I have the Suhr Reactive Load IR and don't really have any complaints, but I haven't really had the chance to demo other load boxes. This is the one I would want to compare it to.

I had the same revelation while trying different load boxes and attenuators. My choice was the Fryette Power Station. It is the absolute best at both reactive load and attenuation. I find it uninspiring to play guitar through studio monitors. Even though IRs are much more better than my cab, the feeling of having a cab in the room is irreplaceable. Totally recommend you to check it out and include it in your comparison video.

Out of every load box the Red seven seems the best. If people have the money your Power Station is the GOAT. If you have both you are set for life.

I've tried the AxeFx3 (modeling), Fryette PS-100 (loadbox and poweramp), and the Tone King Ironman 2 (true attenuator). My preference for feel and inspiration was the Ironman 2. The PS-100 could have worked too if it worked in my setup. There was a hum with two PS-100 units I could never get rid of.

@@joejohnson8966 I've got a power station and it gathers dust. 99% of the time I'm plugged into the Waza TAE on stage and if I'm at home, either just plugged into my Fractal FM3 or amp to captor X to my interface.

Hey Mendel, did you ever figure out the issue with loading your own IR’s? I’m running into the same issue. I copy the IR into the folder but that channel has just the direct sound.

Have you noticed any degradation of the line out tone whenever the output volume is less that max? I had one and returned it because of this. It worked correctly if you took the signal out of the DSP outputs (with an empty IR) but the analogue line out was only usable when at max, which severely limited the usability, since the signal can be extremely hot on anything more than a 5W amp.

Great tone. Do you have an OD in front of the amp?

Nice video man! I'm thinking on buying this because i want a tube amp but I don't know much about this and have some questions. The virtual cabinets that you are using in this video are already inside the RedSeven when you bought it or are you using the cabs from, for example, York audio IR or how? The ones I’m using are already on the unit, but you can also load your own IR’s from your computer like the ones from my site drumsandtones.com

I am a bit confused . In the comparison you mentioned that driftwood is the best but here the rs is the king. I am about to buy one for metal . Finally which is better ? Rs or dw ?

Both great units, recently loving the RS a bit more. Other days I like the Driftwood. But now I love the RedSeven and putting depth up on the amp.

What are you waiting for? I gotta be mean to you dude in offering this suggestion, so don’t take this personally. Sell that ox top, grab either a red seven, driftwood, or Suhr. After you get the proper loadbox, to your preference buy the OX STOMP. You can now use all the utilities of your ox top, only you get to source the best load that you think sounds best. Good luck 👍🏻

Compared to St. Rock IR?

Hi Mendel, great vid and amazing tone and playing! I'm looking for a solution to run a stereo rig for live. I'd like to run a single tube amp head into two separate cabs (set wide apart on stage) and use a pedal for stereo effects (chorus, ping-pong delay, ect) between the left and right cabs. Im not interested in any of the IR or cab modelling shenanigans. 😆 I just want the natural tone from the amp and cabs. Basically a stereo splitter for the amp that allows for stereo modulation. Would this unit work? It looks like the holy grail for what I'm trying to achieve. Or is it overkill - and is there something else simpler/cheaper that will do what I need?? Also (sorry for all the questions) - in the above mentioned setup, could I also use the RedSeven as an attenuator to push the amp at low volumes though the cabs? And would having this unit in the chain have any noticeable effect on the tone of the amp? Cheers 🤘

No you wouldn’t need this unit, but I believe most amps have multi outs these days! What amp is it?

@@Mendelian I haven't purchased the amp yet, but looking for a tube head for high gain (seriously considering the EVH Stealth after watching this video!!). 99.9% tube amps are mono. I could certainly run to two separate cabs no problem - but not with stereo channels for modulation effects. I *think* this RS Amp Central will allow just that.

Get the EVH Stealth and then the RedSeven in the chain could work!

I think you could use it like that, but as I understand the unit backpanel, you will have to use 2 loops, one for each side of the outputs. So, 4 cables just for the loops, 2 XLR for the final outputs along with effects each R/L and 2x Speaker cables (From amp/To amp). Did you finally came with this approach?

Hi Mendel! Is it better from a Captor X? its the same thing basicly exept that the two notes product offer a lot more with IR interface.
