I'm here for the GLHS goodness!!! I have GLHS #754 as well as a standard 87 Shelby (non-GLHS). I've seen/read about the elusive red GLHS for a while now. I'm excited to see this thing come alive!

I’m not a fan of actually being ON the social media’s!

I remember seeing these on the road on a daily basis back in the 80s my childhood. Not easy finding these in the best condition. God I want a classic myself.

We used to own this exact car #941! My husband did a lot of work and is the one who put in the Mopar Stage 2 computer into it. But seeing its condition when you purchased it definitely is heartbreaking. Thank you for seeing its beauty and saving it. ❤️

Love these cars , I owned 2 83 shelby chargers and my first and only new car I have ever bought new was an 83 tourismo 2.2.

This is going to be a lot of fun, I can't wait for you to get the Charger(ette) going!

That's a cool car I had a 1986 Shelby Charger in the 90's it was blue and grey and such a fun car to drive it was all stock and back then there was not much info on the performance side but it was still awesome. I have always wanted to get another one of them if I could find one in good shape. Anyway that's a cool car and can't wait to see you get it going.

Awesome car congratulations! I’m glad it’s found a good home. With a little work you’ll have a reliable fun car that’s a blast to drive. I’ve been into these cars since they were new, and still enjoy driving them. They’re just fun!! I own a 86 GLHS, 86 Shelby Charger with the old DC intercooler kit, and a 88 Shelby Z. The turbo Dodge Community is a great group of people. Welcome ;)

I always wanted one of these cars when they were produced. I'm really looking forward to watching your channel!

Great project car. I've owned a GLHS for over 20 years now. The condition of mine was very similar to yours when I bought the car. I would check the forward frame rails for corrosion. I had to replace both of them along with the forward floorboards. Hopefully they are ok, but it can be a trouble area for these cars. Good luck, I'm really looking forward to seeing the restoration!

Nice no car like a Mopar should be fun i have a little 15 Ford fiesta ST and i love it broke lots of heart with a much bigger budget i have a 83 d150 stepside SE Royal Dodge Ram pickup that is not stock and lots of fun God bless from Canada eh Mopar mean old Plymouth's are rad!!!

I had one of these. Blew the head gasket, coolant went into the oil and wiped out the bearings in the turbo too. About a $2k to repair back in the day. A fast and fun little car!

I had a Plymouth Horizon back in the early 90's. I think it was '84 or '85 and blew a head gasket. Was going to cost $500+ to fix it and didn't have the money at the time, so it went to a scrap yard eventually.

Nice to see you giving it a go on your own channel. Luv watching you on Lucore Auto. Oh I like Rich and Austin as well

Its a Turbo 1 car. I would not have an intercooler. You have a draw trough intake setup meaning the throttle body is mounted on the inlet side of the compressor housing. Plenty of intake manifolds out there if you would like to add the intercooler.

Grate Project car, I watched your post and quit intrigued. I am cleaning house and have several part you may need, one sun roof still in roof, one rear window louver use only summer of 85, one rear window Shelby with original decals in tack . I am looking for the radiator Intercooler Assembly and the two-piece Intake and new Inter cooler in and out hoses they may be in the trailer, no other place left for parts. If you are in need of any of these parts I will watch for a reply I have 3 Cars One 85 GLH I bought new it has 38,600 miles on it was Auto-X from 85 to 91 Been in storage one 66 Charger My currant Auto Cross Car one 59 Belvedere Next project car

This car is definitely intriguing! We did post a video of the parts we do have. Unfortunately it’s been so cold lately here in Ohio and no heat in the garage makes it hard to move forward right now.

Followed over, always wanted a GLHS and it is a need not a want... 🤣

i think my glhs came with black rear window louvers too, the real thing all the way thru, be aware that computers may log it in as an ,..86 model,i had so much trouble with chrysler,an computer not matching, i think its really a late year 1986...

Nice Stealth... Those are cool little cars, I prefer the Shelby Omni. You could possibly put a moon/sunroof back in it. Didn't those cars have luvers on the back window?

The stealth is his and it’s a twin turbo! That thing is fun as hell too!! As far as putting a sunroof in, I have one on my daily and NEVER use it! 😂 It’s just so loud!

my glhs also had black rear window louvres....

First problem with it is that it does not have the original engine either. That is a non-AC Turbo I engine.

and a manual/ book with it,and a way for 300 horsepower, mopar 60 or whatever it was, you must give it posi though, unless you like tire smoke an,...torque steer, mine was real,an numbers matching etc...

Putting a turbo hemi in it might be fun

I haven’t deleted anything. I did see it. I have also had an issue where I will respond two times to a comment and my comment doesn’t show.

Had an 86 Daytona Turbo Z. Put nearly 300k miles on that car! I know these engines quite well…

So what is glhs about it, no Shelby valve cover, no speedometer that was in the glhs. Looks like a regular Shelby with glhs stickers on it.

an yes i been driving dakota r/t 18 years....

they came from shelby chargers like 1985 or 86 with 146 horse power.....they weighy 2483 pounds....omni is lighter an set records running 14.40,s an charger would do high 14,s no good for drag racing unless changed to rear wheel drive traction, posi,i found out, torque steer is the pits...

Ok that's clear well than you can put a Stroker in it! lol

We did not see a keyhole on the outside, but did find a release inside the car, but it wouldn't work.

We did a quick search last night and apparently those had the turbo1 in them not the turbo 2. We will follow up on that in the next installment. Stay tuned.

What reference did you use, I started at a dodge dealership as a tech in 88. And I'm pretty sure the turbo 2 was standard engine in that model for 87
