I had to hear Santa Dog. It gets stuck in my head sometimes, especially the creepy-good background Santa, Santa vocals!

Smoked with the band daily in the eighties dang I miss those days and those talented men pure genius

I believe it was sent back with a stamp that says 'Refused'. Frank Zappa had received a copy as well, but that was sent back because he was moved at the time,

I have had this album together with Meet the Residents on one cassette tape. I must admit that THESE Residents I like the most. Same with Mothers of Invention or Captain Beefheart. Older the better. Kind of...

My favourite mothers album is freak out (their first). My favourite residents album is their first but favourite Beefheart album is trout mask replica (just above safe as milk and lick my decals off)

The punk scene did enjoy the Residents’ cover of Satisfaction, but besides that, this band isn’t affiliated with punk at all. They are an Art-Pop band. They frequently make eerie covers of popular/Pop songs, like Boots by Nancy and the aforementioned Satisfaction, and albums like Duck Stab are just otherworldly Pop albums.

He does sound like Bryan Ferry a bit, and the surfy pop-rock collage aspect is there, but it's much weirder and less "pop" than most of what Roxy were doing, even early on.

@@pongnose Snakefinger met them in 1970 actually. He appeared on at least 2 of their earliest live performances in '71 and '72 (they also did a show at his wedding) and one of their demos in '71. He, however does not appear on this release. That much is true.
