I haven't seen the whole video yet, but at 10:50 it is said that you have to take all the resources that you are eligible for from the market, up to your inventory limit. But you are always allowed to decline resources and take only what you want up to the maximum allowed to you (English rulebook page 15). You just can't throw away resources on a later turn if you've already put them in your inventory, and you can't spend resources you are unable to store on a subsequent guild action you take the same turn (because you have to complete a workshop trigger, a guild action, or a resource activation completely before moving onto your next action).

When you move a die around, you can do the actions... take materials, use the card effect, use the bonus action (if you have the right coloured die, of course) ... in any order.

Considering its category as a gateway PLUS, I would rate this game a 8 - For what it gives you versus the box size and rules load, I found this to be amazing package. More and more I am being attracted to games that are elegant and gives you a good amount of interesting decisions in a fluid phaseless way. Because of the area majority, it does plays better at 3+ player count, but I still found it great a 2p.

The scaling with the setup cards is smart, as well as the points for second place in a two player game (1/3 total points for each tower, vs 1/2 in a 3-4 player game).

Great video again. Although I think you had 2 too many cards out, 2 player has 12 cards. Plus end game scoring in a 2 player game 2nd place in each tower gets 1/3 points. Although didn't matter in this game. Red Cathedral ended in my top 10 of 2020! First heard of it when Johannes mentioned it in most anticipated games of 2020.

Everyone that I played with loved it (all gamers)... The depth comes from the interaction among players and the area majority dispute, not from the rules weight. Also, it is sort of a race because game ends when one player builds 6 cards... So there is that tension as well one needs to constantly mind...

You got the scoring all wrong :-(, when you tie with 2 players you don't get any points for that column, also there is a difference between column value and area control points, for the column value each completed card counts 2 and the decoration counts 1, however for the area control split each banner and decoration count as 1. I don't know if it would affect the final result, but I believe that you should review the final scoring section before playing it again...
