I love that Johnny shows the Trials and Tribulations of learning new tricks. It never goes away, that dirty learning curve. I see so many kids at the park just want instant gratification when they jump on a board. They see all these youtubers just showing the "Glammer Moments" of skateboarding. Makes it seem like everytime you touch a board and it's just Magic Happening Everywhere lol. Not the case. Even at Johnny's Level (Pro+) he still has trouble getting it right. Mind you, with his skill set he will get it 1000x faster then someone that is new to skateboarding, but still, he is in the trenches learning with the rest of us. He shows that part of his day and it is nice to see. "The Process", it's the same for all levels of Skaters and it cannot be ignored... The Process WILL make or break you ☠🤟 ALWAYS CLEAN YOUR PARK CLEAN... get ya ass kicked around here for that littering bullshit.

The cool thing was the company, which I don’t remember which one (maybe spitfire), who’s add it was was offering an amateur sponsorship. Someone did it within two or three months and they announced the winner. I was in love with these and spent about a year learning them over pyramid hips in probably 1999 or 2000 and I eventually did a nollie hard flip late backside 180 over the Everett, WA skatepark hip on Casino rd in probably 2002.
Thanks for this video! I've gotten into a few discussions on youtube re: ghetto birds. The way i understand ghetto birds is that the revert is in the same direction as the horizontal part of the hardflip. What is popularly known as a ghetto bird, to the best of my knowledge, is actually called a chetty thomas.

I remember first seeing one of these in 97/98 where someone rolled up fakie on a steep bank and did a fakie hard flip full late bake side 180 (the opposite spin as Kareem’s) and road away funny enough in a very fakie foot position. It was the only one I ever landed and took about 5000 tries LOL
