Jean-Paul Paris

It is hard to find any info on this snake style taiji,,,but I like it.. I can see all the Yang style moves in it, but all the coiling in this form is cool. I followed one of the links here a while back, and recorded the 3 versions of the form at the link. One was a little slower, 6 minutes. Then I slowed that one down to 12 minutes, and that was perfet. The moves are complete, and flowing, and it is quite a workout at that slow speed. I have done Yang style for 30 years and never seen this, but I love it and am learning it now. Yang style with coiling and more silk reeling than the standard forms,,,very nice. All I got with the loud French dubs was tht he learned it in Shanghai in 1978. But from who??? I thought snake style was the "family only" form of the Yang Clan..... I would like to know more

It's rather late for me to reply. So if you have further information be so kind as to pass it back to me. I too have been been at practice with Yang Lu- Chan's public form for almost forty years years now. And even this form is difficult to develop real skill with. But worth the perseverance. I can't assume what you may or may not know. So at the risk of boring you I can say this. Yang Lu-Chan's heir was Yang Ban-Hou. He received the secret form. The one which most closely resembles the original teachings from the Chen family. I have only heard of one or two people teaching this form in it's entirety. The most well known of these teachers is of course the chin-na expert Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming. if you are not familiar with this form seeing it or learning any part of it will quickly eliminate any doubts you may have as to it's authenticity. Good fortune with your training. If you have learned anything since this first post please advise me. All the best.

What kind of tai chi is he teaching? Where is he located and/or does he travel to US? I practice myself, but this style looks different. I do see his movements and can imagine the applications and look like it can be powerful and systematic. I train with a great master of forty plus years and learned a lot of great posture and harvesting power movements. I am interested to see how I can incorporate his movements to my tai chi style. Too bad I don't understand the language and would be great if there's English translation. Thanks for posting this video

About Taijiquan origin, has wide divided opinions, roughly in the Tang Dynasty (618 ~ 907 years) Xu Xuanping, the Song Dynasty (960 ~ 1278) Zhang Sanfeng, Ming Dynasty (1368 ~ 1644) Zhang Sanfeng, the Qing (1644 ~ 1911) Chen Wangting and Wang Zongyue of several different said method. No sufficient historical evidence of Taijiquan is created by Zhang Sanfeng, but Qi Jiguang's 32 potential Changquan theory early in Chen Wangting, Wang Zongyue "Taijiquan theory" originally for Chen Style Taijiquan the defect. It is concluded that Tai Chi Chuan is not a human being, but it is a constant development, summary, consolidation, innovation and development of the predecessors. Throughout the recent, the development of modern Taijiquan can be seen, only the development of things to have vitality. Now, the official recognition of Tai Chi has Chen, Yang, Wu, Wu, Sun,He.

Nobody teach you how to fish.. But unfortunately teenagers think they have learnt everything from Chinese! lets be honest with ourselves if somebody learnt everything in martial arts then why don't they win in MMA? The answer is : they have no place in the ring. End the drama here boys.

I am thinking of learning Tai Chi to improve my Table Tennis skills. What do you think of that ? As far as I know there is a lot where I can use Tai Chi in Table Tennis. 1. To be more focused, relaxed and balanced before a game and during a game, right breathing, relaxed muscles, powerful grounded positions in the game... psychological is also very important in Table Tennis Sport, so be more free, peaceful minded during a match for better focus and sportspirit. 2. To be more physical more powerful grounded to earth with a good center of gravity and balanced stand right before preforming a strike, hit. 3. Developing new strikes by Tai Chi Power, so they come faster and in the right place, without letting know and using short Chi Energy Technics. Modified strikes would be: The Block: Is a counter/defending strike/(or just hold the blade) on low, fast balls near the table, where is enough time and to execute the block slow on fast incoming balls with a light, short forward direction, which will give more power by Tai Chi and come faster and it is not to see for the opponent. The Flick: A Flick is an very fast attacking strike by a short movement of balls coming on the table very slow in the beginning of the Match right near the net. I think I can also get here more power in the strike and without showing that the ball will come fast. The Service: To be very focused on the service and also here getting some extra power. A Shot: Is a very fast strike where the ball is played just with power directly without giving it rotation, important is to get it right in the place and to generate a lot of energy and power. A Chop: A Chop is a defending strike, where you need mostly to neutralize some of the energy of the incoming ball and right after also to get it back on the table mostly far from the table, so it needs a lot of right placement. For Loops/Topspin: I can not use it, because they need a very long and wide movement of the arm, but here is a bit Tai Chi always involved, because you need to give the energy from your feet like chain to the end of your Table Tennis blade by short rotating and coming with the body up and forward to create the maximum of power for this attacking strike. But this strike is very time consuming and I do not think there will be time to get the Tai Chi power and right grounded position so fast to use it. 1. What do you think of this ? 2. Did you ever heard people learning Tai Chi to improve other Sport Skills ? 3. Would Tai Chi Help, also in these strikes, or would it not be so good because the light ball is not much resistance/force to react on with Tai Chi ? 4. Where should I start, when wanna use Tai Chi ? 5. On developing and to get Tai Chi into the strikes, what kind of technique, are close and useful to the Strikes I wanna modified and how are they called ?

Ziran Yang I think Tai Chi is the right focus to use the point of gravity and momentum, the upper body would be wrong, also you will find it in every martial arts and defense tecs, without Tai Chi elements all of the martial arts would be not useful and would not have the important key elements, specially like Judo, Akido, Wing Chung ..... they are very based of Tai Chi Tecs

Aikido is Tai Chi would make much more sense, as Tai Chi is much older than Aikido. But to be more exact, Aikido is more Bagua Zhang. Some say O'sensei was inspired by Bagua Zhang during the war in China. Aikido is the youngest art among them.

Davidson Harly As far I did understand Tai Chi is the basic of mostly all these sports and defending tecs, some got more Tai Chi elements some less, I think Capoeira is not so much based of Tai Chi.
