The Reppringer ain't great. Worst printed gun I've used.

Saw someone print one of these in a Facebook group, so decided to try it myself. I sure wish I hadn't.
Also, I can't monetize these kinds of videos anyways, so heck it, jumping on the TikTok memes bandwagon with copyrighted music.

    It's extremely cool to see some testing on the reprringer! A lot of the FOSSCAD era designs have very little information about them online (other than what's in the readmes), so it's really cool to see someone trying one out and documenting it!

    The Harlot 22 doesn’t look much different than this reppringer but seems to function way better. I wonder why that is. I believe they were using 22LR in it as well.

    I think it might be down to the striker system rather than a hammer. They were able to make the striker, (heavier and moving faster than the Reppringer hammer) impart more momentum, so more reliable ignition. The hinges are also a decent bit beefier, though the barrel isn't that much larger as far as OD.

    Think you'll try to salvage it with some aluminum stock or sheet steel? Since it's flat layers, it could be an easy thing to try. That reverse trigger is pretty jank, though.

  • @Pilotgeek

    @Pilotgeek

    2 жыл бұрын

    I think a sheet metal version would be entirely possible and a lot safer, but I don't think it's worth it for the trigger design. Maybe a reworked version or something.

    Would be a fun out of the box challenge. Like, using the same basic lockup without it being the backstrap that actuates it. Either a rack and pinion or like a pull rope. It's the sort of thing that's so low stakes, you can do whatever.

    Oh man those casings come outta your maverick beautifully. I built one and I always have to take out the cylinder to punch out the cases. Is it just a matter of smoothness? What grit of sandpaper did you take it down to?

  • @Pilotgeek

    @Pilotgeek

    I think I went from 150 to around 600. Using a drill bit to chamber often results in an imperfect case, and one of the big things is making sure there's no deep spots or grooves in the chamber, as the case will expand and lock itself into it. It can help to progressively sand more towards the mouth of the chamber to taper it outwards a bit, but don't overdo it.

    Wow, that design definitely looks a lot more refined. I'm still a bit concerned at the thickness of the plastic, I'd probably mod the design to add just a millimeter or two to the frame between the hinge and the breechblock.
