I'm definitely with you on helping others, do you REALLY need to buy that shiny new gadget, use it for a short time then throw it in a drawer and forget about it, or would it have been better to go to like Jolibee's and buy 25 or 50 lunches and take them out to the less fortunate on the street. The joy, happiness, and smiles you get from those people will warm your heart and leave a lasting impression and memory that will live on forever. I also agree with you on doing acts of kindness quietly, the ones making a big deal out of it and making sure others know they did it, are they TRULY doing a kind act or are they doing it to benefit themselves. If you get something in return for a donation, did you really "donate" or did you just trade one thing for another, like corporations having to hold a press conference to make a donation to charity, they're getting FREE publicity and increased business from it, and they'll just claim the donation on taxes, they're benefiting far more than they donated, so they really did NOT donate anything. Just like those KZread channels of people giving away items to people, they upload it to KZread and make money from the video, is it REALLY an act of kindness, or just a way of making money. I'm retired from the Air Force, and would have nothing but time to spend all day everyday with that one special lady should I find her. Someone to relax and be happy with, and just enjoy the little things in life making memories together. The way you speak of your reasons shows you are just as excited 5 years later as you were day 1, and you don't regret your decision. I hope you and your family have a great day Boss.

Thank you @Eric Taylor for your wonderful commentary. You really nailed it this time. And yes, no regrets! thanks as always, and I hope you have a great day as well. 😀
We unfortunately just picked a very bad time to immigrate to the Philippines, but it was an amazing learning experience. It did help us see some things we'll do differently when we move back again. With the exception on kids our reasons were pretty much the same. Now that we've added a child to the mix even that one is the same.

It cost me $2000-2400 a month to live in TN and that is $735 for my mortgage that was bought for 100K and is valued at 240K now that I bought 11 yr ago on a 30 yr fix at 2.5% Apr. and $175 lights and water, $200 car and truck insurance, both paid off. $300 groceries, another $500 for 4 different credit cards, I usually put like $200-500 on then together, but if I don’t use them, then it zero credit cards. $150 on cell phone. Oh and gas for my car/truck is usually $40-50 a week and cable/internet is like $200 a month. I make 10K a month and bring home $8500 a month. I just remembered, my credit card is use for my gas and groceries, so that bill will be one, and not separate. So either I pay cash for those items or put it on the credit card.

Hi Gale - watched a few videos and I think I like your relaxed style of presenting. I have been visiting both Thailand and the Philippines since around 2010 and I do like the Philippine way of life / culture compared to Thai (though never really experienced village life in Thailand). I always love visiting my sister-in-law's family. It is always a good time and great food, though the 2-3 year old niece is a little lively for me - I like my beer and quiet time and 2-3 year olds do not understand quiet time. From the video - I think #4 - 'start afresh' is the big one. That alone would have spurred you on to do better than before. No chains holding you back or close associates or friends for that matter. You were free to build better knowing all the past mistakes. Take care, keep the vids coming and I will check in now and then.

Hello there @Len Lever 🙂thank you for your kind feedback and commentary. And yes, the "fresh start" was a great experience. Life is definitely a lot different than before. I am blessed that life before was great, and life after is also great. But now is much simpler, busy in some ways, but still slower paced, and peaceful. Thanks for "clicking in" and sharing your thoughts. 🙂
Not selfish at all brother. Actually you are saving yourself and see your truth in what life is truly all about. Great video and always appreciate your transparency.

Hey Gale, you and I seem to be a lot alike. I also fell in love with the Philippines during my first visit with my Filipina wife in Bulacan way back in 1993. Though my marriage didn’t last, my love for the Philippines has and I can’t wait to meet my girlfriend in Cebu City. I’ve visited the Philippines 8 times since and have been all over Luzon but your reasons for moving are the same reasons I’m coming there for good. Many expats still live like they’re in the west but I’ve embraced the culture, the food, and the people. There isn’t anywhere I’d rather be than living in the Philippines. Many of my Filipino friends here in New Jersey say I’m more Filipino than most Filipinos so I look forward to living my dream with my Filipina girlfriend and starting a band and playing great music. For me, everyone loves music in the Philippines and so I’ll take all the songs I’ve written over the years and just have fun playing and making people happy. God bless you and your family and maybe one day we can get together. Would look forward to it.

I had planned on bringing my new family to the United States. After the uvalde shooting in Texas. I decided I did not want my stepdaughter to go through active shooter drills every week in school here in Texas! Thank you Governor Abbott🤢. So I'm on my way. I just sold my house I close on the 1st. Short stopover in the Yukon then I'm on my way 😎

Hey there @Yuppiemike ... I think you're making the right decision brother! I say it over and over again that one of my main reasons for moving here is bringing my kids up in the Philippines culture. I just feel like American culture is highly questionable and out of control. Sure, we can maintain our standards within the household, but outside influence comes at us from every direction. Here in the Philippines, it's a much more peaceful atmosphere. I wish you the best as you make your way! Keep me posted! Peace and blessings!
awesome! were your parents supportive of moving to a foreign country? I imagine some would want their adult children to stay closer to them

I am having difficulty deciding where my first stop will be Dumaguete, or Angeles city area Davao area . Not going to Manila at all. any thoughts on that subject
@G5Philippines
Жыл бұрын
Hello @Joseph Trawick ... it really depends on what you want to do when you arrive. of the 3 cities you mention, Dumaguete would probably be my choice. Dumaguete has everything you could need or want. Solid infrastructure and all the modern amenities. Davao is nice, but it's so far away at the southernmost end of the country. And Angeles City being near Manila, and mostly known to be a bar town... is not appealing to me at all. Dumaguete would be my choice, but thats just me. 🙂👍🏻
Out of curiosity, are you on the island of Palawan? Only asking because you showed the beaches by Puerto Princessa.

Good afternoon, I sent you a reply letter. Late last night which would be your Monday morning. I sent the reply to your Facebook or at least that's what I think? I was strolling the internet and found out that you are a bass guitar player, and have lived in Texas. I've been in Denton Texas for 32 years. If we ever get a chance to meet maybe we can throw together and Export Jam session? I hope you got my letter and I hope all is well with your family. The information you give is a blessing! Sincerely JW Miller😮

Hello again @jwmiller9089 ... I looked on our facebook and I did not receive your letter. Do you know where you sent it? Yes, I grew up in a musical family and picked up bass. I grew up in the Houston area and all of my family is still there. Just message me on our facebook page at facebook.com/theg5family and we'll coordinate a time to visit. "See" ya then! 😃

@@G5Philippines good evening, I was glad to get your reply. I don't have a Facebook account! Possibly that's why my letter did not work? As I said I will be 75 in October. My wife has COPD. And I will stay with her here until she passes. At that point I hope you visit the Philippines I want a 3-month tourist visa. In the hopes of getting a two bedroom apartment handicap equipped with a backup generator in a gated community. On a budget of 2 G per month. Hopefully that will get me a driver helper live in maid? Come back to the States and liquidate over here. Do you know of a Pentecostal Church in Valencia? Music has always been one of the key factors of life peace and happiness! That's why I said maybe if we ever meet? We can set up a jam session. Rhythm and blues, or like a friend of mine said years ago! Rock and roll is just a high-speed spinoff or BackBeat of the Poor Man's Blues. I hope you get this? And I hope your family is truly blessed! I appreciate all of your insights, and your sense of humor. Sincerely JW Miller 👍😃🥁

hey there @@jwmiller9089 😃 Yes, so maybe just email your letter to me at galeforcephilippines@gmail.com and we can coordinate a call. I think the $2k per month is doable, just keep in mind there will be some upfront costs to land your place and get settled. I'm not aware of the church community in Valencia, but I do know of a pentecostal church in Amlan which is about an hour from Valencia, that is, if you are talking about the Valencia near Dumaguete. Music is my passion, right below God and my family, and yes for sure, would love to jam with you. Are you a drummer? I have a full kit here. Send me that email and let's get in touch. Peace and Blessings brother!
What about the Covid door to door process and do you have to be vaccinated to stay there? My wife is from Samar.
@G5Philippines
Жыл бұрын
Hello @James Westborn ... covid travel restrictions have all but lifted. In other words, we can pretty much come and go as we please. I am not a vaccine card holder, and I have only been asked to see it 1 time, and that was for entry into the local city hall building. And no, we are not required to be vaccinated to stay or live here. 🙂👍🏻
