The lead writer and narrative director of this game, Matt Sophos answered a question on Twitter that asked what did that last shrine mean? And he answered: "The larger figure behind Kratos is actually Thor standing over dead Kratos (which was in the original mural). But since Kratos changed his fate, all of that was painted over with the new prediction of his future where people revere Kratos. As he says to Freya/Mimir soon after...there is "much to do; much to rebuild." So this new future is a statue dedicated to Kratos "the rebuilder" rather than his past as "the destroyer"."

Same. I grew up playing the original games and it hits so differently if you have played/grew up with and know the history of how he got to this point. He went from someone who was a monster, hated and feared to someone who is loved, worshipped and considered to be a hero.

I don't know if you noticed but Sindri was using Brok's hammer and sword in the final battle. It is also ironic that the event that caused Odin's death was not all his crimes but the murder of Brok. When he killed Brok he put Sindri on the path that ended him once and for all. Remember Kratos and company were content to leave him trapped in the soul marble. It was Sindri that killed Odin, with Brok's hammer no less. The writing in this game is absolute top notch. In the first 3 games Kratos was the player character, but he was never a hero. In the past 2 games they took a destroyer of worlds and the embodiment of vengeance and turned him into an avatar for justice and rebuilding. BRAVO Santa Monica Studios..................BRAVO!!!!!

I think the majority of Sindri's anger is directed towards himself. When he revived Brok the first time, he failed to get his soul's "Direction". As a result, while he's mad at Odin for murdering Brok and Atreus and Kratos for inadvertently bringing Odin into his home, he's mad at himself most of all for stripping Brok of his afterlife

Freya appears chocking Odin with the binding spell noose I noticed that it was similar to Baldur and Freya's interaction in the 2018 game. The dialog is even similar. Baldur to Freya: I spent the last 100 years dreaming of this moment. I practiced everything I would say to you, every word. To make you understand exactly what you stole from me... Freya to Odin: I've spent many long winters thinking about what I would say to you as I watched you take your last breath... Baldur to Freya: But now I realize I don't need you to understand anything I don't need you at all. Freya to Odin: But now I realize there's only one thing I need you to know. You have no hold on me anymore. And that's not the only similarity between the two scenes. Baldur tries to strangle Freya to death. Freya tries to strangle Odin to death. And both people being strangled still profess their love for the person strangling them.

The moment we march into Asgard for war I felt an adrenaline rush like I had not felt since the final battle scene in Endgame. This is one of not just greatest games I’ve ever played, it’s also one of the best sequel/conclusions to a saga I have ever seen on screen! I cried no less than 4 times at this game, both at heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. And now we have seen not only Atreus/Loki grow into his own, we have seen Kratos finally do something I thought impossible…..open his heart not just for his wife and son, but to the world. The moment he breaks down after seeing his tryptic shrine and sees that he becomes good and beloved god I cried just as hard with him. And Atreus/Loki making the decision to leave his father and journey to find the rest of his people, I was damn near broken, this must be what parents feel like when their kids graduate and leave home. The one thing that I had a problem with is that the “true ending” is with the funeral with Brok. I loved how it was done but I don’t want the conclusion to this game to be not just saying goodbye to Brok but seeing Sindri completely broken, and implying that he may never recover from his grief and guilt. But still it is a masterpiece of a game. Thank you Corey Barlog, Eric Williams and all the great geniuses behind making this game. I will treasure it always.😭😭😭👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I do know that when it comes to grief, there are often no silver linings, certainly no happy endings. You just endure, survive. I applaud the writers for not shying away from the fact that for some, they're never made whole again. It's not happy, and not what many want from their entertainment, but it's an important perspective to share. It makes me wonder what members of this team had gone through in their own personal lives to write with such bravery.

I really like the idea that fate is not a written truth, but a consequence of the patterns that we create ourselves. Kratos wanted to die. Faye's death weighed on him like nothing else and only his son allowed him to hold on. But gradually, as it happens with children, he began to grow and move away from his father. Left alone, Kratos can no longer fight the pain of losing Faye. Therefore, in the original version of the prophecy, he had to die: because the old man with the logs himself called death and Kratos longed for death in battle during Ragnarok. But it was love for Faye and Atreus that made Kratos grow above himself and understand that he has something to live for and, more importantly, what not to die for. That's why he stayed alive at the end of the story. Because he fought for life, not for death. Because he opened his heart to the world and was not alone with his grief.

The voice actors, mocap team, design team, down to the music composition was so well done. The Jörmungandr that fights Thor is the "new" one. He's a child at that point. The adult version is still in Midgard during this timeline.

The Bard Dwarf uses the likeness of and is voiced by Bear McCreary, who is the main composer of the game. So when he says he made that dirge for Brok, he literally meant it.

I agree with the end fight. It never captured the OG trilogy fights with the gods, they were going for a more grounded vibe though compared to the originals. Very good storytelling though 👌

Kratos has grown more than any other character in any game I’ve ever seen. These games are so emotional more than any other I’ve ever played. The life lessons in this game are so good. For the normal people in the world saying how can a game make you get emotional… they just don’t understand.

I would've liked that Atreus be at Brok's funeral in some small capacity. I wouldn't have him as part of the group as I don't think Sindri would've been very happy to see Atreus there. But perhaps have him on a ridge overlooking the funeral and before Sindri vanishes, Atreus would change into his wolf form and give a mournful howl. A howl to say goodbye to both of his lost friends. Brok and Sindri.

I loved the fact that Sindri delivered the final blow in Odin, it was so unexpected yet it was set up so well. To watch him go from a comic relief character to a broken man was so tragic, but I loved it all the same.

Does anybody think that Faye and Thor could be half siblings or possibly even twins? My theory is based off the fight at the Crater in Vanahiem. Thor choosing to side with Odin and the Aesir and Faye choosing to fight the Aesir on behalf of the Jotnar. It would explain the similarities between the two and why the were chosen to wield equally matched weapons. Perhaps that could have something to do with why Odin wanted to keep Thor from thinking too much and how poetic it would be that through Kratos, Faye was able to finally convince Thor to defy Odin. I'm think that was what she was trying to do by meeting with Thor in Vanahiem but failed and in her frustration with him attacked Thor which started that fight. This would also give purpose to Thrud and Atreus' relationship because that would make them cousins. What do yaw think?

The World Serpent is the Giant put in the small Snake, Mimir tell something about that after the end of the game. Thor send him into the past and this snake wait since Loki arrived for helping him. The famous battle Snake vs Thor was this battle.

Totally get Sindri's grief, but man...it's so sad to see him push away those closest to him. I get how he partially blames them, but it was just heartbreaking when Atreus said "I thought we were his family too" and Kratos says "We were."

Obviously the ending was perfect. We are the makers of our own fate and how it ends. We aren't born with a purpose that's a romanticize thing that people believe today. We go out there and we find that purpose and we write into it becomes our reality. Our lives our own, no one, No person or God or anything can tell or decide your fate that's all you. You gotta believe in your own power to make true the path you want if not then you will be a slave until you die. Fate only binds you if you let it.
