The REASON Why BARCELONA can win the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE!
Barcelona reach the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time since 2020!
"I told the players to stay calm, nobody was going to die today. The press were saying we were the buffoons in the Champions League, unfair criticism from journalists. Was that necessary? Are we still the buffoons?" Xavi said after beating Napoli.
This season, Barça looks like one of the Champions League's dark horses - no one expects them to succeed, with some experts expecting the Blaugrana to be thrashed in the final eight, just like they were in the summer of 2020 when Bayern Munich defeated Barcelona 8-2.
Still, such expectations demonstrate a complete misunderstanding of what Xavi's current project is all about. If at the end of January Barcelona looked like an unbalanced team, the team that didn't have a clue what they were playing, then now it's a completely different thing. A month and a half has passed since Xavi announced his retirement at the end of the season - the manager pulled this trick in order to "release" public pressure from his players and start from scratch. Well, believe it or not, it has had BROUGHT UNBELIEVABLE RESULTS: after the defeat versus Villarreal, the Catalans played 9 matches, 6 which they won and drew three times - in other words, since the shocking announcement, the Spanish giants have not been beaten, netting 18 goals and conceding 7 - on average, they now score 2 goals per game and concedes less than 1 goal. The gap to Girona in La Liga was reduced to 1 point and to 8 points behind Real Madrid - 10 matchdays before the league's finishing line and Barça are still in the race. Moreover, Xavi's men also showed their best in the duel with the reigning Italian champions Napoli - a confident performance in both legs that resulted in a total score of 4:2.

"Barça, which comes out on the pitch with motivation, intensity and putting pressure on the opponents, makes a team capable of competing against anyone," Sport.es director Joan Vehils wrote after the game.
There is no doubt that Barca can be quite an uncomfortable opponent for any team in the quarter-finals.
Today's Barcelona stands out as a well-balanced top team with its own stylish sides. The turning point of the season for Blaugrana was definitely the clash versus Alaves, in which Xavi experimented with Christensen as a defensive midfielder, or as they say nowadays - a 'false defender'. The transformation of the Dane, who is able to win a duel on any pitch area and possesses a great vision, had finally balanced the roster, which suffered without an elite defensive midfielder of Busquets' caliber.
Andreas is not perfect in this position, but his defensive work and the way the Catalans' squad has been rebuilt since then has CHANGED EVERYTHING! They are now a very complex but very well-oiled mechanism - the return of ter Stegen has also given the necessary a boost in terms of reliability on the back. Were never beating City/RMA if we reach the final but it will be crazy if we can beat PSG. Then beating Athletico/Dortmund doesn't seem as hard. PSG are looking like strong contenders. City/RMA will wear out by the final, they also just won recently. Let's see

I believe as of now that FC Barcelona are lucky of their positions right now, with the UCL restarting and them beating Napoli, those injury problems have slowed down and their teams has caught fire as of late. It all really depends on if they can keep their form long enough to get to the final and can they play good enough defense to hold some of the best attacks in world football

I dont know why people say madrid will win it... their recent games in la liga in champions leage were bad.. and they are still in campions league thanks to refs and openda not having good finish...now that barca will play psg and surely if they dont get injuries they have big chance for final. Barca have so much talent and they playing better and better every single weak , now this month will show alot because barca needs face a.madrid and girona. And if they win those both games then they for sure will be in form to clash with psg.
There are blueprints on how to limit Mbappé - they have been seen in club AND national team play. PSG was beaten by Dortmund and struggled for large stretches against Sociedad and Newcastle, both of which we are better than. Also, I enjoy the new additions to our midfield. We have more intensity, more verticality, more directness. Of course we need to NOT overdo it, but it’s refreshing. And a good number of our players are in form. This season is one of our worst (it’s really not that bad) and we’re still doing better than most of the big teams in Europe by *far*. Visca Barcelona!

Xavi, winning the UCL or not, will have my respect cuz he has done quite a lot for our club as player and manage. He has cleared the clutter Koeman caused and the club is sort of finding the groove though there is still work needed. It's going to be tough but let's see.

I we get a simple path it could be possible. Last season, a similar thing happened with inter last season. I obviously have huge doubt we will make it past the last 8 but it is possible and maybe even likely that happens.

They’re both on the other side of the bracket. Winner of Barca v. PSG plays winner of Atletico v. Dortmund. Quarter finals probably more difficult than the semis, but take nothing for granted.

Media is Barca's biggest enemy. Matter of fact its Spanish footballs biggest enemy. There's a reason Pep, Lucho or Zidane never lasted. Even Ancelotti has spoken on how harsh it is to work in spain
I think this is a little bit glazing others might think its total glazing but I wouldn't necessarily say that because I do think we have an okay chance at going further in the champions league. If we draw against bayern or city we're most likely screwed but i think any other team it would be an interesting match and even versus as if we were drawn against city or bayern. If we get Dortmund or Atletico I'm not gonna say those are guaranteed wins but we have a better chance against those teams than any other. We've played and beat atletico already this season so we just need to repeat our success against them and Dortmund haven't been as incredibly threatening as the other potential teams we might face. And if we get past the quarter finals hopefully by that time we have better form, consistency, and confidence as well as pedri and de jong and ferran back. I only know that balde and gavi are out for the rest of the season but idk about anyone else. But I think we could be real dark horses with a little luck and form. Our system works well in attack as long as Lewa picks some form back up and scores more chances or Roque gets some chances and goes wild with goals when he has a chance. Or even Gui. I'm confident in my team while also trying to be realistic
I think we should just focus on the game against PSG ….
