When you click on the zoning tool it will show the ideal roads which can be used for that particular zone. When you click single home and if the road is red where you want to place, that means it’s not suitable for that. This helps reduce the rent issues😊😊
21:33 My grandma had a railroad in her back yard, years ago, It wasn't so bad, you got used to the noise after a while. Plus, I really liked trains, so it was cool regardless.
i love how realistic your road connections are pitch perfect 👌and zone low rent housing to over come high rent issues raised by citizens.
Timeister and SanctumGamer have the best ongoing city build rn 🔥

You should build an industrial area by Auborn.
I could watch you build interchanges all night, man. Wonderful stuff!
Something I've seen other CS:2 players doing, is to zone patches of 2x2 or 2x3 low density residential, to force smaller lots. I think the theory is that smaller lots, is less land, cheaper "rent" per home. Similarly with low density commercial, seems a 2x2 or 2x3 lot will bring in smaller outlets (like burger bars!). Worth a try maybe? Just because you can zone big, doesn't mean you must.
To stop low rent you can also zone smaller lots. I saw this from Biffa
I saw with some assets, if you put the walking path a bit into the asset then slowly pull back there's a sweet spot where it can connect. Good stuff!
I miss that guy. "The Rent is too Damn high!!!"
the way this guy build these spaghetti roads is WAY beyond me😂 amazing work mate❤
Land Value which can increase over time is a big factor. That and #ofLiveableProperties / lot size aka #of Cells. So keep lots small and land low to keep rent low.
The area between Bixton and Auburn could be home of a few low rent social housing projects. Good connectivity mixed with low rent high density would seem like something cool to see

I put all my low rent slums under overpasses for maximum misery and realism
I love the way you can see where a rail corridor is by the way it cuts through the other infrastructure. Very realistic.
14:49 that is very savage, just being in your own home and the mayor replaces your house with low rent housing
i think if u add sights to the city, the hotel value will increase
Great video! I love the long format please!
This game looks fresh.
I haven’t figured out how to build low rent housing, it always abandons.
Love the longer vids!! Loving the series
I don't know if someone gave you this tip, but you can control how much a house rent will cost by controlling the size of the building built. If you zone a 2x2 home or don't use all available blocks, less expensive buildings, homes and apartments will be built. They won't be as good looking or as big as their neighbors home, but they can make a big difference. So you technically don't want to paint all the squares if you are trying to have people move in with low rent buildings.
Loving this series so much!
don't neglect your postal service. Of course the sorting facility is broken for now, but the post office and mail boxes work and make for happy citizens. A few post offices here and there are good, but you want to be ready to spam mailboxes on the streets-you'll be surprised how many you might need to lay down by the amount of red roads you'll see when you select the mailbox tool, but yeah.
I think the problem with rents is that you are doing too good at the moment. Every place in Bixton is a nice place to live in with lots of services all around and thats going to make the rents high everywhere. What if you built a low income area with just the basic services and low rent apartments for people who don't want their land value to go too high? Lol thats how they handle it in real Tampere at least
To the best of my understanding, two of the determining factors for the price of rent is lot size (which I believe you mentioned) and land value. I have had good results remediating the "rent is to high" issue by controlling the lot size, since the game optimizes for the largest lots available if you let it do it, usually selecting 4 and 6 cell lots, and not placing a lot of multi-tenant buildings around single-family residents, since medium and high residential building increase land value.
Nice Jimmy mcmillen reference in the beginning
Love this city m always looking forward to new episodes
I don't know when the metro stations and train stations will be in, but ideally, I would put high density housing, commercial, offices and low rent housing immediately next to the stations. Plus feeder bus routes running in the area.
Have you checked the unemployment? I noticed that when clicking on the houses that had the high rent symbol, the household income was stated as "wretched". Maybe you haven't enough Jobs, and the people dont have a Jobs. Then it doesnt matter of you build more houses. It even can become worse because more people will live in the city and the unemployment rises.
The first house you place down I noticed
I think it's time to expand
45 minute videos are perfect. One question? How do you go to street view or person mode? Keep up the great videos. Just started playing city skylines 2.
At 11:00, I would have sunken the road and had the railroad bridging over as it was already sitting on top of a hill. It would be cleaner that way and you wouldn't need to deal with the big elevation change when connecting the roads. Just a thought, cool build as always lad, keep it up.
Just keep on putting out whatever lets you put out the most content. Trust us, we'll be watching.
If you add low rent more downtown it will make your skyline look more realistic and tiered instead of just a one story house and then a skyscraper
when you said you were playing Toronto simulator that hurt my wallet a little lmao
You can zone down the low density lot sizes and that will help with high rent complaints. I just replace anybody who is complaining about high rent with a smaller lot size.
Also a tip to incoporate would be upgrading a lot more of your ploppable building and really maximizing your existing networks. It saves you the most money!
Love long format videos..
u need a low income area your just putting it any where and everywhere
22:17 plane jumpscare
No the painter's mansion should be on the island near branfort
I enjoy the 30-40 min episodes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey @timeister have you thought about adding visual mods like Extended Tooltips which shows you the actual rent cost per household?? Super helpful!
I would like to see what u could do to Washington DC build ❤
Maybe welfare office will help with the high rent??? Not sure really just spit balling. Love hearing your from T.O. and yes rent is out of control in this city its crazy
Do more tourism
I like you. I think ill stick around
rent issues you cant come without beacuse sometimes only a child living alone rent a house and they cant work neither can the seniors so you need to have more whealfare centers to cut it down only... i know it is pretty stupid that a child can live alone but it is just a game afterall a simulator but still a game
Oh sorry, I mean bedford
Long videos!
you need to upzone your single family homes if the rent is too high.
Evicting people (and their neighbours) because they cant afford rent just to build an big apartment complex in the same space & putting a elementory school right next to the trainline... dont they have ethics classes where you live? ;)
I think you should have a prison now your jail is full.
You may also want to see what kind of jobs, if any, the people who are complaining of high rent have. Are you lacking in available jobs for any of the educational levels?
14 episodes but 99% of the time you build roads and roads only, where's the other necessary buildings?
