Really love it whenever you make videos or solo podcasts like these. It's insightful to hear you share your experiences working within the industry while also giving genuine advice for other designers. The video definitely helps put things into perspective when it comes to working and using your time.

AI helped me a ton when I was working in agency, it sped up my workflow by getting rid of "blank canvas syndrome" and I was using midjourney v3 which is essentially just blobs of color and shape but nothing cohearent. the shapes led way to ideas that I then refined. like getting an Idea for a painting by looking into the clouds

100% the same for me when it comes to burn out. It’s hard to stay motivated sometimes. I learned how to track my brain when it tries to tell me that there are no more ideas to execute. What I do in those situations is very simple, I basically try to escape the same pattern of behavior by introducing myself to some new very spontaneous experience. Just to be able to shift my paradigm enough to be able to see all things from a new perspective.

One thing I’ve run into in my career is shiny object syndrome or always looking for the “next thing.” I was intensely passionate about design for about 4 years when I was learning it and going through college and getting my first job. Then, that job wasn’t so fulfilling and I started trying to develop a video game on the side (which I suck at lol). Now, I got a cool agency design job and it’s pretty rewarding, but I still struggle finding myself in design again. Watching your channel has been awesome for me to feel like I have a design friend (I know, so sad) and you have some great ideas. Overall, it’s cool to see where you are at after so much grit and I think picking a lane and sticking to your guns is the way to go. Thanks Jesse

Just got into your KZread content. I appreciate the visuals, they are providing insightful direction for formatting. I also push myself to burnout as a morning person. As an artist & designer I am giving myself multiple industry roles. I am discovering the versatile artwork flow equipments me to adapt to the maturing Ai circulation in the market. Cheers to making it to your own thing!

Thanks for this man. Couple years out of school now and been on salary for the last two. You were spot on for what that can be like. Watching your vids has inspired me a lot just bc it sounds like your path is somewhat similar to mine. Thanks for showing us that those feelings are normal and expected. Giving me the will to push on and make dope shit for me and remember why I got into this in the first place 🙏🙏🙏

I don't usually comment at videos, but I just had pause for a while and do it! I like how chill and honest you are, talking quality stuff that come to your mind all connected to the work process and graphic design and sharing a lot of your concerns about yourself and being self consious and critical (which is great on one hand because it makes you get better, but don't get used to it so much), but on the other side everyone here looks how good you're doing! I enjoy your "rambling" videos as well so much and keeeeep doing more of it, please pleasee share your tought process, it's so valuable! :D respect

always enjoy your solo podcasts and just hearing your thoughts! i think you’re really right with designers not letting themselves be bad and i’d say that’s what i regret the most about my design school experience is not letting myself experiment more and explore and moreso feeling a pressure to have something good to show potential employers and honestly just trying to feel like i’m good enough compared to my peers. id also say social media can be great for inspiration and connection but it has led to more comparison and negative feelings in my own life. now i’m navigating what being a creative looks like without social media and if i’m missing out by not having it. anyways, great ep!

You might not even understand how awesome what you do really is. There are so many designers that are just starting out and are not connected to the design community, watching your stuff really helps with putting things into perspective even if you have no one around you IRL to give you advice. and it also shows that this career is possible if you put in the work and take it seriously. It's awesome that you are putting your time into social media because you are becoming a role model for so many young people and I bet you that in 5,10, 15 or whatever more years this all will pay off! Thank you for sharing this, you are awesome!

I love the AI tools in Adobe specifically, it means I don't have to do as many crappy tasks in my job makes things a bit easier and faster. A lot of my friends who are also designers or artists don't like the idea of AI or are scared of it. I'm just jumping head first into the AI stuff to learn as much as I can.

A question that doesn't come up with AI art is copyright/ the ethics of using artist inspired prompts. A lot of people use living or dead artists to influence their outputs, which begs the question of whether the works created are original or ripping off the artists/ designers. As someone who uses both traditional 3D art and AI together, it's something that will definitely make creating much faster too, I honestly really wish people would stop being so thirsty over replacing current artists with it, instead focus on how we can make the act of creating + design more fun alongside fulfilling over the grind/ hustle culture we currently have.

Interesting to hear your take on AI, i know this is an older video but i still dpnt think AI is a threat. Ive even talked to some non creatives who said just yesterday " ya AI isnt replacing designers any time soon, this is so shit 😂" like really not impressive right now. And honestly even concept i think that is actually one of the more safe fields. Ai is pulling from sources already made, so the concepts it makes will just pull from the same produced items and to me will quickly become stale and lifeless. Just like you said in a newer video about how you have to go do interesting things to create interesting art, otherwise if you stay in your room and absorb the same stuff then what you produce will eventually be boring and reitterations of what you already did, to spice it up you have to be inspired. Ai pulling from the same bucket to me will be dry and stale without actual artists continuing to put stuff in

Nah...don't even compare AI with nft or bitcoin or other sh***t 🤣 But, I agree we don't need to worry a lot but, we need to device laws & stuff to regulate this; because it is breaching copyright laws. People have even filed law suits in California state I think agains the companies.
