they are precious lives that only know to love.

RIGHT?? So many ups and downs. So much time as an influencer, growing up in the public eye. It’s fascinating.

Madison, this may be one of your best videos yet! Thank you for taking such a nuanced stance with an open ended conclusion of sorts. IMO, at the end of the day, Acacia experienced trauma at the very least from growing up online. Every mistake has been documented, as you noted. It's not an excuse for her behavior to me to ask: what would that be like to have to take public accountability in front of millions of people every time I made a mistake? Especially in my teens and twenties... it makes a ton of sense that she has a hard time taking accountability unless basically forced to. Especially when she has been bullied on and offline for essentially her entire life. As far as her return to the internet... I honestly don't know what else anyone expects of her. This has been her only job, ever. I wonder how many other folks out there have ever tried to get a "normal" job after having an online career for years? I have, and it's HARD. What she is 'qualified' for on paper in the more traditional job market would absolutely not pay enough to support her family/lifestyle. Maybe in time we'll see her go to school and/or train for a career change, which it seems would be healthier and happier for her. But for now, I think this is all she knows how to do. I am a couple years older than her, missed her Tumblr reign for the most part and haven't ever followed her closely. I don't condone much/most of her past discrepancies. But I can't help but feel bad for her. I feel like we would all look like shitty people if we had the documented timeline she has of such a pivotal time in life.

When I was like 15 (born a month before Acacia) in 2013/14, I was going to a church youth group night in LA area and someone brought acacia… it was so weird to me bc I knew who she was from the nude pics scandal but I was also too afraid to even approach her and tell her I knew of her. Turns out during this time she was on her “church phase” lol so random of an experience

I’m halfway through this video and I nearly started crying when they said at first Rosie had TOF. I was born with TOF (in the late 80s so medicine was not nearly as advanced as it is now). And thank God my parents never treated me like a sick kid. They gave me a non-sensationalist understanding of my condition, made going to the cardiologist a daddy daughter date day (we’d go somewhere for a treat afterwards), and never told me I couldn’t do anything because of my heart condition. So I did dance, theater, and gymnastics with gusto. I’ve had two open heart surgeries and will most likely need to have another eventually but because of such a matter-of-fact way of approaching the diagnosis, I’m not super scared about it. Although Rosie didn’t end up having TOF, it breaks my heart (no pun intended) that parents could alienate a child for (really anything) but especially something they can’t control!! But I speculate, because Acacia has been such a public figure for so long, anything that doesn’t meet the standards that garnered her success, must be hidden. It’s a shame. It’s a crying shame.

I agree with you, I didn’t have TOF. But I was born with a heart defect, two holes in my heart and have been lucky that I only needed one open heart surgery (born in ‘93 myself). The way parents approach birth defects have a massive impact. I had several other birth defects as well which probably should have killed me, but my parents were through with getting me taken care of to the point I despise being called ‘the miracle baby’

I'm grateful I grew up just before social media became so ubiquitous. It must feel terrible to come of age in an era of permanent performance. I wouldn't wish that on any kid

Oof, yeah. I feel this. All the cringy bullshit from when I was a kid is in printed photos shoved in the back of a closet somewhere in my house. Gotta love the 80's and 90's and having to do extra steps to get photos, which gave you time to think if you wanted anyone to see them or not. I think we need to have conversations with our kids about taking a beat before hitting "Post". I know social media is specifically designed to stop that part of your brain from functioning, but we need to help kids build up a resistance to the manipulation. It sucks they have to live in a world where capitalism has commodified literally every single aspect of human life. These kids are being strip mined to basically get money out of them, and it's all so obfuscated that you don't see the machinery behind the veil. Their childhood is being extracted, calculated, and added to a huge pile of data points on them...just to then weaponize that data to see them shit they don't need. Something's going to break soon, and it's not going to be pretty. Green Z in particular seems especially pissed over all this.

In high school.. my best friend was her best friend. She was as a little c*nt in HS not going to lie.. but then again she was young and didn’t deserve to be bullied.

I actually adopted a headgehog (I did tons of research) at 14 (I’m 23 now) and it was barely a few months that I had to rehome it because it just was something I couldn’t handle. I still feel guilty about it today. Idk how did acacia manage to keep adopting and rehoming her pets 😞

I watched this entire vid not knowing who Acacia Kersey is. The irony!- literally thousands making money judgjng her every move. She could certainly write a memoir that would be a very interesting chronical of these crazy and, frankly, terrifying, times. These internet judge-bullies are scary. I felt bad for her. Your details are incredible- good work!

I'm eternally grateful for the endless patience it takes to put together these explainers. I started with no frame of reference, I have no time for pop culture, you're my trusted porthole into these deep dives, and they do indeed mesmerize and fascinate. You occupy an area of my brain that desires to be kept informed, it wants to be charmed and soothed and pacified, with nothing too-too serious, yet it still wants to feel relevant! All while I have to do other work. You thread an amazingly rich endorphin releasing needle as it cross stitches its tale across my noggin..

You’re my favourite KZreadr. Your voice is so calming. You’re logical about situations. I also admire you for not putting your child all over the internet. I see my grandkids on Facebook & have mentioned it to my son that they should wait till both my granddaughter & grandson say they don’t mind. My husband scrolls Facebook before bed. My sister is so famous for broadcasting her entire life. I get updates from my husband on what’s being posted. He’s always loved the fact I don’t advertise our lives all over social media. I said I don’t need validation for the meal I ordered or pictures of passed relatives like my brother did for the father he disliked to get sympathy from people on the internet. Don’t get me wrong I have posted vacations that my husband & I have taken. Nothing that shows bragging. Just some us time. The most I may post is my eyelash business. Even then I don’t go over the top with it. Not laziness just don’t want to post my customers that may be older & don’t want their faces on my Instagram.

It's crazy how many times I've seen pictures of hers through the years without knowing who she was or even recognizing that the pictures were of the same person lol
