The human voice is the most beautiful instrument. It truly is connected to the heart. The Real Group is outstanding.
I never heard and never will hear anything like this ever again. there is so much musical detail in this one. the sadness of beauty is expressed musically and lyrically to its fullest. what an outstanding performance.
The arranger's harmonic imagination is sensational. And so is the group's tuning. Those complex chords and suspensions are just thrilling when sung by these musical perfectionists. Unreal!

Right?? I mean, what is that levitating sensation that 1:16 chord gives me?

@@pedrosoares2253 Not the more complex of the song (in my opinion) but yes beautiful. I think about a Dm 9 11 : D F C E G (leave a 10th between D and F).

Hey, thanks mate! Well , maybe it's not the most complex but sure is the one that brings the most complex 'nasty face' from me... Uff!
This group came to my college during my freshman year at Goshen College. I was blown away because #1- the acoustics in the college were outstanding, especially since it was a relatively small college, and #2- how their voices ringed off of the walls of the halls when they sang was breathtaking. So mesmerizing!
May 21, 2020 I still come here from time to time, just to hear this soothing and magnificent interpretation. Thank you TheRealGroup

Again and again - hauntingly beauuutiful! 🙌🏼
This version of the song is purely amazing! While most versions are cheap covers, and somebody taking too much artistic license with the original, you've actually managed to add to the song, without taking anything away from it, as well as nailing the true emotion behind it. Absolutely beautiful!

So very true and well stated Jason, I was looking for a rendition of this beautiful standard to play lead guitar to, Something with true emotion and depth of soul, yet pure and innocent. This was breathtaking, and from watching & studying the faces from honored guests that were in attendance for this, the tears began to flow. I knew I had found the perfect piece to play along with quietly in the background. Absolutely beautiful as you stated, and timeless as a whisper in the wind....

Very good comment !!
I love this song. Sometimes that makes me cry... From France!
Now that is what I call acapella at its best!
Just saw them last night in Jenison. They are sooo amazing. When they sang, the entire room was silent. You could see little kids, staring with awe. You could see old men and women crying as they listened. It was beautiful. I can't believe I was lucky enough to see them.
My son loved this song and definitely understood the higher law of love. Beautiful harmonies. Nat King Cole made it classic jazz back when.

It is fantastic, it's the best what I've heard from decades. THANK YOU !
Lyric There was a boy A very strange, enchanted boy They say he wandered very far Very far, over land and sea A little shy and sad of eye But very wise was he And then one day One magic day he passed my way While we spoke of many things Fools and Kings This he said to me: "The greatest thing you'll ever learn Is just to love and be loved in return" "The greatest thing you'll ever learn Is just to love and be loved in return"

Do you know that it was written for Nat Cole by Eban Ahbez.. his is quite a story.
I've been coming back to this regularly since 2015. Angelic work!
Had no other choice than to clap aloud, sitting alone in my bedroom = ) Flawless work!

So happy you shared that.. me too, but in the kitchen reaching for the Kleenex.
It's just Wow! It's beyond, it's unreal 😍 it's magic, it's so beautifully performed!
Simply Beautiful. Nat King Cole would be proud to hear this arrangement.
Found this to be one of my favorites.
I can't believe 8 years have gone by. This rendition of the song still hits just as hard .
This is nearly 10 years old but loving it more every time I listen to it.
This must be the twentieth time I see this. I am still moved beyond belief. The middle part is incredible.

Sveinung Marvik I agree
This is exquisite. The black lead singer female voice is so well received. She favors the black actress and singer Lonette Mckee as to be like sisters. They don't need to be in a small pub doing this. They need to be in opera houses, because they are absolutely wonderful. What a divinely timeless and haunting melody that shall forever be ageless without flaw. ALL HAILS FROM THE MIDDLE EAST.
Just THANK YOU Real Group for being and singing and sharing it!

Wow... This take on a standard is exceptional... Very finely crafted.
Lovely arrangement. Exquisite Harmony and Perfect vocal execution!!
Amazing!
Hauntingly beautiful rendition of a classic song! Reflect...meditate... and appreciate ..what authentic love is: UNCONDITIONAL!
There are words for me.....but this song touched my very core of thoughts and emotions - majestic work of art
How could the audience experience this live without crying their eyes out? Incredibly beautiful arrangement and performance! ❤️

Ha! I made the same comment somewhere in these comments. (Or, since the audience are dear friends and family of the singers, they may have heard it enough times and been immune to feelings... I don't know, though, I've listened to this numerous times and gotten goose pimples and tears in my eyes every time!)

Yes, I'd be afraid of ruining the recording with the sounds of my reaction!
Wonderful, wonderful!.. from an Australian in London :-)
Incredible! It made me cry...
This is my favorite vocal group, since the absence of Singers Unlimited. I have many of TRG's cds and I've witnessed the personnel change through the years, but the quality and absolute perfection of singing the song is still top drawer. This group nails it .... really!!!
This is a great version of this song. It was written by a "proto hippie" who lived under the "Hollywood" sign up in the hills of Griffith Park here in Los Angeles with his family. Hauntingly beautiful, short and sweet. I love Nat King Cole's version, I'm singing it tomorrow and hope to do it justice, it's just a wonderful melody and sentiment.

MY GOD THE MUSICALITY OF IT ALL
Just to Love and be Loved in Return. Oh, my, my, my, my...
is one of my favourite songs. Not only the music is exquisite but also the b&w camera works are excellent. Thanks for this HQ video.
Truly magnificent. I absolutely adore the group's harmony . I've followed Emma's wonderful voice ever since Her and Laid's contribution to the Hed Kandi cd.
Brilliant. I always knew the Swedes were marvelously musical. Here, once again, is proof. Thank you :-)
words cant tell what music just did thank you
This is wonderful art. . . the best rendition of this difficult song I've ever heard!
Tack så mycket för musiken!

Hello Debra..
Well that twisted me up... damn.
Always loved this song and this version took my breath away!
Absolutely AMAZING :)
The best version of this song that I've heard. Beautiful falsetto singing by Anders.
That middle part - DANG!!! Such great writing.
В бурном потоке музыки случайно наткнулся на The Real Group. Необыкновенное изящество, стиль и высокое академическое мастерство исполнения! Эталон аранжировки и музыкального строя. Одним словом: Швеция - сделано с умом!
I first learned this song in the late 50 and thought no one could sing it as good as Nat King Cole. Boy was I wrong! This rendition is beautiful!!! Thanks for sharing. Take Care, Dave

A truly moving rendition. Thank you.
this is a completely brilliant, wonderful and exquisite arrangement beautifully sung. Thankyou !
It's obviously for the whole, but for me is that 1:16 harmony that sends me off the roof... uuuff 🥲
Perfection. Audial, visual, emotional. Speachless. Thank you TRG!
Chills, this is the best cover of this song I have ever heard ...and maybe the most moving Acapella piece ever to grace my ears as well. Amazing arrangement 🙌🏼
This makes me miss singing in an ensemble... ♥
Beautiful ensemble, thanks.
Oh my goodness, it's been a long time since my heart found its way into The teardrops of my eyes. I was simply looking for a rendition of this beautiful standard to play lead guitar with, I always choose music with emotion and depth to play along with, this just added teardrops to my fretboard as I play from my bone marrow of life. Thank you for your wonderful gift, I can only imagine being in this small gathering as an honored attendee, I would be the one with a lowered head in my hands.
Real Goosebumps I tell ya.
simply amazing!
