The REAL Meaning of the 2nd Commandment - Jim Staley

Ойын-сауық

Are you SURE you know what the REAL meaning of the 2nd commandment is? In this series, I break down exactly how the ancient Hebrew language and context affects the real meaning of each commandment. While we may not be carving idols anymore, we are definitely at risk of still breaking the 2nd commandment! Find out how in this short teaching!

Jim, I get attacked daily for what I post on Facebook! There is no room for truth for many and your words are fitting! People look to get likes and approval on social media, it can be used as a platform for Truth! The world is what you make it, resonate in love is the heart of Torah! Shabbat shalom y’all

I ask for prayers for the generation of children growing up with SO many idols. May God allow us to see them, and by the power that is in the name above every name, give us the strength to remove them from our hearts.

The purpose of Our Father's Commandment is to keep us on the Righteous Path and deliver us from the evil one. The graven image of the earth spinning ball is a lie, and a terrible stronghold for the evil one, and it is blasted in our faces 24/7 from the moment we are born. No one can survey His Mighty Works, and we should rebuke the graven images that the evil puts in front of us.

Just a note (spoken in love): a CROSS was and IS an instrument of severe torture and death. Why would I proclaim THAT in my yard or on my person or anywhere? It is also “a sign” in the hand and on the forehead of all things Catholic. Why would I identify myself with THAT in any way? ☝🏻 I will find myself 5-6 free pallets somewhere, and in the middle of my yard make a semblance of a cave out of them, covering them with cement and rocks. I will round up another pallet and attach it to the side of my man-made miniature cave, covering it with cement. I will hang inside a few solar lights and put a sign up top: HE IS RISEN! Yeah... I think I’m gonna do THAT instead... 👍🏻 Just an idea 💡

Back in 1968 I joined a Church and within a year they built a new Building. MY Father actually did the excavation work for the building. In this building is a 65ft. Tall, 11,000 lb, 12,000 piece Stained Glass Image of God Number II. It is 1" thick, has 82 color's and the piece's were made in France, Germany, England and the United States and it depicts a mental image of God Number II that was turned into a physical visual image and every Satyrday 🪐 and on other special meeting days up to 1,300 people bow before and pray in the Name of God number II depicted by this Stained Glass Idol/Image of their God they worship and serve and the image is scanned Up and Down multiple times with the camera for visual effect. I never really paid to much attention to the Stained Glass Idol until the Head Pastor (there are 4) announced just prior to the 50year celebration of the Building that his intention was to preach 6 Sermons all on the Churches Priceless Windows which has so greatly impressed him ever since he had been made head Pastor of the Church. His sermons are televised, on Facebook and on KZread. I commented on his KZread video about the likeness of that one particular impressive Window depiction of his GOD Number II and how it was very similar to Aaron's Golden Calf Idol which they claimed represented the God Who led them out of Egypt and out of Bondage and how both are a violation of YHWH's Commandment against making and worshipping before Images of anything in Heaven and Earth and YAHshua being the representation of this priceless art objectified Window. Within 15minutes of me posting my comment, both the video and my comment were deleted by the provider. I watched as he preached all of his 6 Sermons on his idols, the Stained Glass windows in the Church, the one's everyone bow's before and pray's either in the Name of or pray's to. Now comments on their KZread video's are not allowed.

As a Christian, can you please clarify if it’s ok or not do do artwork like drawings and paintings of plants, animals, flowers, etc. My husband heard something about that and I am confused because I have had a natural inclination towards paintings etc since I was a very young child, and I only draw cutsie things, nothing evil or sinful, and absolutely nothing about things like Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Valentine’s Day … but now I’m concerned that I should not be drawing anything at all. Please clarify… I need your help…

Any sort of art is premited, the prohibition is to make an image and worship it. Kneel before it and have it as an idol. You should continue to draw as even the Holy Spirit can manifest through painting. Do not burry an art given by the Lord. Use it to spread his word and Kingdom. Blessings. Gerdfran from PFT!

Shalom Raymond - well, it would not be a sin to have it in our opinion - however it probably looks nothing like the Jewish Jesus that actually lived and perpetuates the Roman/Greek version of a white, blue eyed Jesus. However, this is something you need to decide and maybe fasting and prayer would give you peace either way.

Can you show what this looks like in 2022? I am having a hard time visualizing how a day in a modern human's life looks like by following God Almighty's commandments. How does the life of someone in 2022 is? I cannot think of any examples of what a day by day, month by month and year by year looks like. Morning, afternoon, evening and night. What does it look like for someone following His commandments? Income, family and other activities? In 2022. I look around but not even the pastors. What disturbs my heart the most is God's punishment for ignorance.

You are so right brother...ignorance is no excuse and most pastors probably know the truth. It is just so difficult to change as they are afraid they will lose their congregation. But as far as in 2022, we do the best we can with what we know - there are many commandments that are for men, some for women, some for priests, some for when the temple stands....so start with the top 2 :-) and go from there! Yah is trustworthy and HE will guide you. We also have some excellent videos on how to start - passionfortruth.com/new-here/

What is something everybody is not? If you make what you need to live and possibly prosper with the feet and hands God designed us with into idols as well. And that is some sort of automatic process. And with a will and desire to express a least something, does that thing mean it's an idol? What about the book , the idea , one is writing, a spiritual book at that? What is not an idol? What about the idols of the mind, like psychological theories of what idolatry is? Or the idolatry of materialism of things, the whole American culture. What about nationalism as an idol? Nothing can replace our need for God in our deepest heart. The monks went into the desert to get away from necessities that came with cultural involvement. Necessities are not gods. And If He provides for us, those things can take the place in time and desire over God. Loving the things more than the Giver? Isreal had that problem too. We are at once spiritual and material beings in this world. It was originally right here that led to gnostic heresies. How can you live in both simultaneously? How could God become incarnated into a physical being and become a part of the evil of matter? Is this not where all our evils arise from, sickness, idolatry, sin, death and evil spirits fleeting about. I think the definition is sound provided here on idolatry is sound as far as it goes. But if the human heart is an automatic idol factory, how then shall we live. We will be spending our time sweeping out idols and the house demon within, rather than proclaiming the Gospel of freedom In Christ after the Spirit. I think the trap here is focusing again on ourselves overmuch outside the tutership of the Holy Spirit whose inscribing in us word of His power and the power to both will and do all those things necessary for life and godliness in this world and the next. Keeping our focus in Christ and on Christ is what the first desciples learned out of their heart to do; and like Christ, was to do the Will of the Father. We want to keep the words on idolatry within controlled meaningful discourse. You can expand the meaning of a word to where it is useless in putting into any kind of practice. And we put into practice all that God puts within. God is in charge of our sanctification from idols if we abide in Him. If we do not we are following some course of mind, will or heart that may be an" idol" of the same. And little children, stay a way from idols. NOTE: Biblical vocabulary sometimes can lead to overbroad defining by people. We have other words in the bible besides idolatry that can describe our situation at times more succinctly. In the old testament idolatry is usually thought of as personal our social worship of God's made by hands, and the spiritual despotism that followed. Well of course their is an attitude of heart prior to this. But the attitude was made manifest through the work of human hands, imagination and desire. Then it stood before you in the groves, palaces and homes of the adherents; an idol that could neither hear or talk ( of itself), nor see. And what would I want the one and only true God of the universe to do, or tell us to do. Cast the stupid things down, and quit thinking their your sustenance. I AM. Have eyes to see and ears to see. I AM your only Savior and Lord. I will watch over you and provide for you strength to prosper in the way. And you will have nothing under or more than you need to prosper. Riches and success are test our faithfulness and charity in God's kingdom, lest they become idols. And we make an idol with our own hands.

I hope I did not confuse anybody. It's just the simple matter of keeping Christ first in our lives by a His design and not just our own (it may be an " idol" of mind).

If you want to know what a person's god really is, simply watch to see what they invest their time doing, and what they spend their money on. Everyone is guilty of wasting their time on foolishness. I've definitely been guilty of this one. And a lot of people waste their money buying foolish things. But, in my 53 years of life, the one thing that I've seen and that disturbs me the most, is how those that claim to be followers of the Messiah spend the majority of their time and their money on anything but YHWH / Yeshu. The amount of time that could be invested reading Scripture, or even watching Truth oriented videos such as this one, to gain spiritual insights or tp grow in the knowledge and wisdom of Yah, is literally squandered instead on video games, the dumbest movies, or the latest stupidity on social media. Like I said, "Anything but YHWH." It's heartbreaking. All of these, and more, become "Idols of the heart." The Messiah said in Mat 15:8: "These people honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from me." I kinda get the feeling that the Messiah was referring to these folks when He said they call Him "Lord, Lord." Great video Jim. Shalom upon you and your home full of women Jim. There's only two in my home and I need all I can get. 😄

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It's unfortunate that today's culture is programming our generation to have an express version of everything, including faith. Our society encourages people to seek commodities and instant gratification to such an extent that discipline and the joy of growing in our understanding of our Creator do not appear to be high on today's priority list. We pray the Joshua-Caleb generation wakes up! - Vivi

@@PassionForTruthVideo "Amen", and "Amen!" If I may Vivi, I'd like to share with you another reality that I've learned since 2014. A Truth my brothers and sisters haven't learned yet, but they will as all these things will be restored.. I'll begin this by saying that Joshua and Caleb had a one-hearted goal. That goal was to trust the Word of YHWH with all their heart. Even when the faith of other's failed due to what seemed like insurmountable odds. (Much like the kind we're facing today.) They sought to "observe and do" YHWH's Covenant as written by the "finger" of YHWH Elohim after He spoke to Moses saying: "Ascend to me here on the mountain, and I will give to thee the two stone tablets of the law and the commandments; as I have written them, thou shalt make them known." At this time Moses received the "Law and Testimony" i.e. "Covenant." We know there were: "two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of Elohim" (Ex 31:18), and that they were "written on both sides" (Ex 32:15). The words written were called: "the Testimony" and were to be "put into the Ark" (Ex 25:16). This is why the Ark is called the "Ark of the Testimony." However, Moses cast down and broke the originals and had to remake them. (Ex 34:1). Anyway, when most believers think of these two stone tablets they picture the image of the two tablets in Cecil B. DeMille's The Ten Commandments in their mind. I'd bet money that's exactly what you just did! Everyone does. But it's a deception. The enemy uses our ignorance against us. The Torah tells us it was "written on both sides." The truth is, ALL the words "spoke" from the Mountain from Ex 20:1-17, and, ALL the words "said to Moses" from Ex 20:22-23:33 are what was written on those stones! That's a lot more "words" than just 10. Ex 24:3 records: "And Moses came and he recounted ALL the words ("debarim" from Ex 20:1) of YHWH, and all the judgements." ("mishpatim" from Ex 21:1.) All of these "words" and "judgements" are what the people agreed to, saying: "we will "observe and do." Note that the "judgements" include the land "seventh" and the "seventh day", to which is added "and all I said to you, you keep, and do not invoke the names of other elohim, as they are not to be heard from your mouths." (Doesn't "saturn's day" violate this Torah/Covenant Command?? Delusion is still upon Israel!!) Then says: "Three "regalim tachag" (feet-jumping/dancing in circles) Festivals you keep to Me in the year." These are the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the Festival of Firstfruits, and the Festival of Ingathering. (Ex 23:10-19.) But do we know what day the TRUE "Seventh" Day is? And what days are the TRUE Days of these Festivals? These days are important to YHWH as these days are His Covenant Days of "Testimony." Clues to the actual number of how many "Seventh" Days there are in each season, and the actual number of "Seventh" Days there are in a year, can be found in the "Words of the Division of Days, according to the Law and Testimony" (Covenant). It says there are ONLY 13 Sabbaths in each season, and that there are ONLY 52 Sabbaths in a year. But let's look at the word "Testimony", the Hebrew "eduth", which comes from the root word עד (eyd) If you deep dive the word "Testimony" in modern electronic lexicons you'll find "eduth" (H5715 - "testimony - extended gloss - reminder"), comes from "eyd" (H5707 - "witness/testimony"), and is contracted from "ood" (H5749 - "to return/repeat/go about/go round and round". Much like H2282 - "chag" from H2287 - "chagag" - "dance/stagger, move in a circle/reel to and fro"), which gets you close to the original understanding, but not completely. I found the following in a 1949 Gesenius under עד (eyd): "perpetuity of time, eternity". Definitely a time word, closer to mo-eyd which it also says is: "a set time".

@@PassionForTruthVideo I hope I didn't scare you away Vivi. Sometimes in my frankness I can come across pretty abrasive. Especially in writing. That wasn't my intent at all. Truly. Understanding this issue is of monumental importance. I know there's HUGE disunity surrounding the calendar issue right now. Remember all the disunity cause when you chose to give up all the other ways of the world? (x-mas, etc..) Most people just avoid the calendar issue all together and continue doing what they're doing because it's all they know. Our pride and ego can keep us in delusion. Look Vivi, I was born on jan 25th in 1970. Yeah, I'm old. It was on a "sunday." I'll need your help here, so, if you would please grab your phone or tablet and look with me. Like each day following the12 Chodeshim (months) in Scripture, jan 25th (Gregorian 1/25) is a numbered, "fixed date." It does not move. But look at every jan 25th after that and you'll see that the "day name" that was "sunday" in 1970, changed every single year after that. This proves that "saturday" can never be the TRUE "Seventh" Day. it moves and falls on every day of the week. This is why YHWH didn't use day names in His Covenant's system. He only named the "Seventh"/"Shabbat" Day, which according to Ex 23:12 is the Covenant's Day of "rest." But how do you determine what day the "Seventh" day is? "Seventh" from what? I can show you because I've kept it since 2014. A it never moves. What I'm sharing with you here is 100% Scriptural Vivi. Every civilization from Sumer to Rome named their days in honor of their false "host of heaven" gods. We inherited it from Roman Catholicism. Israel was told in the Covenant (Ex 23:13) not to even mention these false gods. To say that "saturday" is the "Shabbat" is a "transgression of the Law" i.e. "sin." (1 Jn 3:4) Most only keep the Sabbath on "saturday" because its "saturday." But take "saturn's day" out of the equation and then what day is the "Sabbath"?? See the dilemma? It's been done in ignorance but it's sin none the less. Israel was told not to do such things. Doing what the nations did is how Israel got in booted from the Land by YHWH to begin with. Look and see if you can find one time that the Messiah or His disciples used any day names in the NT. Why? They existed just like today. Why didn't the Apostles use these day names in their writings from Matthew to Revelation?? The Romans just continued what the Greeks had done before them, and the Assyrians before them, and the Babylonians before them, but updating the names of the gods for their week days. Nothing new under the sun. The letters in the NT were written decades after the Messiah's ascension and yet we don't see any day names in their letters. Why? Because they wouldn't transgress Torah. They knew better and they obeyed the Messiah's instruction to "observe and do" what was read from Moses' Seat. (Mat 23:1-3.) YHWH said through Hosea: "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you shall be no priest to me: because you have FORGOTTEN the Law of your Elohim, I will also forget your children." (Hos 4:6) YHWH's Days of "Testimony" are "fixed." They don't move and they are kept by "day names" or we would see it in Scripture. Please don't ignore this Truth I'm sharing. Research. Try to prove me wrong! Please?!? The Spirit of Truth will show you I'm telling you the truth. The numbered "fixed" Chodesh (not "new moons") Days, the Sabbath Days and "fixed" Moedim Days, found all throughout the Tanakh, will be restored to the House of Israel. It's already begun. The only question is: Will Israel bow to the Father's Will and "do Bible things in Bible Ways", or continue moving in Judaism's rebellion with stiff necks. Shalom Vivi and Shalom upon your loved ones. 👴🙏

Yes you are correct, the second Commandments of the Old Covenant of the Mosaic Law is still to be acknowledge by all mankind. But take Note, the second Commandment Matthew 22:39 of the New Covenant of the Christ Jesus today is also a must to have life. If we obey the First Commandment of Jesus Matthew 22:37 we will spontaneous carry out the principles of the Mosaic Law. Moses make way for the Christ and now we have the Christ who's the way the truth and the life.

I heard you say that there was nothing wrong with the name Jesus christ. While the Holy Spirit was pulling it ourpt of my life. I then , by accident came across some numerology. The numological value of the name Jesus Christ is 999 the same value as Sodom. The Greeks invented this name in honour of their God Zeus. In Hebrew Jesus translates to Jason not Yeshua which translates to Joshua. The Greek say that Jesus christ means completion and new beginnings while in fact it means destruction. The meaning of Yeshua is completion and new beginnings. Think about this.
