The RELEASE in GOLF! // Eliminate SLICES the EASY way!
In this video I discuss HOW to RELEASE the golf club! The vast majority of golfers tie their arms to their body and make the mistake of SPINNING their body for more speed! Excessive BODY motion early in the transition is the reason 85% of golfers SLICE and struggle for distance!
Go through the STEPS in the video and you’ll lesrn HOW TO RELEASE a golf club correctly! It’s super SIMPLE stuff! I’m confident it will help you make BETTER BALL CONTACT and hit STRAIGHTER golf shots!
I hope you enjoy the video!

I friggn love you dude. You are so right about the methods you teach us, and your delivery is not in a lecturing, pedantic tone as many others are. I look forward to your videos and the results are real and encouraging! Keep them coming!

I agree with what you’re doing. I’m 70, and used to be a spinner with my body, now I call that a “sinner”. Keeping the shoulders closed alleviates so many problems… Over the top, slices, pull hooks, fat and thin shots…

Great video Andrew. Just now getting back into golf and working on your approach to re-learn my golf swing. I tried so hard to "fire" my hips for many years but made it impossible for me to hit a draw. As a right-hander, I always struggled with pushes to the right and at least one club loss in distance with irons. Also, I had a sore lower back after every round. Thanks again coach!

Coach A, I have enjoyed and learned alot since I became a subscriber to your channel. I have put into practice many of the drills that you have shown. Since my open heart surgery of about a year ago, I have been working on refining "my swing". We have a PGA teaching pro at one of the courses that I play that holds Saturday morning teaching sessions for the cost of range balls. That pro told me I have a nice swing and that I need to work on making clean contact. I also had another pro tell me that he would not advise anyone to take lessons unless they commit to practicing. So, I took both of those two pieces of advice and have purchased a season pass to my local courses practice range. My goal is to hit 75-80 balls five to six times a week. I am going to sprinkle in lessons to make sure I am not engraining bad habits. The teaching pro has viewed your videos and his approach to a good swing is very close to your -philosophy. The other nice benefit about the season pass for the range is that it has the Top Tracer system. I am presently working on being able to video my swing so that I can have you give me feedback with your online lesson. Going to turn 71 in a few days and feel tremendous by walking a round of 9 and 18 holes every week. No issues with the heart. Plus cardiologist (who is golfer) said that walking the course is the best exercise for me. Now, I just need to get my swing refined to make the game more enjoyable for me. I would appreciate any feedback on my practice strategy for the next 5 months {golf season is hit and miss in Minnesota after October 15th}. Again, Andrew much appreciative of the excellent videos Cheers!

Thanks for your patience an persistence in this Andrew (multiple videos on this), It is really totally alien to me. Its also very logical and clearly explained, and I'm convinced its the way to go. I think the main difficulty is my brain is grappling to fit it into my old swing and somewhere along the path it wont fit (especially that twist). I need to identify the conflict and throw something out first (or change a key part), which is proving very difficult . Great video as always. Thanks. Schaun

Schaun, allow your body to move and respond - just don’t jump all over the ball! That where almost everyone goes wrong. It’s really a timing (sequence) issue that I’m trying to address as opposed to a body v hands and arms swing! Best, Coach A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
Great video,I noticed you chocked down on club quite a bit is that something we should do, I have a tendency to be at very end of club of my clubs

As long as the butt end of the club isn’t in your palm like so many golfers you don’t have to choke down. Key is getting the club more across the fingers! Best, A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻

Hi Andrew; I just finished watching this video & must thank you for such a clear, concise & easy to follow example of the most important part of the physical part of the swing. I did notice that you didn't include the release of the angle of the wrists thru impact which is what really gives me problems. I usually mis-time it & hit it fat much too often. I don't normally have a problem with squaring the face when I don't hit it fat. I'm not hanging back which causes a fat shot but I still hit it fat. You obviously can't see my swing so I know it's impossible to diagnose but if you could advise me on releasing the wrist angle, it would be such a great help. Thanks!

Thanks Mike! To your point I’m a ship without a rudder without seeing your swing. It could be caused by a poor set up. A swing that’s too steep, or too flat! A transition spin which throws the club out. Excessive lateral motion with the pelvis and on and on! What I can see is that focusing 100% of the time on brushing the grass ahead of the ball can only help! Most golfers aren’t trying to do that when they’re in the middle of the fairway on an approach shot! I would say that most golfers are also obsessed with hitting down in the ball when hitting g the side of the ball and sweeping it would work very well. Maybe a change of concept would do the trick! Sorry I can’t be more helpful. You know how to reach me if you would like a lesson. Best, Coach A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
Great video. I’m straight pulling a lot of my shots. What’s the most common reason for this ? Is it shoulders opening to soon or hand path out to in ? Or both. Thanks so much
@AndrewEmeryGolf
26 күн бұрын
It’s usually both but lack of hip and shoulder depth at the top is usually a big contributor to pulls! Your arms need a pocket!! Try hitting balls with your trail foot back off a tee!! Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻

Every club in the bag needs to be released. But when it comes to the lofted clubs it’s a little more nuanced. Especially around the greens! Best, Coach A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
Andrew, I tried to follow your instructions precisely. I did the hitchhiker drill, the two club drill, the orange whip. I thought I was ready. Couldn't hit any iron over 100 yards. The best L to L distance I got was 90 yards.

Jeff, you need to find a local pro and take a lesson mate! I’m like a ship without a rudder without looking at your swing. Could be grip? Ball position? Posture? Path? Release pattern? Videos are meant as a guide to help but they aren’t as good as in person! Sorry I can’t be more helpful but that would be my no nonsense advice for you! Best! Coach A. 🙏🏻🏌️♂️⛳️

Squaring the clubface is crucial for every golfer, regardless of their swing style. It's about aligning the clubface squarely with the target to achieve accurate and consistent shots. Best, Coach A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
Scottie Scheffler's club face is square for about 16" thru impact. His misses are slight and seldom.
@AndrewEmeryGolf

That’s true scheffler has a very supported release! But there’s nothing in this video Scheffler wouldn’t do if he wanted to move the ball from right to left. It should also be noted. There isn’t a great ball striker that doesn’t rotate their knuckles down on the approach to impact! A straight golf shot is the unicorn of ball flights. You only have to watch shot tracer to see that very few tour players hit straight golf shots! Thanks for watching! Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🦄
