The Kapoho Kalapana Road, also known as the Red Road, travels 15 miles along the lower Puna coast on the Big Island. This narrow, winding road takes you through some of the most spectacular scenery reminiscent of the old Hawaii of yesteryear. A massive lava flow from the 2018 Kilauea volcano eruption destroyed a major part of this beautiful road. Some small sections have since been rebuilt.
In the first half of this film, I used a warm, rustic tone color grading to evoke a timeless, vintage feel. It creates a dramatic contrast to the bright, colorful second half.
