The Redemption of Choso

Originally introduced as a cursed spirit who desired revenge against Yuji Itadori for the deaths of his brothers, he has now become Yuji most loyal ally. Willing to support him no matter what path he chooses to walk, as he is their big brother and he will bare the brunt of lifes hardships if it means Yuji can live more peacefully in the future.

    The phrase "Blood is thinker than water" is acutally a modified version of the original. The orignial sying is "The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb." With the full phrase it actually flips the meaning of the phrase on it's head. Saying the family you chose is stronger than the family you are born to.

  • @Yggdraseed

    @Yggdraseed

    I think what's really interesting about Choso's relationship to his family is that it sort of embodies both of the inverted meanings of the abbreviated and the complete saying. Yes, he's protective of his blood siblings to the point of near zealotry and doesn't really concern himself with anyone else. But he also doesn't just take that blood bond for granted, or leave it unexamined. He's clearly very philosophical and reflects on the meaning of a blood bond a lot, and so he imbues the relationship between brothers, between family with meaning. So he doesn't just believe that family is everything, he reinforces and elaborates on that belief, elevating it even further. I think it's a really cool way to write a character so as to examine both ideas of blood family and found family.

    Seeing as how the Kamo clan is mentioned in this video, I'd like to point out a fun detail. I've seen a lot of people who are confused on why Noritoshi Kamo (Kyoto student) is named as such. They interpret it as an oversight or a plot hole. I think that it's a fun detail, as Noritoshi was likely named by his mother, who has no connection to the Jujutsu world and thus wouldn't know how taboo the name would be.

    Redemption isn't the right word. Choso was never shown to be evil, he was never someone the audience was supposed to dislike. Quite the opposite. The moment Eso released the technique when he heard Kechizu cry out in pain was supposed to make the brothers sympathetic to the audience. Yuji apologizing before finishing Eso, Yuji talking to Nobara about how he feels bad since tears have been shed over someone he killed and obviously when Choso asked for his brothers last words, and Yuji, with a sad expression tells him they cried. Choso doesn't need a redemption because he was sympathetic and relatable from the start. He was never a villain. And anyone that ever hated Choso or his brothers needs to learn to read. Note that this comment is not meant to criticise the content of the video, as I am now about to watch it. This comment merely criticises the word choice of "redemption" in the title since Choso never needed to redeem himself in the first place. EDIT: Only Choso, Eso and Kechizu surviving is wrong. All of them technically survived and are kept in a fragmented state at Jujutsu High. The three oldest were taken by Mahito and fed to humans in order to posess those bodies and gain them as allies. There is no evidence in the series that the same can't be done with the remaining 6 brothers. Saying that each pellet of supernova is on par with a piercing blood shot is full on made up. This has never been said in the series and if it was true, then Yuji and Naoya would have died 10 times over when they were hit with supernova. Supernova isn't even close to piercing bloods lethality but for that it covers a wider area and is more versatile for defensive purposes as well. The rest is spot on. Very good video.

    @@coca_0146Killed a bunch of people? So what? Humans kill curses all the time, they even use them as genue pigs and experiments, and even use them to test students like in the goodwill event. Some curse users have powers that capture and manipulate curses and use them as sacrifices and weapons in battle like Geto. Humans don't care about the lives of curses, why should a curse care about a human's life? If humans don't need redemption for what they do to curses, then why do curses need redemption for what they do to humans?

  • @TheSoulCalledZuzia

    I disagree. "Choso doesn't need a redemption because he was sympathetic and relatable from the start. He was never a villain. And anyone that ever hated Choso or his brothers needs to learn to read." No, that just means those people don't like characters that do morally wrong things. I don't hate them, in fact I like Choso, but that's just wrong statement. And it is technically redemption. Because even Choso knew he did bad things and was willing to give away his life to redeem himself. But Yuki allowed him to keep on living, as a human this time. So the choice is 100% correct.

  • @ardynizunia9709

    @ardynizunia9709

    3 ай бұрын

    @@TheSoulCalledZuzia Again, I disagree. Choso blames himself, like how people in real life often blame themselves for things that were inflicted on them. Choso and his brothers are victims of Kenjakus schemes and Choso is mentally tormented because of it. Choso feels he needs redemption. But for the viewer, he does NOT. Because the viewer gets the necessary context and perspective to retroactively understand Chosos actions. It is not redemption, but rather a revelation if that makes sense? Like, the more information we had revealed on Chosos circumstances and the more character exploration we got for him, the more it made sense and the harder it was to blame him for this stuff. I agree Choso did morally wrong things, but if a LITERAL CHILD was abused and manipulated by an adult to do certain things, would we blame the child? No, we blame the adult. Choso is basically that. That is what I mean by saying redemption isn't the right word. People that think Choso needs to redeem himself to become a character they can support either didn't read far enough yet or missed the point entirely with Chosos character exploration. As it reframes his actions into that of a victim of his circumstances. A confused, depressed child used to commit terrible acts, now drowning in guilt and blaming himself most of all. That is not called redemption, it's called understanding. Someone like Toji who was willing to kill anyone with no regard for morality, he would need redemption for his acts to be forgiven as he was in full mental control of his terrible acts. But, and that's why Toji is a great example, when it comes to him being a dead beat dad, once we got the context that Toji sold Megumi because he believed Megumis life would be better that way, NOT because he wanted to get rid of him, Toji did NOT "redeeem" himself as a father. He got "recontexualized" as a father and we learned he wasn't actually that bad of a father after all. The same goes for Choso. New information and insight on his personality recontexualized his crimes. He was never redeemed, we just didn't fully understand him beforehand, which is where the antagonistic disposition came from. Hope this huge comment, if you even bother to read it, cleared up my thinking and shows you why I believe the word redeem doesn't fit, but rather something like recontexualization or a proper understanding which has been reached for the character. Oh and one more note. As stated in the original comment, but I wanna explain it more explicitely, Choso was never meant to be a villain from a STORYTELLING perspective. Realistically, he is a murderer, but the context makes it more of a tragedy rather than him being a villain. So no redemption needed either way. But from the perspective of a STORY, Choso was 100% intended to be relatable, understandable and someone you never criticise in his decisions, as they are all understandable and everything, even him killing random humans, is given a reason and context, just gotta properly read it and remember it.

Most curses are just the byproduct of CE randomly aglomerating but sometimes people's negativity towards a specific thing causes a curse specific to it to be born, so i think sorcerer's ct would be the same, Nobara's ct is based around japanese folklore, Higuruma's is based around law, Naobito's ct is based around animation and is said to be recent(him being the first user), Panda even mentions how as society changes new ct's are born and that the higher ups tend to valorize traditional ct's and despise modern ones and that this is why they hate Hakari.

    When the ball rolls on the flat surface of the ground, its motion is opposed by the force of friction (the friction arises between the ground and the ball). This frictional force eventually stops the ball. Therefore, the correct answer is (c). If the surface of the level ground is lubricated (with oil or some other lubricant), the friction that arises between the ball and the ground will reduce, which will enable the ball to roll for a longer distance. 5. A truck starts from rest and rolls down a hill with a constant acceleration. It travels a distance of 400 m in 20 s. Find its acceleration. Find the force acting on it if it’s mass is 7 tonnes (Hint: 1 tonne = 1000 kg.) Solution Given, distance covered by the truck (s) = 400 meters Time taken to cover the distance (t) = 20 seconds The initial velocity of the truck (u) = 0 (since it starts from a state of rest)

    If they hurt this poor boy I SWEAR. All I want is for this poor boy to be happy and get a break. All that time locked away and losing his brothers I hope this boy gets his happiness with his brother. Especially the repeated themes of curses feeling pain and not necessarily all being emotionless monsters. I feel like what Hanami says in that "It's impossible to coexist with humans any longer." at least implied some of them tried. The themes of the sorcerers for the most part never considering whether cutting all of them down without exception because they're just curses is right, paralleled by Mahitos identical attitude but to humans is another point there. I feel like him being accepted and his help being accepted despite what he is would play a great part in changing things/the conclusion of those themes.

    My theory about choso reappearing is this: Currently Choso is chlling with Tengen and Yuki. Yuki being an incredibly experienced fighter and Tengen being the master of all barriers. We also know that Choso is incredibly inexperienced. The fight against Gojo is probably the first fight of his entire life for all we know. So instead of just doing nothing, it would fit Choso to ask Yuki and Tengen for teaching because Choso wants to be as strong as he can to fulfill his duty as the older brother. He knows Tengen is the top 1 authority on barrier techniques and the first time he met Yuki, she protected them all from sure death by the hands of Uraume, so he knows how strong she is. So I'm guessing that Choso will come back stronger than ever before, actually getting practical teaching instead of fighting purely on talent with zero experience like he did so far. He may even come back with a domain expansion given that Tengen is there to potentially instruct him. A cool domain would be something that allows him to 100% control every bloodcell because domains make your techniques guaranteed hits. So maybe in his domain he can control every bloodcell 100% precisely, thus killing off every weakness Choso has. And then instad of a typical domain, it could be something unique like a domain only focused on his own body instead of expanding a territory. Similar to simple domain or falling blossom emotion. That way Choso would counter other domains and nullify his own remaining weaknesses of blot clotting and water. Making him formidable in every situation.

    @@kadensas3021 That is what I'm saying, Choso is a natural talent. In his fight with Yuji the narrator even told us Choso is an amteur. When the sprinkler system messed up Chosos technique the narrator said "The INEXPERIENCED fighter Choso didn't understand what was going on." And as I explained above, the manga straight up tells us that Choso was aborted at birth, then his remains were sealed away in Jujutsu High and then Mahito stole those remains at the school exchange event and reincarnated Choso and 2 of his brothers with those remains. I'm telling you, Choso was literally an aborted fetus that didn't even walk a day in his life, and then he fought Gojo just a couple weeks after being born and never having fought before. Ofc the Gojo fight was just him supporting from a distance, but still. There literally is no other conclusion to the evidence we have, Choso is THAT TALENTED that his fight against Yuji was only his second ever fight in his life and yet he kept up in close quarters against the martial arts expert that is Yuji. That is why I have such high hopes for Choso.

    Thinking about it do we know anything about Todo's family? Could it be a case where his also a child made by Kenjaku, he has the signs of an inhuman strength and the flash back with Yuji could be the same connection Choso got. Todo doesn't need to be a womb but more of a experimental child like Yuji

    I doubt it, mainly because Gege would've hinted at or explored the possibilities if that was the case. Seems more like Todo is just naturally strong as a sorcerer and the flashback was Todo being Todo.
