The Real Reason HBO Was So Concerned About James Gandolfini Before His Death

Ойын-сауық

Many were devastated when James Gandolfini died of a heart attack on June 19, 2013, at the age of 51. A renowned actor, Gandolfini has an impressive body of work, though it was his role as Tony Soprano on the hit HBO series “The Sopranos” that took his career to new heights. Not only did he win three Emmys for his work on the series, but he earned a whopping million per episode.
While his death may have come as a shock to most of his fans, it wasn’t as much of a surprise to network executives. This is the real reason HBO was so concerned about James Gandolfini before his death.

Do you just believe what people say? I mean who would speak ill of the dead and expect to get next roles in the show biz? They all are actors and actresses so they want next roles. They won’t speak ill of the dead even if they didn’t like how he behaved on the set, that’s just a no brainer.

Jimmy's was great an actor as exists, with the Sopranos being the best series I've ever seen too. As an American of Sicilian descent myself who's about the same age, height, bone structure as Mr. Gandolfini I too love our delicious(but usually) unhealthy cuisine/over indulgences in general. I'm thankful that as an athlete growing up learned about nutrition, exercise etc, because like so many guys of our ethnicity I put on bad weight by (practically) thinking about Lasagna. Remaining a gymrat with only the occasional cheat meal is I'm sure the only reason I'm not diabetic &or much worse at this stage in my life. God Bless Jimmy, RIP.

Not really because coke can definitely be detrimental to heart health so they mentioned things he did which were unhealthy. Most of us have done things in our younger years we now frown upon. I know I did. I never had the money to do cocaine though. I wonder what his childhood was like because that is the place where addictions are born. The so important relationship with our parents.

He couldn’t even breath normally on the set, I recall his heavy breathing. A doctor needed to put him on a diet. In reality a mob boss isn’t obese and very disciplined. Otherwise they can’t climb to the top. He wasn’t portraying a great mob boss towards the end as that’s far from the reality. Too bad he couldn’t lose weight to live longer…sadly. I think there was a lot of Bad Karma in doing the Sopranos. Gandofini did a great job in the Role, but it glorified a Mafia Killer and the Mafia as well as the Ends justifies the Means approach to life. I think this resulted in Bad Karma for James Gandofini his Drug, Alcohol and Food Problems which led to his early Demise.

If you only look at the surface it may create the illusion of the mob life being glorified but when you delve in you can see the carnage and chaos that is created. I think what was depicted was a dysfunctional family that just happened to be about the mob which just made it more interesting to watch. It's probably my favorite show because of all the psychology that is interwoven into it. Martin Scorsese said that when he was asked about Good fellas making the mob look glorified or alluring. he said that there were alluring aspects to it but everyone either died or went to prison. In the Irishman he did the same thing when he put right on the film what happened to all the mob related characters being knocked off or going to prison. I, like a lot of people, are attracted to these mafia shows and films but just like watching an accident gets your attention and compulsion to watch it, I wouldn't want to be in it.

@@cl5470 - Its been a year since I made my original comment. I had time to think about it. I probably agree with Brian Walsh's comment. I also think the Show sent mixed Messages about the Mafia and its characters. I think Tony and /or his crew would do something horrible like what they did to Adrianna- who was basically a Civilian- just a girl who was dating and fell in love with one of Tony's Men. Yet they killed her. But then they would show scenes of Tony being a good Father like when AJ tried to kill himself.
