I think compared to D1, D2 is a lot more school by school in the sense that one school can be completely different to another even though they’re the in the same division. As an example, the D2 school I was just at had a perfectly cut grass field as well as a perfect game field, but a lot of teams don’t even have one good grass field. I’ve also known d2 players who are vastly superior to some d1 players I know and I’ve seen plenty of d2 teams who have dominated d1 teams in games. It really isn’t as black and white as a lot of people might think.

That's because of academics though mostly right? There's tons of good athletes in D2 that didn't have good grades in HS I think is why this happen?

Excellent video and good breakdown of the D1 as and D2 differences Can I ask you about roster sizes and the amount of game time , what division offers most game time Also do freshmen get as much game time as the seniors?

Heard the level doesn't vary as much as everyone thinks between D1,D2,D3. Some D2 teams are as good as D1 teams and even better there isn't any relegation and promotions so a really good D2 team or D3 team who can compete against D1 teams will still be playing in their respective divisions. Furthermore, Divisions are judged by the size of the uni, so division 1 is the biggest universities. All the information that I have shared was directly from Darthmouth and Stanford coaches who came over for a showcase

Just for the lols there are exceptions to that rule. I forgot which university, but there was a uni with only 1,500 students attending, but was D1 because of how focused and concentrated they were on building up the soccer program. But yeah, there are d3 teams that could go head to head with d2. However, though there will be d1 level athletes at d3, I do not think there are any d3 teams better than d1.

There aren't many D3 teams that could compete with D1 but the top of D3 especially the NESCAC conference where I played could very easily compete with the bottom end of D1 as there have been a number of players, myself included who have gone on to either get trials or full on professional contracts after their college careers. If you need any more proof, search Amherst College Soccer (Amherst is D3 for reference) vs Monaco (I believe it was U23s) and they were able to make it a very close game.

Robert Montanaro Oh yeah I’ve seen some Amherst games and I’m convinced they could easily be a D1 Level team. I agree with you and am not at all bashing at D3. With not as many d1 soccer schools in America as there are For basketball, football, baseball, or even volleyball or track, leaves a lot of high level players that just barely missed d1 to go to D2 or D3, and therefore leading to crazy good d2/d3 soccer teams

Yes I did create one. Luckily I had some footage from my time at college and got some footage from the agency I went through. I would just try and get match footage anyway you can. Friends or family are perfect if they are coming to watch anyway.

They should have d1, d2 and d3 champions play each other as a final for National Championship to settle to score who is the best college team in the nation.

It really varies from school to school so it's hard to say. But all the universities that I have seen have a similar standard of facilities.

It really depends which two universities you compare. Some top D2 are better than some average D1 but top D1 should always be better than top D2.

Wish this was true but even the top d2 schools the gap between the players is so extreme. Yeah there may be one or two players that could play on a d1 team but, the majority wouldn't and it shows. Having played against d2 teams in preseason its always 5 plus goal blow outs. Where the first team really only plays the starters for 30 mins of the whole game.

Well maybe I should’ve accepted the scholarship offers 😩 but then again if soccer after high school was for me it would’ve been here! But it’s really me being scared of being uncomfortable.. sometimes I regret not taking any offers .. ehh !

That's a difficult one as there are a lot of rules. For example a club can't contact you until you're in the 'transfer portal'. To get into this portal you must tell your current coach and sign a leaving form. Once in the portal you can talk to other coaches etc and go from there.

So the way I did it was partly through an agency and partly by myself. You must create a highlight video with your sons best clips that you then send to the coaches at universities that appeal to you. From there it is about speaking to the coaches and potentially talking about scholarships etc. For classes the american system makes you do a mixture of general education classes for the first two years. After that your classes are more adapted towards your major. The difference in quality is hard. The big point to be aware of is that D3 don't offer scholarships. D1 is regarded as the best level but some top D2 teams are better than some average D1. There is some overlap. Hope that helps!

What is the comparison between that and the NCAA? Thanks Tom, it's such a variable thing and depends on how you use the situation. If you make the most of it, going to America is definitely worth it. It requires you to work hard at both athletics and studies tho so if you just want to play football then maybe staying in the UK is the better choice

Elliott Burrell I’m not able to tell you a direct amount I can tell you that the team is given a certain amount and the coach divides it up however they want as for recruiting I’m sure if a player because available that they want they will still be recruiting so never hesitate to reach out and be persistent

Yes, they tend to do both Christmas time and Summer time. However commonly more money becomes available during summer.

Bruh... England has BY FAR the best football pyramid in the entire world. No good talent goes unnoticed there! I'm curios why would anyone come from England, the absolute pinnacle of football systems, to the USA for football? I'm really just wondering, why aren't you playing in an academy system or a lower division team in England?

I understand the doubt. Unfortunately talent does go unnoticed. I'm not saying that I should have been picked up but there are lots of players who should and don't. If you can't get into an academy by the age of 18 then your left to the lower tiers and combining working everyday with training and playing can be hard to improve. That's why I chose to go to higher education and extend playing by four years.
